Chapter 275

When Emily woke up again, she ached all over, like her whole body had been run over by a truck, especially her head, which was pounding, feeling like it was about to split open.

Once Emily was clear-headed, her first instinct was to rush off and see Charles, but Austin quickly held her back.

“There are people watching over Mr. Bennett at all times. I’m keeping an eye on things, too. If anything happens, I’ll let you know right away. For now, you really need to rest,” he said.

Lucas’s tone was full of helplessness, even a bit annoyed. “You’re running around with a huge hole in your head. Did I spoil you too much, Emily, with all those meals?”

It was the first time Emily had ever heard him speak in such a sarcastic way. Instead of getting upset, she actually found it a little funny. “Are you mad at me?” she asked, a hint of curiosity in her voice.

Austin just pursed his lips and ignored her, which made Emily let out a soft chuckle, but the movement tugged at her head wound, making her wince in pain.

“What’s wrong?” Austin said and immediately leaned in, his face full of concern.

He carefully checked her over, making sure she had just accidentally pulled at the wound and that there was nothing else wrong. Only then did he let out a sigh of relief..

“Sorry for making you worry.” Just as he was about to say something, Emily spoke up first. Her heart was only shut to the Bennett Family and those who meant her harm, not to everyone. She knew Austin was worried about her.

Austin was caught off guard, and his annoyance froze for a moment.

When he first met Emily, she was brimming with explosive energy, but looked so frail it seemed like even a breeze could knock her over.

Austin had put so much thought into every single meal for her, and finally managed to nurse her back to some health.

But after just a few days with the Bennett Family, she ended up like this again. Of course, he was pissed off about it.

But Austin knew it wasn’t Emily’s fault. Just like when he was with the Pierce family, there were so many things he simply couldn’t control. If anyone was to blame, it was those brainless idiots in the Bennett Family.

Austin lowered his gaze, hiding the gloom in his eyes, and muttered, “If you know I’m worried, then do me a favor and get some rest, will you? I’m keeping an eye on Mr. Bennett.

“I’ve already contacted the top doctor in Beloris, and he’s on his way. Once you’re back on your feet and Mr. Bennett is out of the ICU, you can go see him then.”

Seeing Austin all worked up, Emily felt herself finally relax a little.

The top doctor in Beloris wasn’t easy to get a hold of. Even the Bennett Family might not have that kind of pull, but Austin had managed it.

Emily wasn’t sure if this would cause trouble for Austin, but since it was about Charles, there was no way she could refuse.

She knew Austin didn’t like hearing her say much thank you, so she obediently lay back down on the bed. “Okay, you’re the boss,” she replied.

Her head was still injured, after all, so as soon as Emily lay down, she was out like a light. The moment she was able to get

out of bed, she went straight to see Charles

Charles was out of danger, but he was still in a coma

During this time, Emily guarded the room tightly. No one was allowed near without her say so. Even doctors and nurses had to go through her before they could enter

The Bennett Family showed up a few times, trying to get in to see Charles, but the bodyguards turned them away every

time.

They marched over to confront Emily, but were blocked again by the bodyguards Austin had stationed there.

At this point, the Bennett Family was so pissed that they didn’t even care about saving their reputation anymore. They stood outside the door, shouting all kinds of insults at Emily, but still couldn’t even catch a glimpse of her.
