Chapter 329

“Your parents, you, and Andrew all had separate DNA tests done at different labs. It’s been proven that Lydia is truly part of the Bennett family by blood. None of this means anything.”

Contempt, anger, and disappointment were written all over Vincent’s face. He thought this was just another one of Emily’s tricks to get their attention. Without a second thought, he snatched the documents from Lucas’s hands, tore them up, and tossed them into the trash.

“What are you doing?” Lucas snapped, shoving him aside and quickly picking up the torn picces in the trash can. He carefully checked each one, making sure nothing was missing.

Even though he couldn’t believe it, deep down, he knew Emily had no reason to lie to him. Emily had never lied to him, not once. It was always him who failed to trust her. Lydia was the one who lied about everything.

“Do you believe that?” Vincent asked, seeing right through what Lucas was thinking.

Vincent was both angry and disappointed. “This is just another one of Emily’s tricks. After everything that’s gone down these past few years, haven’t you figured her out yet? She’s manipulative and only cares about herself and her status.”

“Shut up!” Lucas snapped, whipping around to shoot Vincent a vicious glare, cursing himself all over again for ever bringing Vincent along today. Lucas thought, ‘He’s just as clueless and impossible as the rest of the Bennett family!’

Lucas gathered every last scrap of the documents Vincent had torn up, even rifling through the trash to make sure nothing was missing, before carefully placing them back into the file bag.

He glared fiercely at Vincent. “Whether these are real or not, I’ll find myself. If you’ve got so much time to kill, why don’t you pay attention to Lydia? Maybe then you’ll see what a liar she is.” With that, Lucas just stormed off.

Vincent was left standing there, totally stunned. When he finally snapped out of it, rage boiled up inside him. “Lucas, if you even think about dragging Lydia into this mess, I’ll not let you go.”

Vincent thought Lydia was a kind and innocent girl. If she ever found out her brother was doubting her bloodline, it would crush her.

Vincent couldn’t stand the thought of Lydia getting hurt, so there was no way he’d let Lucas bring any of this to her. And of course, he wasn’t about to mention it to Lydia himself, either.

Of course, Lucas had no intention of running to Lydia with these files and confronting her. He knew everything well. Just like Vincent’s mind, if he brought this stuff to his family, they’d dismiss it as just another one of Emily’s ploys for attention.

Every time Emily tried to show them proof, that was always their reaction. Lucas knew he needed evidence so ironclad that his family would be left speechless; only then could he truly prove Lydia was lying.

That was why Lydia was totally in the dark that Lucas was starting to doubt her, so she hadn’t taken any precautions at all.

The night pressed down, thick and suffocating. Emily suddenly sucked in a sharp breath and snapped awake. Her mind was still reeling from that familiar scent of knockout drugs. She hadn’t even registered where she was; her face was pale with terror and confusion.

That smell she’d only ever encountered once in her life. That had nearly sent her straight into St. Gabriel Reform Academy’s danger. She could never forget that smell.

Before Emily could even wrap her head around what was happening, a voice that sounded familiar suddenly rang out in her

ear.

The person sneered, “I figured with how easy your life’s been lately, you’d already forgotten everything that happened at St.
