Chapter 16
Tiffany had big plans, but when she reached Ethan’s office and was about to knock, her face fell.
Through the door, she could hear Ethan laughing and joking around with his buddies. With all those people in there, how was she supposed to work her magic?
Just as Tiffany was debating whether to head home and stick to her original plan of waiting for Ethan, someone mentioned
her name.
“Ethan, you’ve been messing around with that nanny Tiffany for a while now, right? Compared to your wife Claire, she’s plain as hell–average body, not too bright, and her background is trash. I honestly don’t get what you see in her.”
The speaker was one of Ethan’s usual drinking buddies, casually comparing Tiffany to Claire and tearing her apart in the
process.
Tiffany’s face burned with humiliation. She pulled her hand back from the door and took several deep breaths to steady
herself..
Surely Ethan would defend her, right? With that hope, she listened as he described her to his friends with obvious disdain: “She can’t even compare to my wife.”
His buddy played along: “Well, of course not. Your wife’s a knockout–nobody could measure up to her.”
Not only did Ethan agree, he started trashing Tiffany without mercy: “It’s not just her looks. I thought she had that whole innocent schoolgirl thing going for her, but after sleeping with her? Pretty boring.”
He’d been screwing around with Tiffany for a while now and was getting bored. Time to dump her and bring Claire back home.
His friend picked up on his attitude and joked: “If she’s that boring, how about passing her my way? I’ve never tried that type
before.”
These men were talking about her like she wasn’t even human–like she was some object way beneath their social class.
Ethan wasn’t offended in the slightest. He casually agreed: “Sure, why not? When I’m done with her, you can have a go.”
He was talking about Tiffany like she wasn’t a living person at all, but some toy that could be traded around.
Tiffany felt ice running through her veins. After all her efforts to please him, this was how little he thought of her. But she didn’t dare make a sound–she just wanted to get out of there before they discovered her.
Then, amid all the laughter, someone decided to push their luck: “So what about your wife? She up for grabs too?”
The atmosphere in the office instantly shifted.
The laughter died completely, followed by a loud crash as Ethan exploded with rage, grabbing an ashtray and hurling it at whoever had spoken.
His friends went dead silent–nobody dared say another word.
After throwing the ashtray, Ethan’s face turned ashen. He sat in furious silence, his eyes locked on the guy who’d made the joke like he was ready to kill him.
The guy had no choice but to apologize: “I’m sorry, Ethan. I was just joking around… no, I was being a complete idiot. Please

Seeing Ethan’s face was still thunderous, the others quickly jumped in to smoothe things over.
“yeah, he was just talking nonsense. We’ve all known each other forever–everyone knows your wife is off limits. Even Chunlang abom her wrong is a death sentence.”
“Seriously, what were you thinking saying something like that?”
“My bad, my bad. I never should have mentioned your wife in the same breath as that kind of woman…”
hat last comment shattered what was left of Tiffany’s composure.
Why was Claire Ethan’s precious darling while she was just some woman who could be passed around like a party favor?!
