Just as she was trying to figure out her next move, a sudden commotion caught everyone’s attention.
A woman, who looked to be in her forties or fifties, slowly made her way down the spiral staircase.
She wasn’t dressed in a fancy gown for the occasion. Instead, she wore an outfit that came off as laid-back and understated, yet she still exuded an undeniable elegance.
Someone exclaimed, “It’s Amy.”
A lot of people immediately started crowding around Amy, including the ones who had been blocking Emily’s way.
Lydia glanced around, then quickly followed the crowd, discreetly tucking the invitation away.
Watching them all deliberately avoid her, pretending like it was just a coincidence, Emily couldn’t help but find it kind of funny. She didn’t want to make a scene at an event like this, so she didn’t bother trying to confront them.
As for the invitation Lydia had taken, it wasn’t really that important anyway, so Emily didn’t bother chasing after it.

“So, you must be so jealous of me-jealous enough to maybe snap and do something crazy.” With that, she slowly opened the gift box in her hands, revealing a set of stunning, glittering jewelry.
Emily, who had grown up surrounded by luxury, recognized at a glance that the jewelry was worth a fortune.
But right now, the pieces lying in the box looked like they’d been deliberately damaged-broken and scattered, and they didn’t look the least bit fancy anymore.
