Chapter 405

Just as Lydia was gloating triumphantly, the curtains next to her were yanked open. Lydia whipped her head around in terror, only to see that there was a hidden space and the whole Bennett Family and Vincent were sitting there.

The whole Bennett Family and Vincent had heard everything Lydia just said.

Lydia’s face went deathly pale. She was just about to explain herself when Vincent stormed over in a flash and clamped his

hand around her neck.

Vincent said, “Was all that true? Did you take everything that belonged to Emily? Did you deceive all of us?”

Lydia’s face was full of terror. She said, “No, Vincent. Please, let me explain…”

“No need to explain.” Lucas stepped forward, cutting Lydia off. “Every time you start explaining, it’s like we’re under some kind of spell and we just do whatever you say, totally losing our minds. It was all your so-called system’s doing, wasn’t it?”

Lydia shook her head frantically and said, “No, there is no system. It was… It was Emily! She set me up. It was all Emily…”

This time, it was Emma who cut Lydia off with a slap across the face.

Emma looked utterly disappointed. She said, “We all heard it, and you still want to lie to us? How can there be someone as malicious as you in the world?”

Lydia covered her face, her eyes wide with disbelief. She shook her head in panic and stammered, “No. That’s not true.” But she couldn’t find a single word to defend herself.

She stared at the faces of those who used to treat her kindly, only to see nothing but hatred in their eyes. Fear and desperation overwhelmed her suddenly.

Andrew’s cold eyes fixed on Lydia and said, “Lydia, you’ve been toying with us all these years. I’ll make sure you pay for every bit of it.”

Andrew’s voice was so icy and merciless that Lydia instantly realized what her fate would be. At that moment, she suddenly understood that nothing she said would change anything now. She collapsed into the chair, her face white as a sheet.

Lydia looked so pitiful, but not a single person in the room felt any sympathy for her.

Vincent didn’t even bother to look at Lydia again. Instead, he turned to Emily, his usually cold and proud eyes filled with a rare gentleness.

Andrew said, “Emily, I’m sorry. I never should’ve tricked you into coming out back then. That was my fault. I know now you were at St. Gabriel Reform Academy…”

He suddenly faltered, fear and unease flickering in his eyes. He realized there were things he couldn’t say out loud.

Emily knew exactly what Andrew wanted to say, but she didn’t care. She just turned to Andrew and said, “Mr. Bennett, don’t forget our bet.”

Andrew’s heart ached. He said, “Emily, we’re family. I’m sorry. We were all deceived.”

Gale and Emma nodded in agreement. “Yes, we were all deceived. We didn’t mean to treat you that way. It was Lydia’s system messing with our heads. In our hearts, we’ve always seen you as our daughter.

“You are our only daughter. We were wrong before. We’ll have someone arrest Lydia immediately and make sure she never appears before us again. Then she can never deceive us again.”

Vincent quickly added, “Yep, Emily. Lydia deceived us. The things we did before that hurt you weren’t sincere. Lydia has said that we’re the main characters and we’re made for each other. Will you forgive me? Can we start over?”

Seeing them act all sincere and look a bit pathetic, Emily didn’t feel the least bit of sympathy. She was just disgusted. But before she could say a word, Lydia suddenly burst out laughing.
