Chapter 350
Emily was extremely perceptive to people’s gazes; she sensed his murderous intent almost instantly. But she didn’t show a hint of fear. She met his eyes calmly. “So, are you threatening me now, Jeremy?”
Jeremy let out a cold laugh. “You started threatening me first.”
“I never meant to threaten you, and I never wanted to be your enemy,” Emily said, tilting her head slightly. “If I really wanted to threaten you, I would have taken Yvonne from the hospital and brought both her and Walter straight to your parents.”
Jeremy’s face changed, and he suddenly reached out to grab her by the neck. “Are you telling me you have Walter?”
Ever since Walter had mysteriously vanished from the hospital, Jeremy had been secretly searching for him. Never in his wildest dreams did he think Walter would end up in Emily’s hands.
Feeling Jeremy’s grip tightening around her neck, Emily knew he genuinely wanted to kill her right then and there, but she stayed completely calm.
They were out in the open, with people coming and going all around. No matter how furious Jeremy got, he wouldn’t dare actually do anything to her in a place like this.
So, she didn’t fight back. Instead, she said, “Zack warned me about what kind of person you are. The moment you found out I’d been at St. Gabriel Reform Academy and started getting close to me, I knew you wouldn’t let me off.
“That’s why I secretly took Walter away to protect myself. If Zack had really told me where all that stuff was, I wouldn’t have needed to go that far.”
Jeremy narrowed his eyes, still suspicious, but finally let go of her neck. In public, he really couldn’t do anything to her, but that didn’t mean he was going to let her off the hook.
He managed to secure his position as the young master of the Windrose family by leveraging his status as the nanny’s son. Even though the Windroses knew his true identity, they still chose him over Zack, all because his caution and suspicion.
In just a few breaths, Jeremy had regained his gentle, gentlemanly demeanor, as if the sinister look from moments ago had never been there at all.
“You know what happened to the Zwick family, don’t you, Ms. Harper? If you think you can threaten me with the same leverage, without the Bennett family backing you up, how long do you think you’ll last?”
Emily rubbed her sore neck, still calm. “Well, then, I guess you’ll just have to wait and see.” The two of them parted ways, both clearly unhappy with how things ended.
Jeremy, realizing he’d been played, wasn’t about to waste any more time playing along with Lydia’s act. This finally gave Lydia some breathing room.
After her date with Vincent, where she’d been trying to rebuild their relationship, she got home and practically collapsed
onto her bed.
She’d been with Vincent for so long, and he’d never once thrown a tantrum at her before. She honestly had no idea he’d be this hard to coax when he finally did get upset.
She’d done everything she could, and she could feel Vincent starting to soften toward her, but things between them just weren’t like they used to be.
It still felt like there was something keeping them apart. Lydia had gotten used to being spoiled by everyone these past few years, so she wasn’t nearly as patient as she used to be.

If Vincent weren’t the main character, she would’ve thrown in the towel a long time ago. Lydia pulled herself together, determined to give it her all next time and really try to win Vincent back over on their next date.
But before she could even get her emotions in check, the door was suddenly kicked open with a loud bang. The kick was so fierce, it seemed like the door might be smashed to pieces.
