“Grandpa, I don’t agree!” Tobias said firmly, his lips pressed into a thin line.
“Does your opinion even matter? Can’t you see she’s already made up her mind? If you keep pushing this, aren’t you afraid you’ll just ruin things between you two?” Keaton said.
‘No matter what, I’ll never agree!” Tobias insisted.
Keaton said, “I’m calling the shots here. From today on, you and Kaia are no longer engaged. And since you’re so useless, don’t stay in this house anymore, and you don’t need to come to the company either.
‘Wherever she goes, you’ll follow her. If you run out of money and can’t even feed yourself, just cling to her. She can afford to support you. When she finally decides to accept you, then you can come back.”
Tobias’s eyes lit up, and he turned to look at Devin.
‘Go tell my dad that Grandpa just fired me. He’ll be running the company for the time being,” he said.
After saying that, he looked toward the butler. “Go pack my things. I’m leaving with her.”
Seeing that Tobias was actually serious, Kaia rolled her eyes in exasperation and thought, What’s wrong with these two? So childish. Can’t they just stop messing around?‘
“You want to come with me? Did I ever say you could?” Kaia questioned.
“Doesn’t matter. If you don’t let me in, I’ll just sleep outside your door. My grandpa already kicked me out, and I have nowhere else to go,” Tobias replied, looking like he was determined to get his
way.
“That’s right, Tobias. From now on, you stick with her. I’ve frozen all your cards. If she ignores you, just starve yourself in front of her.” Keaton said slowly.
Kaia let out a long sigh and said, “Alright, I’ll stay for now. But the moment I find a better place, I’m out of here. That’s as much as I’m willing to compromise.”
Keaton and Tobias grinned at each other and left it at that.
Just then, Kaia’s phone buzzed. It was a call from Penny.
“Hello?” Kaia answered.
“Kaia, are you free?” Penny asked.
“What’s up?” Kaia replied.

“I want to ask you out for shopping.” In truth, Penny wanted to take Kaia out to clear her mind. After everything that had happened the previous day, Penny reckoned Kaia must be feeling down.
“I…” Kaia hesitated.
“Don’t tell me you’re busy. Today is my birthday, remember? I think I mentioned it to you yesterday. I gave you a birthday gift, and for my birthday, all I want is for you to spend time with me. No problem, right?” Penny whined.
Since Penny had put it that way, Kaia couldn’t refuse.
‘Okay, where to?” she asked.
Penny said, “Let’s meet at Britera Pedestrian Walk.”
Before long, the two arrived at the place.
‘Did you sleep well last night?” Penny asked cautiously.
‘Yeah. Very well, I slept soundly,” Kaia replied.
She was telling the truth. Lincoln and his family had finally kicked her out and cut her off for good. Honestly, it felt like a huge weight had finally been lifted after all these years.
‘Ugh, you always keep everything to yourself, don’t you?” Penny sighed.
Penny didn’t believe for a second that Kaia was okay. Kaia’s parents had doted on someone else’s child, even kicking her out in front of everyone. On top of that, her fiancé had gotten engaged to that same girl. That was a serious double blow.
“No, I’m not. I actually feel like a huge weight’s been lifted,” Kaia said.
“Alright, enough with the sad stuff. It’s my birthday, so I’m treating you! Just grab anything you like. It’s on me. Come on, let’s hit that mall!” Talking as she walked, Penny dragged Kaia straight to the third floor of the mall.
“Do you know anything about this store?” Penny asked, pointing at a brand called Kaye Bella.
Kaia raised an eyebrow. Of course, she knew. It was a clothing brand under K&B, and Conrad had named it after her.
It was so cheesy. But honestly, she couldn’t be bothered to care.
Seeing Kaia silent, Penny assumed she didn’t know.
“Let me tell you. This is under K&B, the company run by Conrad Dorsey, who is both the CEO and chief designer. Kaye Bella is a global chain and the top dog in the fashion industry. The clothes here are crazy expensive.” Penny explained.

As she spoke, Penny scratched her neck awkwardly, her face turning a little red. “Um…. when I said to buy anything you want, other brands are fine, but here… I can only afford maybe two sets.”
Kaia laughed, genuinely amused by Penny’s honesty.
“Let’s go in. Pick whatever you like, and I’ll get it for you. Even if you end up liking everything, I’m happy to buy it all for you. After all, it’s your birthday today,” Kaia said.
After all, it was her own brand. It wasn’t like it would cost her a dime.
Penny totally thought Kaia was just kidding, but hearing that still made her happy.
Once inside, Kaia picked out a blue–and–purple patchwork dress and asked, “Want to try this one?”
“Wow, Kaia, you have such good taste! This one is so unique. I absolutely love it. Wait. Why are you picking for me? I should be picking for you.” Penny was puzzled.
“Just try it,” Kaia said, not even bothering to explain, as she walked over to Penny with the dress.
Just then, a hand suddenly reached out and grabbed the dress.
“This one is cute. I’ll take it,” the girl declared.
Kaia’s brows knitted as she turned to look.
She recognized the girl, who was probably from the Parsons family in their social circle, but she couldn’t recall her name.
“Rita, you’re going too far! We saw this first,” Penny snapped, shooting her a glare.
“You saw it? Did you pay for it?” Rita sneered, lifting her chin high.
“And did you?” Penny also grabbed the dress, afraid Kaia might get pulled over by Rita if she resisted.
“I’m paying right now,” Rita said, whipping out her card.
Penny fired back, “Funny, I’m paying right now too.”
“Penny, are you seriously trying to mess with me? There are tons of other clothes. Why do you have to fight me over this one?” Rita said.
“Wow! I’ve seen someone unreasonable like you. We clearly came first and had it in our hands, and you say we’re the ones snatching from you?” Penny was exasperated.
The store manager walked over with a polite smile. “Ladies, there’s a similar style over there, perhaps-”
“I want this one!” Rita cut her off.

“Me too!” Sienna raised her voice.
Anyone familiar with Kaye Bella knew that each style only had one piece per size.

As the two women glared at each other, Kaia suddenly yanked the dress free from both of their hands.
“What the hell are you doing?” Rita shouted at Kaia.
“This dress is mine. You’ve got no right to take it,” Kaia said, her face completely expressionless.
“Oh, please! You’re just a country bumpkin kicked out of your home, and you dare to fight me over a dress?” Rita turned to the manager and staff, saying. “You all better keep an eye on her. She definitely can’t afford anything here. I think she came here to steal. You know how expensive these clothes are. If one goes missing, be prepared to hand over a full year’s pay.”
The manager and sales staff instantly looked uneasy after hearing Rita’s words.
Penny’s face turned bright red with anger. “Who are you to say she can’t afford it? Rita, stop looking down on people. Yes, Kaia’s family kicked her out, but she’s this year’s top scorer in Morganburg. Life turns around. With her talent, I believe it won’t be long before she makes a name for herself!”
