(Elena’s POV)
Marcus Blackwood’s words hit me like silver bullets to the heart. Each syllable carved deeper wounds into my soul.
The source of all her suffering is because of you. You have to endure it.
I stared at him, feeling something fundamental shift inside me. The last flickering ember of hope I’d carried for six years finally died.
A strange calmness settled over me. The kind of peace that comes after a storm has destroyed everything worth saving.
I found the whole situation utterly ridiculous. Here was my mate, the Alpha I’d devoted my life to, telling me I deserved to suffer for another woman’s pain.
“You’re right,” I said quietly. My voice was steady, almost serene. “I’ve gotten everything she couldn’t get.”
Marcus’s grip on my chin loosened slightly. He seemed surprised by my calm response.
“So I’ll return it all to her.” I stepped back, breaking free from his hold. “The Luna position, the Blackwood
name, everything. She can have it all back.”
“Elena-”
“I’ll give you a chance to make amends with Sophia Rivers before I leave.” I moved toward the door. “Consider it my final gift to you both.”
Marcus grabbed my arm, his golden eyes turning sinister. “You think you can just walk away?”
I shook his hand away with surprising strength. “Watch me.”
His face darkened like a storm cloud. “Elena Blackwood, you don’t get to decide when this ends.”
“Actually, I do.” I smiled, and it felt like the first genuine smile I’d worn in years. “Goodbye, Marcus.”
(Marcus’s POV)
I stood there watching her leave, my face growing increasingly grim. Something precious was slipping through my grasp, and I couldn’t control it.
My wolf Logan paced restlessly in my mind. She’s leaving us. Stop her.
Did she truly believe she could come and go as she pleased from a mate bond? That she could simply decide
our fate without my consent?
I picked up my phone and dialed a number. “Make sure she doesn’t leave the territory.”
The voice on the other end confirmed my orders. “Yes, Alpha”
I ended the call and stared out the window. Elena Blackwood would learn that no one walked away from
Marcus Blackwood.

The next morning, I drove to the Northern Territory Central Healing Institute. The familiar building looked different somehow, as if I was seeing it through new eyes.
I stood outside the Intensive Healing Ward, watching through the glass window. Patricia Blackthorne sat
beside David’s bed, her hand gently stroking his hair.
Since David’s hospitalization, she’d barely left his side. She’d moved her entire life into this sterile room,
sleeping in the uncomfortable chair, eating hospital food.
I wondered if my biological mother would have shown such devotion to me. The thought came unbidden, and
I bit my lip to suppress the chaotic emotions.
I opened the door to the ward.
Patricia looked back at me, her face etched with exhaustion and worry. Dark circles shadowed her eyes.
“Elena? Aren’t you working today?” She struggled to sit up straighter. “I went to your healing chamber to bring
you breakfast, but you weren’t there.”
“I’m on leave,” I said softly. “I can accompany you and David during this time.”
Patricia was stunned. Her eyes filled with tears she tried to blink away.
“I’ve always neglected you,” she whispered. “I know about the Blackthorne family’s bias. David is the only male
heir, but you… you were the hope I brought back after losing my own pup.”
Her voice cracked. “Even so, I couldn’t protect you. I had no say in Richard’s family. My status was too low,
and he wouldn’t side with me.”
She looked down at her hands. “I had no way to give you support, I thought it would be enough just to keep
you fed and clothed.”
Patricia’s shoulders shook. “When you mated Marcus, I hoped you’d finally find happiness. But I didn’t
expect… I saw how Richard used you to seek favors from the Blackwood family.”
“When choosing between David’s future and your feelings, I still chose my son.” Tears streamed down her
face. “Even if you blame me, it’s justified.”
I shook my head, kneeling beside her chair. “If you hadn’t brought me back to the Blackthorne family, I don’t
know where I’d be now.”
“Maybe wandering alone, maybe taken by rogue wolves. Maybe already dead.” I took her hand. “You saved me,
Mother.”
Seeing how understanding I was, Patricia’s heart broke for me. She was about to speak when the v
burst open.
Three Elite Guards appeared in the doorway. One stepped forward, his expression respectful but firm.
“Alpha Marcus has asked us to pick up David Blackthorne.”

Patricia’s face went white with terror. “Is he going to retaliate against us? Because David attacked Sophia
Rivers?”
The guard quickly shook his head. “Don’t be nervous, Mrs. Blackthorne. Alpha Marcus just wants to change the environment for David’s healing.”
“He’s already contacted Shadowmere Private Healing Sanctuary under the Blackwood family’s name. The

guard’s voice was reassuring. “All healing costs will be covered by Alpha Marcus.
Patricia’s mouth fell open in shock. Private healing sanctuaries were astronomically expensive, especially one owned by the Blackwood family.
The Blackwood family’s private sanctuary was legendary. Margaret Blackwood had founded it as part of Shadowmere Medical Consortium, equipped with the most advanced technology in the Northern Territory,
Wealthy pack leaders and influential figures chose the Blackwood sanctuary for treatment. A single mind–link could secure a Chief Healer–level professor for consultation.
Patricia looked at me, her eyes filled with desperate hope. “Is this real?”
I pursed my lips and said nothing. I didn’t understand Marcus’s motives. He’d clearly stated his disdain for the Blackthorne family’s greed, yet now he was extending aid.
The guard sensed my concerns. “David will have dedicated caregivers around the clock. The environment and
healing care will be far superior to this institute.”
Patricia’s voice trembled with emotion. “If Alpha Marcus has such intentions, we should trust his arrangements. David might have a better chance to awaken at a private sanctuary.”
Seeing the hope in her eyes, I couldn’t bear to shatter it. I nodded reluctantly.
The guard efficiently handled David’s transfer procedures. The Northern Territory Central Healing Institute
opened a green channel, processing everything with unprecedented speed.
Two neurosurgery nurses whispered nearby. “Didn’t they say Healer Elena was the disruptor who interfered
with Luna Sophia and Alpha Marcus’s bond?”
“But how can a disruptor’s family receive better treatment than the Alpha’s favored Luna’s family?”
“Isn’t it normal for a disruptor to be favored by the Alpha? You just have to be shameless.”
(Sophia’s POV)
The news of David Blackthorne’s transfer to the Blackwood family’s private sanctuary spread through the pack’s healing circles like wildfire.
My face turned terribly grim when I saw the reports on my comm–unit. The faint sound of sobbing came from
below.
Oliver knelt on sharp, broken crystals, his small knees numb with pain. He dared not cry out loudly.
“Damn disruptor!” I threw my comm–unit across the room, watching it shatter against the wall.
Looking at the child kneeling before me, whimpering “Mom, it hurts,” I felt no pity. Only disgust.
I kicked him hard. “Worthless pup! You can’t even secure the Alpha’s favor. What right do you have to cry?”
Oliver fell to the ground, his knees covered in blood mixed with crystal fragments. He didn’t wail or scream.
He wanted to see some remorse in my eyes. But when he saw only revulsion and contempt, his young heart
shattered.
Even so, he still tonged to please me. Oliver stretched out his small hand and grabbed the hem of my dress.
“Mom, don’t be angry. I will make Alpha Marcus like me.”

Hearing this, my cold face softened into a smile. I squatted down and looked at him.
“That’s my good pup. But Ollie, about your knee injury…”
“I fell myself.” Oliver’s face was pale from pain, but his voice was steady.
“Good pup.”
(Marcus’s POV)
The next day at the Blackwood Consortium, Amber Stone walked into my Command Chamber with documents. She knocked lightly on the door.
“Alpha Marcus.”
I closed the documents in my hand. “Enter.”
“Alpha Marcus, this is information regarding the rogue wolf, Vincent.” Amber Stone placed the file on my
desk.
“Oh, right. Nathan Sterling was looking for Vincent.”
