Penny’s father, Donald Sharp, tugged at her arm. “Penny, don’t make a fuss. Let’s home.”

“Dad! You always taught me to own up to my mistakes and make them right. That’s what makes a good person. But why can they be spared from it?” Penny argued.
Donald was stumped for words.
“So, it is okay to abandon your own family for the sake of so–called honor? Just because Kaia was raised in the countryside, she deserves to be cast aside?” As Penny spoke, her gaze swept over Lincoln and the others. Seeing that none of them intended to say anything, she shook her head and let out a mocking laugh.
“Kaia is smart enough to see that this family really is cold and heartless. It’s better that she left.” With that, Penny got into the car and told the driver, “Let’s go find Kaia.”
“Penny!” Donald called after her, hurrying to catch up.
The engagement party between the Bennett family and the Ross family had become a huge joke, and neither of the families was in the mood to keep it going.
Melvin stepped out with his cane to take control of the situation. “Sorry about this. Kaia has brought shame to us and made us a laughingstock. I won’t say more. She’s no longer part of the Bennett family. As for that video… actually, we already knew Andrea and Louis were together, and we fully supported them.
“Even if Louis hadn’t come to break off the engagement, we and the Ross family had already agreed to arrange for Andrea and Louis to be engaged instead.
“Kaia is truly malicious. To get back at Andrea, she secretly followed them, filmed that video, and made it public. She didn’t even care how this would affect Andrea’s future.
“Such a malicious person has no place in the Bennett family, so from now on, please don’t associate us with her anymore.”
The guests spoke up one after another.
A man commented, “Mr. Bennett did the right thing. Someone who brings disgrace to the family really shouldn’t be kept around. If it were us, we’d probably do the same.”
Another said, “It’s a pity, though. She was the top scorer in the city. And she even knew Collin
Crawford.”
“Being the top scorer is impressive, but with Kaia’s personality, she won’t get far in the real world. As for Collin Crawford… I used to wonder how Kaia got to know such an important figure. Now I get it. It turns out she has a sugar daddy,” a woman asserted.

The guy next to her said, “That actually makes sense! No wonder Mr. Crawford showed up at Mr. Bennett’s birthday party. It was probably Kaia’s sugar daddy pulling strings.”
The more the guests gossiped, the darker Ruth’s face grew. No matter how much of a disgrace Kaia was, she was still the one Ruth had given birth to.
‘What a humiliation!‘ Ruth thought bitterly. ‘Kaia is hands down the biggest shame of my entire
life.
She also finally understood that the reason Kaia could dine with the research team was all thanks to the man keeping her.
‘Whatever, I’m done thinking about it,‘ Ruth told herself. ‘Kaia’s not part of the Bennett family anymore. From now on, I’ll just pretend Andrea was the only child I ever had!’
Meanwhile, on the road, Penny caught up with Kaia.
“Kaia, are you okay?” Penny asked, taking Kaia’s hand with genuine concern.
Donald stood off to the side, lighting a cigarette and waiting.
Kaia could tell that Penny really cared about her, and it warmed her heart.
“Don’t worry, I’ve long since gotten used to it,” Kaia said.
“They’re so heartless! Honestly, you’re better off leaving a family like that,” Penny said angrily. “You don’t have anywhere to go right now, do you? Why not come stay at my place? I’m sure my parents would be totally fine with it.”
Hearing that, Kaia glanced at Donald.
“Dad, you’re okay with it, right?” Penny asked, her voice sweet and a little spoiled.
Donald blew out a puff of smoke and strolled over with a smile, saying, “Any friend of Penny’s is welcome in our family. If you want, come home with us. It’s not safe for a girl to be out alone at night. And if you ever want to move out later, I can help you find somewhere to stay.”
Kaia thought to herself, “There’s still real kindness in this world. No matter how cold my family is, I’ll never stop believing in that!
Just as Kaia was about to refuse, a black Maybach pulled up.
“Hub?” Donald stared at the approaching car, his voice tinged with surprise and confusion. “That looks like a global limited edition Maybach.”
Penny’s eyes widened as she looked at her father. “Dad, are you sure? You mean the Maybach we saw in Gasha City?”
Penny didn’t know much about cars, but her dad did. Honestly, most men knew cars the way

Since her dad was always talking about cars at home, she’d picked up a few things.
“It should be,” Donald said.
As soon as he finished speaking, the Maybach stopped in front of Kaia.
The window rolled down halfway, and a deep, rich voice came from inside. “Get in.”
“Okay.” Kaia nodded, then turned to Penny and Donald and said, “Thanks for the offer, but I already have somewhere to stay.”
Penny instinctively looked at the person inside the car. With the interior lights off, she could only make out his outline under the glow of the streetlights.
He looked good–looking and definitely not old.
“Um… Kaia, you and him… you don’t have that kind of relationship, right?” Penny asked awkwardly.
Kaia said with a smile, “So you think I’m a kept woman, someone’s mistress?”
“No, no, that’s not what I meant at all! I just… I’m worried you might be getting played or something,” Penny hurried to explain.
“Don’t worry, it’s not that kind of relationship between us,” Kaia reassured her.
Penny stared at Kaia, searching her face for any sign of a lie. But Kaia looked totally honest, and her intuition told her Kaia wasn’t the type to do such a thing. Andrea, on the other hand, probably was.
“So you really won’t come to our place?” Penny asked.
Kaia replied, “I don’t want to trouble you guys. I really do have somewhere to go.”
Seeing Kaia so insistent, Penny didn’t press her.
Watching the car drive away, Penny couldn’t help but ask, “Dad, who do you think picked Kaia up?”
“No way to tell,” Donald replied, shaking his head and tossing away his cigarette. “Don’t stress about it. If she really considers you a true friend, she’ll let you know someday.”
“Yeah, you always say everyone’s got their secrets. If we’re friends, I shouldn’t push her,” Penny said and decided not to dwell on who Kaia was with anymore.
Meanwhile, Tobias had taken Kaia to a beachfront villa.
“Why did you bring me here?” Kaia asked, her face full of confusion as she stared at the villa in front of her.

Suddenly, colorful lights snapped on in succession, stretching from the villa to the nearby trees, and eventually illuminating the whole coastline.
It was absolutely breathtaking, like something straight out of a dream.
With soothing music playing, Devin pushed out a pink castle–shaped cake to Kaia.
