The pack nurse’s footsteps echoed down the sterile corridor of Dr. Vincent Kane’s private clinic. Her voice rang out cheerfully as she approached my healing cot.
“Time to eat!” she called, balancing a tray of food.
I remained motionless, my breathing shallow and controlled. The nurse’s cheerful expression gradually shifted to concern as silence greeted her repeated calls.
“Miss Rivers? Are you alright?” Her voice carried a note of worry now.

Her pupils contracted violently as the poison coursed through her system. “You…” she gasped, her voice barely a whisper before consciousness fled.
Her body crumpled to the floor with a dull thud. I struggled off the bed, my disabled right hand trembling with
the effort.
Moving quickly despite my injuries, I closed and locked the door behind her. My fingers fumbled with her uniform as I stripped the unconscious nurse.
The fabric felt foreign against my skin as I dressed in her clothes. With tremendous effort, I lifted her limp form onto the healing cot where I had been imprisoned.
I stared down at my trembling right hand, the one Marcus had destroyed. Hatred burned in my chest like
molten silver.
My eyes filled with unwillingness and rage. I would escape the Southern Territory, no matter the cost.
(Elena Blackwood’s POV)
The surgical lights cast harsh shadows across the operating table as I assisted Professor Theodore Ashworth with our second procedure of the day. The clock on the wall read 2:30 PM.
Our patient was an eight–year–old werewolf pup suffering from a rare parasitic brain infection. Professor Theodore’s hands moved with the precision of decades of experience.
“Excellent work, Elena,” he said as we completed the delicate procedure. “Female lead healers are becoming increasingly rare in our field.”

My phone buzzed with an incoming call from Rachel Thompson. Her voice carried excitement and urgency
when I answered.
“Elena, I’ve decided to accept your invitation to come to Riverside City,” she said breathlessly. “But more importantly, I have crucial evidence you need to see.”
My heart began racing. “What kind of evidence?”
“A video showing Sophia Rivers pushing her own son Oliver off the building,” Rachel reve

Tears welled in my eyes as the truth finally revealed itself. I couldn’t decide whether to cry or laugh at having proof of Sophia’s monstrous cruelty.
Professor Hugo Ashworth appeared beside me, offering eye drops when he noticed my red, strained eyes.
