Louis shook his head, thinking. I only agreed to bring Kala in because she’s the city’s top scorer on the SAT I thought I let her see the world a bit. But she’s still so clueless. Even if she’s pretty and at top scorer, she’s not even good for me
Louis and Andrea kept their eyes on Kaia, just waiting for her to embarrass herself.
But Kaia just walked right in without any trouble. The waiters and the security guards didn’t even try to stop her.
Not only did they not stop her, but they even gave her a respectful bow.
What the hell is going on?‘ Louis muttered, confusion written all over his face.
Louis and Andrea exchanged a look, both of them completely battled.
Let’s go in.” Louis said, his voice tight with frustration.
But when they finally made it inside, Kaia was nowhere to be seen.
‘Did she latch onto someone important or something?” Andrea asked, suspicion clear in her voice.
Louis’s face darkened. “She’s got no shame. Probably traded her dignity just to get a meal here. Whatever, forget about her. She’s a buzzkill. Let’s just find someone and ask which private room Dr. Bennett and her team are in.”
Okay,” Andrea said, clenching her fists. That was the real reason they were there.
Just as Andrea finished speaking, her eyes were immediately drawn to two total heartthrobs walking in from the entrance.
One had that icy, untouchable vibe, while the other oozed a rebellious, bad–boy charm–both of them had off–the–charts good looks.
But it was the cold one who stood out: sharp jawline, brows like distant mountains, ridiculously handsome, and an aura that made him seem like he didn’t belong in this world.
‘God, he’s so handsome! Andrea thought, barely stopping herself from saying it out loud.
Louis caught Andrea staring and followed her gaze. When he saw the two guys, his brows knitted in
irritation.
“Andrea, what are you looking at?” Louis asked, a hint of impatience in his voice.
Andrea snapped out of it and quickly replied, “Louis, don’t you think those two look kind of
familiar?”

Louis turned for a closer look. The guy in the black suit didn’t ring any bells. “You know, you might be onto something. That guy in the blue suit does look familiar. Where have I seen him before…”
‘Wait, he really does look familiar?‘ Andrea thought, a little stunned. Then a thought popped into her head. “Could he be some big shot from the upper circles?”
Louis racked his brain but still couldn’t figure out who the guy was. “They’re already gone. Let’s go ask around and see which private room Dr. Bennett and her team are in.”
“Alright,” Andrea replied sweetly.
Russell, dressed in a sharp blue suit, finally tore his eyes away from Louis and Andrea.
“Tobias, isn’t that Kaia’s ex–fiancé?” Russell asked, his curiosity piqued.
Tobias gave a nonchalant nod. “Yeah, that’s him.”
‘Don’t you have anything you want to say to him? Like, maybe thank him for being so blind and etting you scoop up such a catch?” Russell said, grinning like he was about to hear some juicy gossip.
They were never really involved. Kaia never even cared about him. Why would I waste my time on someone who doesn’t matter?” Tobias replied, his tone completely indifferent.
‘Fair enough,” Russell said, nodding in agreement. “By the way, today’s the anniversary of Dr. Bennett’s research institute. What a coincidence. They’re having dinner here at Splendor Hotel
onight.”
Tobias stopped in his tracks. “How do you know that?”
I teamed up with Dr. Bennett for an all–night gaming session yesterday. She told me herself,“ Russell said, looking smug.
You’ve been gaming with her a lot these days?” Tobias asked, raising an eyebrow.
Yep! What, are you envious or jealous?” Russell shot back with a grin.
Tobias looked at Russell with a serious expression. “If you want to slack off, that’s your business, but Dr. Bennett is a rare treasure in Wustriland. Making her play games with you every day is just distracting her from her research. Aren’t you worried someone higher up might call you in for a
talk?”
Russell’s eyes widened in shock. “No way… seriously?”
Tobias just shot him a look and stayed silent.
The more Russell thought about it, the more freaked out he got. Finally, he raised his voice, trying
to sound braver than he felt.

“Dr. Bennett’s an adult. She can make her own choices! If she wants to play games, how could I stop her? Besides, even if she’s the embodiment of knowledge, she’s got two eyes and one mouth like everyone else! People need to relax, right? I’m just helping her unwind a little. Tobias, why are you walking so fast? Wait for me!”
Andrea whipped her head around, but Tobias and Russell were already out of sight.
“Why’d you stop all of a sudden?” Louis asked, confused.
“I think I just heard them mention Dr. Bennett,” Andrea said, sounding unsure.
“You must’ve misheard. Come on, let’s not worry about them. I just slipped the manager a fat tip, and he told me where Dr. Bennett’s private room is,” Louis said, trying to sound casual.
“Awesome! Let’s get over there quick!” Andrea exclaimed, practically bouncing with excitement.
Soon, they found themselves outside the private room.
Louis stopped a waiter who was just coming out. “Hey, could you go in and let them know that Andrea Bennett from the science club of Morganburg University is here to see Professor Weaver?”
“Uh…” The waiter looked torn.
“Professor Weaver is a big fan of Andrea. At the new nanomaterial launch, he even came looking for her himself. Just go ahead and let him know. If anything goes wrong, we’ll take responsibility,” Louis
assured him.
As he spoke, Louis slipped off his watch and handed it to the waiter.
The waiter eyed the luxury watch in his hand, still looking a bit unsure. He glanced at Andrea. “You really know Professor Weaver?”
“Of course! I swear I’m not lying!” Andrea replied, sounding confident.
The waiter studied Andrea’s face–she didn’t look like a liar. And with that expensive watch in his hand, he figured it was worth a try.
So he headed into the private room. “Professor Weaver, there’s a Miss Andrea Bennett outside who says she knows you. She wants to see you.”
As soon as the words left his mouth, the lively chatter in the room died instantly. Every single pair of eyes snapped to Kaia and Stephen.
Stephen looked downright miserable. “Dr. Bennett, please don’t misunderstand. I have absolutely nothing to do with Andrea. I think she just got the wrong idea when I helped you out at the last press conference.”
Kaia just waved it off. “I know, this has nothing to do with you.”

She knew Andrea’s personality all too well–always so full of herself, thinking she’s better than everyone, always reaching for the stars.
She glanced at the waiter. “Don’t let her in.”
“Yes, understood,” the waiter replied, not missing a beat. It was obvious there was some bad blood between Andrea and Dr. Bennett.
Thinking about it, the waiter was cursing Andrea harshly in his head for nearly getting him screwed
over.
As soon as he stepped out, he shoved the watch back at Louis, pulling a long face. “People inside said you’re not allowed in.”
Andrea and Louis didn’t read too much into what the waiter said. They just figured Dr. Bennett liked to keep things low–key and didn’t want her identity to get out.
“Andrea, let’s go,” Louis said.
“No, we can’t just leave like this,” Andrea replied.
“What do you mean?” Louis asked, puzzled.
“Let’s just wait nearby. When they’re done eating, we can try to catch a glimpse of the legendary Dr Bennett and see what she looks like,” Andrea said determinedly.
