“Do you think tonight is the perfect time for this plan? You know that if we cannot meet up even at the last minute, everything will be rinned. Derek asked as he drove the car to the hospital, using his side view to gauge Bryan’s expression.
“I made this plan, so it won’t fail“. Bryan replied with a cynical smile, one that would
send chills down a person’s spine.
“This is the best chance to remind Ethan that when you play with fire, the likelihood of getting burned is very high. Maybe he will learn from this and stop getting on my nerves.” Bryan continued.
“So after that, what’s next?” Derek asked Bryan as they pulled up to the parking lot of the hospital.
“We watch things unfold right before our eyes,”

She rose to her feet and grabbed her coat which hung by the door before finally leaving her office
“Good night, Dr Olivia.” The nurse at the reception said as Olivia passed by She smiled and waved at her.
As she opened the door to her car, she looked up at the floor where VIP patients were kept.
‘There was a light up there,‘ Olivia mused silently, looking up at the building that had no light. She shook her head to clear her thoughts.
“I must have started seeing things now,” Olivia mumbled as she got into her car and drove away.
“Good evening.” Bryan greeted, welding his charming smile,
“Good evening, sir, how may I help you?” The nurse at the reception replied, a swooning smile on her face after seeing the way he smiled at her. The charming smile worked every time with the ladies.
“I suppose you’re newly employed here, so I understand. I’m Doctor Olivia’s fiancé, actually.”
“Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry.” The nurse said with a gasp, surprise, and fear etched on her face.
“That’s fine, I’m particularly in a good mood, so I will just understand that you were ignorant of that fact.”
“Thank you so much, sir.” She muttered, and Bryan nodded his head at her,
“But, Dr Olivia just left a few minutes ago. ” The lady continued with a voice barely above a whisper,
“Now, don’t you think that I would know about my fiancée’s whereabouts, being her fiancé and all?” Bryan cut in with a sharp tone instead. It was better to make her a little scared so she wouldn’t have the time to think properly or process anything,
“I’m sorry, I just thought..”
“It would be best if you keep from thinking, I would not want to have to talk to my fiancée about a particular nurse at the reception who was

rude to me.” He said, and stalked off before the nurse could get any word in
As he took a turn towards Olivia’s office, he came face to face with Derek who had snuck in while he was talking to the nurse.
“Did you get it?” Bryan asked Derek, who raised a black plastic card in reply
“It was insanely easy, I can’t believe such a moron was placed at the reception”
“Come on, let’s go and get this done with, we do not have time to spare.” He uttered as he collected the card from Derek’s hand and began walking to the elevator that led to the VIP floor
“What room did you say he is in?” Bryan asked Derek when they reached the hallways
“Room 260”
“Stay here and keep watching, just in case. Notify me if anyone comes up here.” He instructed, and Derek nodded in reply, standing beside the elevator doors.
Standing in front of the last room in the hall, a smirk appeared on Bryan’s face as he opened the door to Room 260.
Olivia held Noah in one hand and Eva in the other as they walked through the doors of the kids‘ favorite eatery.
“So, I know I have been really busy, but I did tell you guys that I would make it up to you,” Olivia uttered with a smile on her face as she stared at both her kids. She might not have given birth to Eva, but the little sweet girl now had a huge place in her heart. “So guess what?”
“What-?” Both Eva and Noah chorused in unison
“We are having nachos and milkshakes for dinner.”
“Really?” Eva said with wide eyes, more delighted and excited than Noah. She had never been used to a life like this because Shirley never made it up to her no matter how much she missed every event in her life and every time to play with her
“Yes, baby, really. ”
They settled into one of the booths at the back corner as they made their order
“So, Eva, how is school? Anything you want to share with me?” Olivia asked as Eva slurped her chocolate milkshake with a lot of whipped
cream.
“Shannon pulled at my ponytail,” Eva said in a tiny voice, her eyes downcast
“What? Did you tell your teacher?” Olivia asked, her voice filled with alarm.
“There was no need.” Eva continued
“Why?” Olivia asked in confusion.
“Noah cut off her hair,” Eva said with a smile looking at her brother as if he had given her the world.
“He what?!” Olivia exclaimed as she stared at Noah in shock.
“Noah, is that true?” Olivia asked, but Noah remained silent, sipping his vanilla milkshake quietly, his eyes on the table
“Noah, Lasked you if that was true,” Olivia asked again, her voice louder this time and Noah could tell that she was pissed.

“Yes, mommy,” Noah mumbled
“Why would you do that?” Olivia asked, filled with exasperation
“She hurt Eva. Eva is my sister, I have to protect her.” Noah growled protectively.
Olivia could feel her heart swell with the kind of love that Noah had for Eva, She knew that Noah would always have Eva’s back. But at the same time, Olivia could not help but wonder when Noah began to exhibit violent tendencies
She knew she had to tread lightly with this one; she had to make him understand that harming others to protect Eva was wrong, but there were other ways to always protect his sister, especially at a tender age like this.
Olivia took a deep breath, taking a gulp of water from the glass beside her.
“Now, Noah. understand that you wanted to protect Eva and that Shannon was being mean to your sister, but that is not the way to go about it.”
“But..” Noah began sulking
“Did you report Shannon?”
“Well..uhm, no, but..” Noah stuttered, his lip quivering
“Don’t be mad at Noah, please. It was my fault.” Eva said, tears running down her little face
“Two of you come here,” Olivia said with a sigh as she snuggled them close to her, each at her side
“I love you guys so much, and it hurts to see you cry, so please don’t cry, okay. Noah, next time, report to your teacher to handle the matter, okay?” Noah nodded soberly
Olivia kissed his forehead as she wiped away their tears.
Suddenly, there was a beeping sound coming from Olivia’s bag. She took out her pager, and suddenly all the color drained from her face
“VIP room 260. A code blue” Olivia gasped as she stood up in a hurry.

“Noah, Eva, I have to go now, it is an emergency. I promise I’ll be home soon and I’ll see you both.” Olivia uttered, and the kids nodded with sullen faces, not understanding the weight of the emergency at the moment.
“Nanny, take them home,” Olivia ordered as she dashed out of the restaurant, her heart thumping in her chest as she prayed for a miracle
