Chapter 85 Amalie

When I finally awaken, I feel like I have slept for days. I open my eyes and notice that the bed is empty. Both of my mates are gone, I feel the bed where they had been, it’s cold. I let out a disappointed sigh as I get up. I had been hoping to wake up with Cal and Mark.

I grab a sweatshirt that someone had left in my room for me. Slipping it on, I leave my room. I follow my nose to the kitchen. As I near the kitchen, I can hear voices.

“Shh, you’ll wake her,” Cal hisses at someone.

“I’m not being loud,” Mark hisses back. He then promptly drops a pan.

“You loud,” Rose giggles.

“That they are,” I say as I enter the kitchen.

“Mommy!” Rose says as she climbs off the chair she had been standing on.

I pick up Rose and walk towards the twins. “What’s all this?” I ask.

Mark looks down sheepishly. Cal looks bashful, it’s a new look on him. “We were trying to make you breakfast in

bed,” Cal says.

“Where’s Uncle Mike? He usually runs the kitchen,” I say as I place a kiss on Cal’s lips and then Mark’s.

“He and Uncle Will went out for the day,” Mark smiles as he breaks the kiss.

“We get the house to ourselves as a family,” Cal smirks.

“Now, back to bed,” Mark orders.

“And if I don’t want to?” I challenge.

“Love, you do not want to start that when we don’t have a babysitter on hand,” Cal tells me pointedly.

“Spoilsport,” I laugh as I turn to carry Rose out of the kitchen and back to my room.

Before I am able to leave the kitchen, both of my mates pull us back towards them. “You owe us a date darling,” Mark whispers into my ear.

“We spent too long at the party last night,” Cal agrees.

“Well, that’s not my fault,” I sass them.

“No, but we did not get to spend near enough time seeing you dressed up,” Cal smirks.

I look up at the twins, they look down at me. Something in my stomach flutters.

Chapter 85 Amalie

“You funny,” Rose laughs at us.

“Go lay down,” Mark chuckles as he places a kiss on Rose’s forehead.

I make my way back to my room in a daze. Rose talks about her morning and how she was helping. As much as I want to, I can’t focus on what she is saying. All I can think about is the way the twins were looking at me. Goddess above, if Rose had been out of the house, I would have jumped them right then and there.

When I reach my room, Rose jumps out of my arms and climbs into bed. She snuggles into my blankets and continues to talk. She is now telling me about the dresses she saw last night.

I sit down on the bed and move Rose into my lap. Rose smiles up at me and adjusts the blanket. I place a kiss on her head and hold her tight.

“Mama?” Rose asks me suddenly, her tone changing.

“Yes, Rosebud,” I say to her.

“You happy?” Rose asks me as serious as she can appear.

“Rose,” I start as I adjust her so she is looking at me, “are you not happy?”

“Scared,” she replies as she snuggles into me.

“Oh baby,” I say as I wrap my arms around her. “What are you scared of?”

“Pretend,” she answers me.

“Are you scared that this is all pretend and not real?” I clarify.

Rose nods her head. I can feel my shirt get slightly, damp from her tears.

“Oh, sweetheart,” I say as I hold her closely. How do I comfort my pup over a concern she has, when I feel the same way? I feel as if I am one bad night away from waking up and this all being a dream. I think over my next words carefully. “I promise that you are loved and safe,” I tell her.

She nods her head as she stays snuggled into m chest. My heart breaks a little bit at this.

“Okay,” Mark announces as he pushes open the door to my room. “We come with breakfast.”

And he was not kidding. Mark carries in a tray piled with waffles, fruit, bacon and sausages. Cal is carrying a tray with different drinks. Mark sets his tray on the table as Cal puts his on the nightstand. Mark then dashes out of the room. He is back before I can ask/where he went. Mark sets up a new tray on my lap as Cal gently takes Rose from my lap. Cal then sits back beside me.

1 adjust the tray and look up at Márk. He smiles as he sets a plate on my tray. “And what would my lovely mate like to eat on this fine morning? Mark asks me.

“Some of everything?” I ask hésitantly.

Chapter 85 Amalie

“The lady would like a mix,” Mark says with a flourish as he prepares a plate for me. Once he is done, Mark places the plate on the tray. He then hands me some silverware. He places a small mug of coffee down on the tray.

Cal fixes himself and Rose a plate. Rose points to what she wants. Once Cal is done, he sits back and pulls out a tray. Rose sits in his lap as Cal adjusts everything. He then starts to cut up the food. Cal then pulls out a small fork and hands it to Rose.

“Mommy lookie! Mine!” Rose exclaims as she starts to use her own fork.

“Thank you,” I tell both of my mates.

Mark smiles at me, it’s so bright and cheerful. Cal smiles softly, his smile is just as warm as his brother’s.

“We happy family,” Rose says happily.

“That we are,” I agree as I lean over and kiss Cal. He returns the kiss with earnest. Once we break, I grab a hold of Mark. I yank him to me and kiss him. He kisses me with so much warmth.
