Chapter 357

Vincent had clearly been there for a while and had caught part of what happened. But he couldn’t figure out why Lucas was so sure those test results were real, or why Emily would say something so serious.

Lucas was in a bit of a daze, and it took him a while to realize who was standing in front of him. “Vincent.” Lucas’s voice was hoarse, as if he were on the verge of tears.

Suddenly, something occurred to him, and he grabbed Vincent’s hand. “Vincent, you are looking into what happened to Emily during those two years at St. Gabriel Reform Academy. Did you find anything?

“Is it because of what happened during those two years that she hates me this much?” His voice and hands were trembling. “I know it’s all my fault, I really screwed up.

“If you tell me what she went through, I’ll go through the same pain, even ten times worse if that’s what it takes for her to forgive me.”

The impulsive and arrogant Lucas was showing this kind of vulnerability and pain in front of everyone for the very first time.

Vincent had grown up with Lucas and had always treated him like a real little brother. Seeing Lucas in such pain, it hurt Vincent too.

He opened his mouth, hesitating a little before saying, “I couldn’t find out what she went through during those two years, but there’s definitely something strange about St. Gabriel Reform Academy.”

The Shaw family was just as influential as the Bennett Family in Cloudridge. With his resources, it should have been impossible for Vincent to come up empty-handed, even if St. Gabriel Reform Academy was a completely closed-off institution.

Yet, he hadn’t been able to find out anything at all. He couldn’t even dig up a single thing about who Emily’s classmates or teachers were.

Vincent was soon to be the one running the whole Shaw family, so he definitely had both the brains and the means. This kind of weirdness was more than enough to make him suspicious.

He could tell there was something seriously off about St. Gabriel Reform Academy, and he’d even thought about checking it out himself, but he couldn’t even get through the front gate.

Even when he tried to use the Shaw family’s influence to put pressure on them, it was completely useless. He couldn’t do a thing about the academy.

It was like there were some big shots pulling the strings behind the scenes. People were way more powerful than the Shaw family. But Vincent couldn’t tell Lucas any of this. Lucas was completely obsessed, refusing to give up until he got an answer.

He seemed to believe that by going through the same experiences as Emily and personally feeling the injustices she endured, he could earn her forgiveness and restore their relationship to how it was before Lydia came into the Bennett family.

One was desperate for answers, the other at a loss for words. The two of them nearly got into a shouting match right at the entrance of the Bennett Group. Until a new figure appeared.

“If

f you guys want to know about St. Gabriel Reform Academy, I might know something.” Both of them turned around and saw that Jeremy had walked over at some point.

Since Jeremy had business dealings with the Bennett Group and had been hanging around Lydia a lot lately, he’d been in

and out of the Bennett Group pretty often, so it wasn’t surprising to bump into him here.

As soon as Lucas heard that Jeremy knew something about St. Gabriel Reform Academy, he rushed over, his whole body tense with anxiety. “What do you know? Tell me everything.

“Is St. Gabriel Reform Academy not what it looks like on the surface? Did Emily come back a totally different person because of what happened to her there? Was she bullied?”

Lucas looked like he was losing it, completely fixated on this.

All he could think about was the cold, distant look Emily had given him just now, and how she didn’t bother to hide her disgust and resentment toward him. He needed to know what exactly he had done wrong.
