Chapter 322

Just as she was trying to figure out her next move, a sudden commotion caught everyone’s attention.

A woman, who looked to be in her forties or fifties, slowly made her way down the spiral staircase.

She wasn’t dressed in a fancy gown for the occasion. Instead, she wore an outfit that came off as laid-back and understated, yet she still exuded an undeniable elegance.

Someone exclaimed, “It’s Amy.”

A lot of people immediately started crowding around Amy, including the ones who had been blocking Emily’s way.

Lydia glanced around, then quickly followed the crowd, discreetly tucking the invitation away.

Watching them all deliberately avoid her, pretending like it was just a coincidence, Emily couldn’t help but find it kind of funny. She didn’t want to make a scene at an event like this, so she didn’t bother trying to confront them.

As for the invitation Lydia had taken, it wasn’t really that important anyway, so Emily didn’t bother chasing after it.

Meanwhile, Lydia was running her fingers over the invitation in her bag, her gaze sharp and ruthless. She thought, ‘No matter who Tato used to be, from now on, Tato is me and me alone.

‘As for Emily, I’ll make sure that in Amy’s eyes she remains nothing but a joke-someone never to be taken seriously.

After spending two years at St. Gabriel Reform Academy, Emily was already an outsider in the art world. And since she was keeping things low-key today, barely anyone even noticed she was there.

That just made it easier for her to keep a close watch on Lydia, looking for the perfect chance to quietly snag a bit of her DNA without anyone catching on.

But no matter where Lydia went, she always had a crowd trailing after her. Even Amy looked at her like she was someone special, staying by her side and talking to her for ages.

Thanks to Amy’s attitude, even more people flocked to Lydia’s side.

Just as Emily was hesitating about how to make her move, Lydia unexpectedly slipped away from the people around her and walked straight toward Emily.

This was a golden opportunity for Emily. But Lydia was never the type to approach someone without a reason-there was no way she was coming over for nothing. Emily didn’t avoid Lydia, but she grew even more wary.

Emily was standing in a corner of the hall, and just around the bend was a small balcony that almost nobody ever visited.

Lydia stopped a short distance from Emily, holding a gift box in her hands. She asked, “Emily, since you’re here for Amy’s birthday party, you must have brought a present, right?”

Of course, Emily had brought a gift-no one would show up to a birthday party like this empty-handed.

But with a party this big, guests couldn’t just carry their gifts around while chatting and drinking, so there were people assigned to collect and register all the presents.

Emily had already handed her gift to the staff in charge. She thought, “There’s no way Lydia doesn’t know that. Yet she still came over and asked about it-there is definitely something fishy going on.

Emily eyed Lydia warily and asked, “What are you up to?”

Lydia smiled and said, “I know you gave Amy a set of the latest paints. Sure, they’ve got every color, but next to my gift, they don’t even stand a chance.

“So, you must be so jealous of me-jealous enough to maybe snap and do something crazy.” With that, she slowly opened the gift box in her hands, revealing a set of stunning, glittering jewelry.

Emily, who had grown up surrounded by luxury, recognized at a glance that the jewelry was worth a fortune.

But right now, the pieces lying in the box looked like they’d been deliberately damaged-broken and scattered, and they didn’t look the least bit fancy anymore.

Emily’s heart skipped a beat-she’d just realized what Lydia was about to do when Lydia suddenly let out a high-pitched

scream.
