Chapter 209
Kevin glanced at the minicar, then noticed the person inside. “Are you Stella’s secretary?”
Nola had met Kevin a few times but hadn’t really talked to him. “That’s right, Mr. Carver. With all these cars, you can’t just squeeze through. Even if you’re in a rush, you’ll have to wait.”
“Sorry, I really didn’t expect this. Just tell me how much, and I’ll pay for it,” Kevin said.
She wasn’t meant to get the money? But in this situation, it was obvious to her that Kevin just wanted to hand over some cash and be done with it.
“300 dollars,” Nola replied.
Nola had never needed to fix the car before; it had always been in great shape since she bought it. Today was the first time it got scratched, and she honestly had no idea how much it would cost to repair.
She wondered if she was asking for too much, but then Kevin said, 300 dollars? Is that really enough? Never mind, I’ll just send you 3 thousand. Show me your card number.”
Nola shook her head. “That’s too much. I can’t take that much. My car’s not even worth that.”
“Just take it. I’m really in a rush. If you won’t accept it, I’ll just send it to Stella and have her pass it to you,” Kevin insisted.
“Fine,” Nola said.
Nola was really worried that if Stella found out, he might think she was just trying to scam them for money. She absolutely couldn’t let Stella sée even the slightest flaw in her.
Just like yesterday morning, even though she told Stella not to come, Stella still showed up, and that really touched her.
But whenever Nola thought about how she still couldn’t measure up to Stella, guilt crept in.
Of course, Nola had never told her family about any of this; if they knew, there was no way they’d let her keep working for Stella.
Once the money was transferred, Nola was about to drive off when Kevin knocked on her window.
With a puzzled look, Nola rolled down the window and glanced at him. “Is there something you need, Mr. Carver?”
“Maybe we should exchange numbers,” Kevin suggested.
Nola saw right through him. “Mr. Carver, I really don’t think that’s necessary. Ms. Hayes has already married, so it’s not appropriate for you to get involved with her anymore.”
“I know,” Kevin replied, “but I’m just concerned. If there’s ever something Jordan can’t take care of, I want to help out, like I did before.”
Nola’s brows knitted in concern.
“Don’t worry,” Kevin said. “Jordan and I are basically friends now. I promise I won’t bother Stella anymore. I just want to stay in touch with
you so you can make sure I keep my word.”
“Alright, I’ll send you my contact,” Nola replied.
They swapped social handles.

Chapter 209
Kevin left.
Nola watched his back as he walked away, shaking her head with a helpless sigh.
Honestly, with how irresistible Stella was, it was no wonder Kevin acted like that.
Nola’s car was small, and after what happened, she drove with extra caution, practically holding her breath every time another car got close -she was terrified someone might scratch it again.
She hurried to park in the safest spot she could find, then called Stella to let her know what happened. After dropping her car off at the repair shop, she finally grabbed a cab and headed to the office.
When Stella saw her, she was still a bit worried. “Are you alright? If your car’s totaled, just let it go–I’ll buy you a new one, no problem.”
Stella knew Nola drove that minicar. It wasn’t expensive, and she never really felt it was all that safe.
Honestly, Stella didn’t think the car was bad at all; she actually liked it and thought it looked pretty cute.
“I’m fine. I’ll try to be more careful next time.” Nola reassured her.
“You drive great, but you never know about other drivers. It can get pretty dangerous out there,” Stella said.
“Worst case, I’ll just grab a cab instead. Seriously, Ms. Hayes, you don’t have to worry about me,” Nola replied.
“If you ever need anything, just tell me anytime,” Stella said.
“Got it,” Nola replied.
Nola walked out grinning from ear to ear–her idol Stella had just shown her real concern.
Little did Nola know that the moment she walked out, Stella’s phone rang; it was Kevin calling.
“Stella, I’m sure you’ve heard by now. I hit Nola’s car this morning,” Kevin said.
Stella was stunned and blurted out, “Are you serious? Nola didn’t mention it was you at all; she just said her car got hit. What’s going on,
Kevin?”
Kevin sounded a bit sheepish. “Honestly, ever since I got my license, I barely drive myself. There’s always a driver. But today was just too hectic, so I had to get behind the wheel.
“I was so nervous, kept worrying I’d hit someone, and sure enough, I ended up bumping into your secretary’s car.”
Stella let out a sigh. “Don’t worry about it. Nola didn’t even bring it up, so clearly she’s not bothered. Seriously, it’s no big deal.”
“Yeah, I just figured I should give you a heads up,” Kevin said.
“Alright, go handle your stuff. She already dropped the car off at the shop, and they said it’s nothing major; she can pick it up tonight,” Stella
replied.
“Alright, got it,” Kevin answered.
After hanging up, Stella dove back into her work.
Jordan didn’t call Stella all day. She wanted to give him a ring, but when Mary told her he was still sleeping, she figured she’d just let him rest.
That night, Stella fixed some honey water for Jordan and brought it over. She asked Mary, “Has he woken up yet?”

“He did,” Mary replied, “but then he got a call, packed up, and left without even eating.”
Stella guessed it was probably something work–related, so she didn’t dwell on it.
But after a few days of this, Stella’s nerves were really on edge.
She wasn’t the type to make the first move. Honestly, she was more of the wait–and–see type. If Jordan didn’t reach out, neither would she.
She knew she shouldn’t be like this. She’d already admitted to herself that she liked Jordan, so maybe it was time to put herself out there for
once.
Besides, it was always Jordan who took the initiative before.
So, Stella grabbed her phone and dialed Jordan’s number. Instead, a woman picked up.
Stella thought maybe she’d called the wrong person, but when she checked again just to be sure, it was still Jordan’s name and number staring back at her.
‘Jordan’s never the type to let women get close, so how come a woman was answering his phone?‘ Stella wondered.
“Hello? Hello?” The woman on the other end just kept talking.
Stella took a deep breath, choosing to trust Jordan. “Hi, may I ask where Jordan is?”
“Oh, he’s in the shower. Do you need something?” the woman replied.
Stella’s heart sank, but she kept her cool. “No, it’s nothing. Just let him know someone called when he’s done.”
“Got it,” the woman replied.
Stella hung up, but the messy sounds from the call kept echoing in her mind. She shouldn’t let her imagination run wild.
Jordan had just come back from an intense baseball game, sweat soaking through his clothes. He headed straight for the shower to cool off.
When he stepped out, he was rubbing his hair dry with a towel..
He spotted a woman messing with his phone and instantly snatched it out of her hands. “Who said you could touch my phone?” he snapped.
