Jack’s wife didn’t see it coming. With that blow, she toppled right off Flona and hit the ground hard. Even then, she reached out toward Jack and snapped, “How dare you hit mel”
Fiona scrambled up from the floor, and Jack immediately tossed the stick aside and rushed over to help her up. “Are you alright?” he asked
anxiously.
“It hurts so much, Jack. I swear, it hurts like hell!” Fiona whimpered.
Anna’s eyes went wide in shock. She never imagined Fiona could ever act all cutesy like that. She thought it was disgusting to watch.
Andrew’s face was as black as thunder.
Meanwhile, Jack was fussing over Fiona, blowing on her wounds like some shameless pair of lovers.
Someone nearby shouted, “Jack, call an ambulance. If your wife dies, you’ll end up in jail.”
“That’s right, Jack. Your wife never did anything to deserve this. You’re the one who wronged her. If she really dies, could you really live with
that on your conscience?” someone else added.
Jack looked down at the woman on the ground. There was still guilt in his eyes. Even if he never really liked her, after all those years together,
he definitely didn’t want her dead. “I’ll take her to the hospital,” he said.
Jack was about to take his wife to the hospital when Fiona, who was also covered in bruises, spoke up, “Jack, I need to go to the hospital
too.”
“Alright. I’ll take both of you,” he replied. Jack actually had a car at home, not much, just a used ride, but it was better than nothing. He drove them both to the hospital.
Anna glanced at Andrew. “Dad, should we keep following them?”
“Yeah. And make sure Jack’s wife’s family hears about this,” Andrew said.
Anna understood what he meant and nodded.
At the hospital, the doctor said Jack’s wife needed emergency treatment first. But Jack insisted, “Doctor, can you check on her first? She’s got a bunch of injuries too,” nodding toward Fiona.
“We only see the most serious cases first. She just has some scrapes and bruises. It’s nothing urgent,” the doctor replied.
“But I’m paying for this,” Jack protested.
“That’s just how it works hère. There’ll be other doctors available soon. Take her to one of them,” the doctor said, not budging.
If it weren’t for the emergency, the doctor would’ve let Jack have it. ‘What a scumbag!‘ the doctor cursed to himself. ‘That woman’s definitely
a homewrecker. Sooner or later, he’s going to regret making such a stupid choice.‘
Jack was fussing over Fiona as he took her to see another doctor. But he was picky. If the doctor was a man, he flat–out refused, so they had to find a woman doctor.
Before they could even finish applying the medicine to her wounds, someone outside started yelling, “Where’s my sister? Where’s my sister?”
As soon as Jack heard his brother–in–law’s voice, his whole body tensed up.

Chapter 158
Fiona knew all about Jack’s family and how scared he was of his brother–in–law. She couldn’t figure out why he’d suddenly shown up.
“Baby, I need to find somewhere to hide. Don’t let him see me,” Jack whispered.
Fiona nodded.

But before he could move, his brother–in–law had already spotted him and grabbed him by the collar. “Where’s my sister?” he demanded.
Jack was actually a total coward. If his wife hadn’t gone back to her family for a few days, he never would’ve dared to bring Fiona over.
Now, seeing his brother–in–law storming over, he was so scared he nearly peed his pants. “She’s getting emergency treatment right now. D- don’t freak out,” he stammered.
“How am I supposed to stay calm? Why does my sister need emergency treatment? Did you do something to her or what?” his brother–in–law snapped.
“What could I even do to her? I didn’t do anything! She just suddenly got sick, so I brought her to the hospital,” Jack said, trying to sound innocent.
“You think I’m gonna buy that? I’ve already heard the whole story. My sister’s been away these past few days, and you brought some woman into the house. That’s her, isn’t it?” his brother–in–law said, his eyes narrowing as he glared at Fiona.
Fiona was freaking out. “I-”
“Oh, so it’s you!” Jack’s brother–in–law recognized her. “Aren’t you from the Clark family? My brother–in–law was into you even before h
married.
“Who would’ve thought, after all these years, you’d still end up messing around with him? You homewrecker, just wait and see how I’ll deal
with you!”
With that, he shoved Jack aside and grabbed Fiona, hitting her hard.
Fiona stood no chance against a man like him. She kept begging for mercy, desperately pleading with Jack to save her.
Jack did want to help, but he just didn’t have the guts. His brother–in–law was seeing red, and if he tried to step in, he’d just end up getting his own face smashed in. ‘No way, I can’t risk it!‘ he told himself.

Andrew watched the scene with a cold snort. “Serves her right! She really thought she could latch onto someone else and make a fool out of me? If she dares to cheat on me, there’s no way I’ll let her off easy.”
Anna felt a bitter ache in her heart. Sure, she wanted Fiona to get what she deserved, but seeing her parents like this just made it clear that her family was falling apart for good.
And she couldn’t figure out why. Fiona would be so shameless, actually sleeping with such a disgusting guy as Jack. “Dad, maybe we should just go home,” Anna said quietly.
“Go home? No way. I want to see her hit rock bottom,” Andrew replied coldly.
Fighting wasn’t allowed in hospitals, so the security guards outside rushed in and pulled Jack’s brother–in–law away.
Fiona shouted, “I’m calling the police. I’m calling the police.”
Panicking, Jack quickly said, “No, don’t call the police. Baby, listen to me. We’re already having an affair. If you call the cops, my wife will divorce me, and I’ll walk away with nothing.
“At least we have a place to stay right now, but if I get kicked out, we’ll have nowhere to go. Besides, you’re the homewrecker here, and things

Fiona froze as she realized that was true. ‘So I just got beaten up for nothing?‘ she thought, feeling bitter and helpless. She’d finally managed to get the medicine on, and now she had to start all over again.
Jack tried to soothe her, his voice low and nervous. “Baby, maybe you should just go home for now. If her whole family shows up and catches you here with me, who knows what kind of trouble they’ll cause for you?”
Fiona had just witnessed it herself. Jack didn’t even try to help her. ‘Figures,‘ she thought with a bitter laugh. I’m not even the real wife. Of course I can’t count on him.’
But this thing between her and Andrew probably wouldn’t last either. Fiona limped out of the hospital, feeling defeated.
Not long after, two people showed up in front of her. Startled, she looked up at them and asked nervously, “What are you two doing here?”
Andrew slapped her hard across the face. “You bitch! How dare you sleep around behind my back with another man? Why didn’t they just beat you to death back there?”
Fiona was stunned by the slap. Before she could even react, Andrew slapped her again.
“Last time I hit you, you didn’t learn a thing. Instead of crawling back to apologize and admit you were wrong, you went off and slept with Jack. How did I end up with a bitch like you?” he shouted, his voice full of rage.
Fiona suddenly burst out laughing. “You got cheated on. Yeah, I did it on purpose. So what? I’ve worked my ass off for your family all these years, and how have you treated me?
“Especially your mom, whenever she didn’t like something, you always took her side. You never once stood up for me. I cheated on you just to spite you, and I’m gonna take every penny you’ve got.”
