Chapter 21
Serena POV
The clock on the wall seemed to mock me as the minutes crawled toward the end of office hours. Just thirty more minutes. My body was exhausted from the day’s chaos, but my excitement for the approaching reprieve kept me going. I grabbed the finalized Quarterly Financial Report I went through and hurried toward Alpha Aeson’s office to drop it off.
As I left his office, a sudden, sharp pressure made me stop mid-stride. My eyes darted around desperately, and there it was-the restroom sign. Relief washed over me as I rushed to the door, barely registering which restroom it was. I pushed the door open and darted into one of the stalls, my only focus on not embarrassing myself.
The tension melted as I relieved myself. My breaths evened out, and I felt human again. Straightening my blouse, I stepped out of the stall. But as soon as I did, I froze, my eyes widening at the sight before me.
A tall figure stood near the urinal, his broad shoulders tense. The realization of where I was hit me like a truck. My eyes dropped instinctively, taking in the obvious-the man was using the urinal.
“Oh, God,” I gasped, spinning around in mortification.
The sharp, grumpy voice that followed made my blood run cold. “What the heck?”
I stiffened. That voice. I knew that voice. Slowly, dread pooled in my stomach as it dawned on me who it was. Alpha Hades.
“What was he doing here?” I muttered under my breath, only for the horrifying answer to hit me immediately. No, Serena, what are YOU doing here? My brows furrowed in disbelief at my carelessness.
“Turn around,” he barked, his tone commanding and ice-cold.
Swallowing thickly, I hesitated, praying for the earth to swallow me. When nothing happened, I forced myself to turn around, meeting his piercing stare. His dark eyes were colder than usual, brimming with fury.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” he demanded, his voice razor-sharp.
“I… I…” My words stumbled out, completely failing me. I shook my head, trying to clear the embarrassment clouding my thoughts.
“This is the gents’ restroom,” he snarled, cutting me no slack. “And I’m sure you weren’t blind enough to miss the sign.”
My cheeks burned with humiliation. “I wasn’t-I just… I was pressed, and I rushed in without thinking.”
“Save it,” he snapped, holding up a hand. “I don’t want to hear your excuses.”
“I’m really sorry,” I tried again, my voice wavering, but he interrupted before I could say more.
“Two things, Serena Carlton,” he said, his tone severe. “One, don’t ever bump into me like this again. And two, keep your distance from me.”
His words sliced through me like a blade, and I stood there, unable to move as he brushed past me and left the restroom, slamming the door behind him.
“Oh my world, did you really do that?” Everly’s laughter filled my room, loud and unrelenting. She leaned back on my bed, clutching her stomach while I buried my face in my hands.
“I shouldn’t have told you,” I muttered, groaning in embarrassment. Why did I think she’d take me seriously?
“Oh, come on!” she said, still laughing. “You mean to tell me you barged into his restroom? Serena, that’s gold. And his reaction? I can picture Alpha Hades glaring at you like you just burned his favorite suit.”

i glared at her. “Stop it, Everly. It’s not funny.”
“But it is! I mean…” She sat up and wiped a tear from the corner of her eye. “Did you at least get a glimpse of the ‘driller machine’7”
I froze. “What are you even talking about?”
“His cock!” she nearly yelled, doubling over with laughter again.
“Geez, Everly!” I threw a pillow at her, my cheeks burning. “You’re so vulgar! Stop it.”
“What? It’s a valid question!” she teased, dodging the pillow. “Come on, you saw something, right?”
“I saw nothing!” I hissed, flustered. “And for the love of the goddess, can we move on from this?”
Everly smirked but leaned closer. “Alright, alright. Don’t get your panties in a twist. But seriously, why are you so worked up over Alpha Hades? It’s just your first day.”
I sighed, leaning against my desk. “He’s… intimidating. Out of the three, he’s clearly the hardest to deal with. I already know he’s going to make things difficult for me.”
“What about Alpha Caiden and Aeson? How are they?”
“They’re okay. Caiden’s actually pretty friendly. He even made me the same offer as Aeson.”
Everly’s eyes lit up. “An offer? What kind of offer?”
I hesitated. “A transfer to their packs.”
Her jaw dropped. “Are you serious? Serena, that’s amazing! You’ve always wanted to leave this shitty pack.”
