Chapter 15
Her words sounded sincere enough, at least on the surface.
The police watched her bow repeatedly while apologizing, while Ethan–who should have stayed to handle this mess–had walked away without a second thought. They didn’t feel like making this more complicated than it needed to be: “Fine, your parents didn’t actually assault any officers, so we’ll let that slide. But whether to press charges is up to the victims.”
They had to do their job properly, but whether Tiffany’s father would face criminal charges ultimately depended on Pete and Martha’s decision.
Tiffany could flip faster than a switch. To get what she wanted, she kept bowing to Pete and Martha, even making moves like she was about to get on her knees.
Pete and Martha had never seen such a performance and waved her off: “Cut the act–we know exactly who you are. If you actually knelt down, we’d probably lose years off our lives! As long as you’re in this house, Martha and I are taking time off to recover. And this counts as a workplace injury!”
The fact that they were making demands meant they were willing to let it go. Tiffany nearly cried with relief, sweet–talked them some more, arranged for someone to take them to the hospital, and finally managed to send them off with the police.
As soon as the police were gone, Tiffany’s father immediately went back to his arrogant attitude, ordering her mother around: “Come massage my shoulders–those damn cops really roughed me up!”
Her mother started rubbing his shoulders while complaining to Tiffany: “And you! How could you not hear all that noise downstairs? If you’d brought Ethan down here sooner instead of letting him get embarrassed, none of this would’ve happened!”
The two of them ganged up on Tiffany, acting like the whole mess was her fault for not handling things better, not because they were new riches assholes who had to lord it over people they used to be equals with.
Tiffany had been humiliated enough for one day and snapped back: “Dad, Mom, can you please stop sabotaging me? It took everything I had to smooth this over! And Ethan hates it when women pressure him for commitment–can’t you be smarter about this?!”
After tonight’s disaster, even if Ethan didn’t take his anger out on her directly, he’d definitely think twice about marrying her. All her hard work might be down the drain.
But instead of comforting her, both parents just kept blaming her.
“You’re so much younger than him–youth and beauty are your biggest assets! You should have made Ethan tell them to let Dad go. If he’s really as crazy about you as you claim, he wouldn’t ignore something this simple!”
“Your father’s right. If you can’t even control one man, what was the point of sleeping with him all this time?”
“You’re embarrassed by us, aren’t you? Don’t forget who taught you how to scheme your way into replacing Claire. If you can’t make Ethan do whatever you want, then you’re too useless…”
These cold, calculating criticisms made Tiffany furious and frustrated, but all she could do was admit they were right.
Ethan had treated Claire way better than he treated her. She needed to step up her game if she wanted to fix this.
The thought made Tiffany panic. What if some other woman tried to seduce Ethan while he was alone at the office?

Chapter 15
She rushed back to the bedroom to get ready, putting on the sexy lingerie under a long coat. From the outside, she looked perfectly normal, but with a few strategic button moves, she could drive Ethan wild. Maybe they could even try something new in his office.
