(Elena’s POV)
Faced with this devastating news, I went straight to the hospital morque. As soon as I entered, I saw Patricia, my adopted mother, her face ashen, guarding the freezer, refusing to move no matter how Dr. Samuel
Fletcher tried to persuade her
“Mrs. Blackthorne, please,” Dr. Fletcher said gently. “You need to rest. Standing here won’t bring him back.”
Patricia’s eyes were hollow, staring at the metal door. “I can’t leave him alone. He’s afraid of the cold.”
Dr. Fletcher looked at me with sympathy, suggesting that as a family member, I might be able to offer some comfort. After the doctor left, I approached the freezer step by step.
Looking at the middle–aged man lying inside, a face I knew so well that I both loved and hated, I almost lost
control.
I had seen death before, in the institute, every day pack members died from illness, accidents, or failed healing attempts. But seeing my own family die before my eyes was another experience and feeling entirely.
My chest trembled, and I took deep breaths to calm myself. Tears streamed down my face like beads.
“Mom, what exactly is going on? You’re lying to me, right? To stop me from severing the mate bond, Father
deliberately did this to make me compromise, right!*
“Tell me, please answer me!”
My breakdown brought Patricia back from her grief. She stared blankly at me, who was crying, and her dry lips slowly opened, her voice hoarse.
“This is real.”

I listened to everything expressionlessly, not speaking for a long time. Until I turned to leave, Patricia grabbed

“Elena, don’t go, we have no evidence, we can’t fight her!”
My voice was hoarse. “Evidence, there will be.”
I left.

(Sophia Rivers‘ POV)
Oliver Rivers had fallen from the building, and after emergency healing, he was out of danger and quickly transferred from the Intensive Healing Ward to a General Recovery Ward.
I tucked Oliver in and looked at Marcus, saying, “Marcus, I was really scared to death. Fortunately, Oliver is okay, otherwise I would regret it to death.”
Marcus looked at the IV drip bottle, his expression cold and indifferent. “How did they end up with you?”

My face remained innocent. “Marcus, if something had happened to Oliver, I’m afraid…”
“It won’t.” Marcus frowned, interrupting me.
I lowered my eyes. “Oliver is innocent, he doesn’t have a complete family, nor a father. Now that this has happened, I really don’t know what to do. Maybe, I should take Oliver away from the Northern Territory.”
“Sophia.” Marcus called my name, his handsome face complex, his eyes showing a hint of guilt. “You and
Oliver don’t have to leave.”
I said with difficulty, “But…”
“Til talk to the Blackthorne family about it, as for Oliver Marcus paused for half a second, rubbing his watch with his fingertips, looking directly at me. “I will temporarily send him to the Blackwood family, he is relatively

(Elena’s POV)
After handling Richard’s funeral procedures, I wanted to send Patricia home and met Nathan Sterling downstairs at the Institute Main Entrance.
Nathan got out of the car and walked towards us, his face becoming serious. “I heard about the changes in your family.”
I was stunned for a moment, unable to say anything.
Nathan nodded to Patricia and said softly, “Aunt, please accept my condolences.”
Patricia just nodded, her expression still dull and empty, as if only an empty shell remained.
“Nathan.” I said hoarsely, “I’ll send my mom back first.”

“I’m worried about your current state, I’ll drive you.”
I looked at him and nodded. “Thank you”
Nathan drove the two of us to the Blackthorne Pack Grounds. A neighbor saw this scene, unaware of the Blackthorne family’s changes, and thought Nathan was my mate.
“Hey, Patricia, is that your son–in–law coming to see you?” the neighbor called out.
Nathan’s action of helping Patricia out of the car paused when he heard the word “son–in–law.
Patricia couldn’t hear anything at the moment and ignored the neighbor’s question. I was only concerned about sending Patricia back to rest and naturally didn’t pay attention.
Seeing the mother and daughter ignoring her, the neighbor muttered, “What a depressing expression, like someone died!”
I helped Patricia into the Blackthorne Family Hall, with Nathan also helping. After Patricia returned to the bedroom, she finally opened her mouth.
