Chapter 355

“No way. There’s absolutely no way I could’ve messed this up,” Lucas said with conviction. “You guys must be the ones who made a mistake.”

He was so afraid something like this would happen that he made sure to double-check every step, thinking through every possible way things could go wrong. That was why he could swear he hadn’t made a single mistake.

The only way there could be two totally different results like this was if something went wrong at their institution.

Lucas just couldn’t accept it. He insisted on running more tests, even suggesting they go to different places and have several other institutions do the testing.

Watching him act like a madman, his families’ patience finally snapped.

“That’s enough.” Andrew’s eyes blazed with anger and disappointment. “Lucas, how much longer are you going to keep this up?”

He didn’t give Lucas any chance. With that one sentence, he put an end to it right there. “If you’re so determined to make a scene with Emily, then get out of the Bennett Family with her and don’t ever come back.”

With that, he immediately escorted the tearful Lydia away. Gale and Emma didn’t even spare Lucas a glance as they stormed off in anger.

Only Vincent, as he was leaving, turned back to glance at Lucas. For some reason, something just felt off in his gut. He couldn’t quite put his finger on what it was, though.

But that feeling stuck with him like a shadow, making it hard for him to focus on anything. Feeling restless, Vincent just went straight to find Lucas. He needed to talk things over with him.

Vincent thought it might actually be pretty hard to find Lucas. After all, all these years, Lucas had relied on his status as a Bennett for everything.

Now that the word was out, he’d been kicked out of the Bennett Family. People like him are always the hardest to track down.

But to his surprise, Lucas had actually gone straight to Bennett Group, not even caring about all the gawkers pointing fingers and gossiping about him.

Of course, he wasn’t there to beg Lydia to forgive him, and he definitely wasn’t there to grovel in front of Andrew. He was there to apologize to Emily.

He pulled out the test reports he’d dug up and explained what had happened. “I don’t know what tricks Lydia used to mess with things, but I still believe in the results I got.”

“Emily, I was wrong. I really realize I messed up.” Lucas’s voice had a faint sob to it, but he just kept stammering, unable to get the words out.

Emily didn’t even hear what he was saying. She just stared blankly at the test results in her hands, feeling like she’d been plunged into an icy abyss.

‘So, I’m the real Bennett Family blood? I’m actually Gale and Emma’s daughter? I’m not some fake who stole someone else’s life, Emily thought.

Right then, Emily had no idea what she was even feeling inside. She just stared blankly at those big, glaring words on the test results, and out of nowhere, she just started laughing.

Emily had never thought something so absurd could exist. The Bennetts had treated her like a precious gem for eighteen years, believing she was of their bloodline, but once they discovered she wasn’t their biological child, they immediately withdrew all their affection from her.

They threw every cruel word they could think of at her, humiliating her without mercy, and then instantly poured all their love onto Lydia. They even blamed her for making their real daughter suffer out in the world all those years.

And now, they were telling her that the whole thing was nothing but a lie-that she was never some imposter who took someone else’s place. Isn’t it just hilarious? she thought.

Emily laughed harder and harder, tears rolling down her cheeks as she doubled over, unable to straighten up from laughing so much. Seeing her like this, Lucas suddenly felt a wave of panic. “What’s wrong with you?”
