Chapter 1
“Congratulations Mrs. Olivia Fordham, it’s just as we suspected, you’re 5 weeks pregnant.”

Olivia placed her palm on her mouth, gasping as tears settled at the base of her eyes. This had to be the best news of her life, and she knew that only one person would appreciate the news even better than she was doing.
In her two years of marriage with Ethan, this was the best news she had gotten. Olivia knew how much Ethan Fordham wanted to be a dad. Most times when they were out to events and parties, she would secretly watch him stare at little kids and sometimes play with them.
Now, they were going to have theirs and she was certain that Ethan would make a great father, but there was one thing that was still making her sad even amidst this great news,
He didn’t love her even after their two years of marriage.
Ethan had only married her because of his family, but he had someone he was truly in love with before he had married her. someone that was nowhere near her league.
“Mrs Fordham, are you alright?‘ Dr Anna questioned with a gentle touch snapping Olivia out of her thoughts.
She nodded her head and collected the test results from the doctor’s hand. Hopefully, this news will change everything and bring her marriage back to life. She was going to give Ethan the best news and what he had always wished for.
“I am, doctor, thank you,” Olivia responded and pulled her clothes down. She rose to her feet afterward and picked up her bag,
“I have to head home now. My husband took the week off work so he would be home today. I need to break the good news to him.”
The doctor nodded her head with a warm smile, while Olivia picked up her bag from the bed.
As she walked down the lower step, her phone binged and she immediately paused at the second step. That must have been her husband, Olivia thought as she tucked her hand into her bag to get her phone.
When she opened it, the notification of a message popped on the screen of her phone, but surprisingly, it was from a strange number,
Olivia gasped aloud when she opened the message to see the photos of her husband and a young lady that she could easily recognize even in her sleep.
“What the hell is Shirley doing here?” she muttered to herself as she kept scrolling through the next slides of the pictures with a racing heartbeat. When Olivia got to the last slide, the tears she had been fighting so hard freed itself and rolled down her eyes.
An engagement ring!
Shirley had an engagement ring on her finger and it had to be from her husband else why would these photos be sent to her? To make matters worse, it was just the same as hers. The same Ethan had reluctantly placed on her finger two years ago.
Putting two and two together as she got into her car, she realized something Shirley must have been back months or even years back, but Ethan had kept this away from her and he was secretly dating her too even while they were married.
How disrespectful was that?
Olivia’s grip on her wheels tightened and when she couldn’t hold the pain anymore, she began to hit the wheels so hard that her knuckles turned white. It hurt, but it wasn’t hurting as much as her heart was.
She was certain Shirley didn’t love Ethan but only came back to make her suffer because Ethan had chosen her two years

ago. After sobbing for 10 minutes, she ignited the engine and drove out of the premises.
An hour later, Olivia got home. As she stepped out of her car, her grip on her handbag tightened at every step towards the entrance of the mansion.
She opened the door and stepped into the house, but surprisingly, Ethan was seated on the three–seater couch with his legs. crossed and a file right at the middle of the table.
“Ethan.” She halted and called with a clenched fist, using her second hand to rub the tears on her face dry,
“You’re home, honey. Olivia uttered as she walked closer to him. At least If she had been sent those photos, she expected him to be with his long–time lover, Shirley.
Ethan rose to his feet and picked up the file on the table. With a long deep breath, he outstretched his hand toward her and handed her the file,
“Here,” He started, but continued afterward, “sign the papers and I’ll send them to the lawyers myself.” His voice was as cold as ice.
She arched her brows without her gaze leaving him and collected the file. When Olivia opened it and took out the paper in it, her heart broke and her blood ran cold at the sight of the red words in bold print at the top of the first page.
(DIVORCE AGREEMENT)
Ethan was divorcing her? She questioned herself and raised her gaze to him again,
“Why?” This word came out from her throat as tears welled up in her eyes. So it was true. She knew the reason why he was divorcing her but then she would let him say it to her,
“I’m sorry, Olivia, but even after two years of our marriage, I couldn’t love you. Our marriage was a mistake from the beginning. Two years is enough to give myself a chance, but it’s never meant to be. We’re never meant to be. This marriage only happened because of my father and now, he has no control over me anymore. I think it’s time for us to free ourselves of this bondage we call marriage.”
Olivia sniffled, feeling a stinging pain at his last words,
“Is that all. Ethan?” She questioned with a shaky voice, her mind processing everything he had just said to her right now. Praying deep down that Ethan would not mention Shirley’s name to her, Olivia’s fingers gripped the papers tightly again, almost giving her nails room to pierce a hole through it.
As much as fate hated her, her creator hated her too. If more than anything, she wasn’t ready to leave the marriage even though he hadn’t learned to love her yet.
“Ethan, please don’t do this to me. I’ll be good to you, I’ll do better, just don’t leave me, please.”
It hurt Olivia so much. Knowing that Ethan was only saying this because his first love was back. Why Shirley and not her? Olivia’s mumbled silently to herself,
Because he saw the look of desperation in her eyes, he responded,
“Shirley’s back too, and I want to start a family with her. She’s the love of my life, the only woman I’ve ever loved and will ever love. It should have been Shirley two years ago, but my father chose you instead, Olivia, and now it’s time to make my choice.”
“Then what about me? What am I to you, Ethan.”
Ethan was quiet as he stared at Olivia. The only thought that ran through his mind was that he could never love her no matter how much he tried. He had tried for two years, but it didn’t work.

Chapter 1
Two years ago, his father had deprived him of marrying the woman who had saved his life from a car accident when he was just a kid and that was Shirley, but now that she was back, he would make things right and marry her.
“If my father had not forced our marriage, then I would never have gotten married to you, Olivia. Now that Shurley is back, you mean nothing to me.” He took in a deep breath as he uttered, and continued afterward,
“I really don’t want to drag this out. Name your price for alimony and I’ll have the lawyer get everything you need ready
Was this really about money? He had failed to see the pain her heart was going through right now,
“Shirley doesn’t love you. You know she’s only after you because of your money else tell me why she would return after all these years. Don’t you see she wants you back because you’re now the CEO of Grand Tech?”
He scoffed aloud, and the next expression that appeared on his face was a disgusted look,
“At least she would never stoop so low to force herself on a man who isn’t desperate for her, or who doesn’t love her Ethan’s voice was cold as he responded and his words hit Olivia’s heart like a nail.
“20 million dollars would be sent to you for alimony and the rest of your expenses covered. If you need a house you can stay in, then it would be covered as well.” To Ethan, 20 million dollars was more than enough for any woman to walk away. If he hadn’t known Olivia for two years, he would have believed that money was what she wanted.
Olivia released the tears at the brink of her eyes and it immediately splashed on the piece of paper she was holding. If he was able to cast her aside so easily, then what was her use?
She picked up the pen on the table and drew her signature on the paper just like he wanted.
“You can stay tonight. Shirley will pack in tomorrow.”
“Why didn’t you tell me she was back all this time?”
He suddenly arched his eyebrows when he heard this, wondering how she had gotten that piece of information.
“I guess you didn’t know about the surprise messages. Don’t worry, I’ll be gone tomorrow before she arrives. Say Hi to Shirley for me, Ethan.” She uttered and began to walk upstairs.
This is the right choice.” Olivia repeatedly comforted herself as she slammed the door behind her. But what about the baby? Being reminded about her child made her heart arch even more.
She began to rub her stomach gently as so many thoughts ran through her mind. What if she had told him about the baby. would he change his mind about going back to Shirley? But that would mean he didn’t want her but was willing to accept her because of the baby. Maybe indeed it was time to let go of her unrequited love.
With her palm covering her face, more tears escaped her eyes as she couldn’t stop the pain her heart was feeling.
Ethan was wrong.
She had not married him because of his money or because she was desperate. She had married him because she was in love with ‘
