Chapter 102: Sophia’s Suicide

Chapter 102 Sophia’s Suicide

(Elena’s POV

I stared at my phone, my finger hovering over the send button. The message I was about to post in the

hospital staff group chat would change everything

Before I didn’t want to expose it, but now I can’t bear it anymore

With those words, I attached the image of my mating certificate with Marcus Blackwood. Six years of silence

six years of enduring whispers and rumors about being someone’s mistress, were about to end

I pressed send

The response was immediate. My phone began buzzing incessantly with notifications. I watched as the messages flooded in, expressions of shock and disbelief filling the screen

Is this real?Alpha Marcus has been mated to Elena for SIX YEARS?!So Sophia is actually the mistress?

can’t believe this!”

The truth was finally out. I felt a strange sense of relief wash over me. No more hiding, no more pretending

As I walked through the corridors of the Northern Territory Central Healing Institute, I could feel eyes following me. Whispers trailed in my wake, but they were different now filled with sympathy rather than judgment

I passed by Sophia’s office and paused. Through the glass, I could see her frantically typing on her phone, her face pale with fear. Around her office, other staff members were huddled together, clearly discuss bombshell I had dropped

My phone vibrated in my pocket. Sophia’s name flashed on the screen

Are you crazy? How could you post your mating certificate without Marcus’s consent? Do you know what you’ve done?”

I continued walking, a small smile playing on my lips. Let her panic. Let her feel a fraction of what I had endured all these years

Outside, I climbed into a waiting taxi at the Transit Station. Only then did I respond to Sophia’s message. sending a voice note instead of text

I don’t need Marcus’s approval to tell the truth,” I said calmly. You are indeed a mistress. That’s a fact.”

Her response was immediate and venomous. Marcus and I are in love! If anyone’s the third party here, it’s you!”

I laughed, the sound hollow even to my own ears. Yes, I’m the unloved mate. But tell me, Sophia, if Marcus loves you so much, why hasn’t he severed our mate bond to mark you?”

The silence on the other end was satisfying

Soon, I’ll let you have my place,” I continued, my voice dripping with false sweetness. “I hope you and Marcus will be together forever.”

I hung up, then methodically deactivated my work communication account and switched to my personal phone. The bridges were burning behind me, and I felt no desire to look back

The next morning. Marcus returned to Moonhaven Estate for breakfast. He looked tired but determined as he

sat across from me at the dining table

Tve purchased the tickets to the Alpine Territory he announced. We leave the day after tomorrow”

I nearly choked on my tea. The day after tomorrow? I wouldn’t even be here by then

“I have something for you, Marcus continued, pulling out a delicate jewelry box from an exclusive Northern Territory jeweler

Inside was a stunning moonstone necklace, the rare lunar crystals catching the light and throwing rainbows across the table. It was inlaid with silver and pearls, clearly a piece of significant value

Thank you,I said indifferently, closing the box without taking the necklace out

Marcus’s phone rang, interrupting whatever he was about to say. He glanced at the screen, his expression darkening when he saw it was Oliver’s caregiver

What is it?he answered impatiently. His face suddenly drained of color. Ill be right there”

He stood abruptly, I have something to resolve,Marcus said, studying my reaction. Wait for me here”

As soon as he left, I sent a message to Catherine Hayes, telling her to take the next two days off. My plans were accelerating, and I couldn’t afford any interference

(Marcus’s POV

I arrived at Sophia’s apartment to find the caregiver in hysterics. She pointed toward the bathroom, her words tumbling out incoherently

The sight that greeted me was horrific. Sophia lay in the bathtub, her wrist slashed and bleeding into the water. Her skin was deathly pale, her breathing shallow

I immediately pressed a towel against her wrist, trying to stem the flow of blood. Call an ambulan shouted to the caregiver

Sophia’s eyes fluttered open, focusing on me with effort. Don’t save me,she whispered. Just take care of Oliver.”

Her next words froze me in place. Do you remember the k********g? Many years ago?”

The word k********gtriggered something deep within me suddenly fragmented memories of darkness, pain, and fear that I had long buried

What did you say?I demanded, my voice hoarse

Sophia’s lips curved into a weak smile. I would still save you, even if I had the chance to do it again. Her voice was fading. I return the ten years of love to you.”

Her eyes closed as she lost consciousness. I lifted her from the bathtub, her body limp in my arms, just as the paramedics arrived

At the Northern Territory Central Healing Institute, I sat in the hallway outside the emergency room, my thoughts in chaos. The fragments of memory Sophia had awakened refused to form a coherent picture

Victoria Blackwood arrived, her face tight with concern. Marcus! Are you hurt?”

It’s Sophia,I explained, watching relief wash over her features. Mother, was I ever kidn*pped?”

The question clearly caught her off guard. Her expression shifted from surprise to caution. Why do you ask?”

Because I have no memory of it,I admitted. But Sophia mentioned it, and somethingresonated”

Victoria’s silence was confirmation enough. I had forgotten something significant something that had

shaped my life in ways I couldn’t comprehend

I forgot something, didn’t I?I said quietly

The memories felt like they belonged to someone else hazy impressions of fear and pain, followed by a sense of safety. But I couldn’t grasp the details, couldn’t see the face of whoever had saved me

It seems to be true.”
