Chapter 5

After bonding with the three sisters at a secluded temple far from the pack, Alex officially had new mates. Days were filled with lavish shopping sprees; nights drowned in indulgence and excess.

The sisters pulled out all the stops to please him-seduction, flattery, endless games. They tore through boxes of protection each night like it was a performance they had rehearsed for their entire lives.

The day before they were set to return, Alex gifted each of them a designer moon dress tailored for their upcoming Luna

ceremony.

At the airport, just as they were waiting to board, something caught his eye-a plush toy shaped like a cartoon character I used to adore.

“Why are you buying that?” Elsa asked in a sugary voice, clinging to his arm.

Alex didn’t answer. His brows furrowed.

Almost on instinct, he pulled out his phone and typed:

“I’m back. Pick me up at the airport.”

The moment he hit send, his phone died.

For the entire twelve-hour flight, he sat still, eyes fixed on the clouds beyond the window. The sisters’ cloying affection, once entertaining, now felt suffocating. Their practiced sweetness, their endless seduction-it suddenly all felt so hollow.

As soon as the plane landed in the capital, Alex stormed off first, brushing past the sisters without a second glance.

“You three, go wait at the countryside villa,” he ordered coldly.

At the arrival terminal, his eyes scanned the crowd.

No sign of me.

Ten minutes passed. Then thirty. An hour.

Still nothing.

His expression darkened with every tick of the clock.

By the time he got back to the main villa, he was a storm ready to break. He tore through every room, calling my name, flipping furniture, yanking open doors.

Nothing.

Grabbing a guard by the collar, he snarled, “Where the hell is she?!”

The guard trembled. “Alpha… we haven’t seen her since that night.”

Alex turned on his phone and immediately dialed my number-but was met with a robotic voice:

“The number you’ve dialed is no longer in service.”

He cursed under his breath. “Still sulking? I told her to reflect. It was just a few days-why go this far?”

He opened our old mindlink.

Silence.

She had severed the bond.

A cold chill gripped his spine.

His memory darted back to that night. The sisters draped over him in sheer lingerie, their voices like silk dipped in venom.

“That nasty cat scratched my shoes.”

“It ruined my stockings!”

“Throw the damn thing out before it ruins another dress.”

He had hesitated.

He meant to refuse.

But one by one, they had taken turns-whispering against his neck, slipping into his lap, kissing away his resistance.

In the end… he gave in.

Only now did it strike him-that cat was a gift from Fiona’s mother.

And she had rushed into the freezing night to look for it… because of him.

A knot twisted in his chest.

“Fuck!” he roared, kicking the coffee table.

The glass top shattered with a crash, shards scattering across the marble floor.

He stormed upstairs and threw open the bedroom door-only to freeze in place.

The room had been transformed-glaring gold accents, heavy velvet curtains, tacky crystal chandeliers, animal-print rugs. A grotesque display of wealth with no warmth.

“Who. Gave. Permission. To touch this room?” he hissed.

The maids backed away in fear. “It… it was Catherine, Alpha. And… and you approved it. You said yes…”

Alex stood there, motionless.

Yes, he remembered nodding.

Back then, he hadn’t cared.

But now, staring at the garish mess that had replaced their room-her room-something in his chest caved in.

He yanked out his phone and barked into it:

“Find her. I don’t care how long it takes-track Fiona down. Now. And bring me every guard who was on duty at the club that night. I want all of them in front of me within the hour.”
