Lincoln said, “Yes, I have it, but…”
Issac frowned. “But what? Are you still trying to protect her?”

“Of course not. Why would I protect that brat? Forget it. Here’s the number.” Lincoln pulled out his phone and handed it to Issac. Issac immediately dialed.
At that moment, Kaia was still shopping with Penny when an unfamiliar number popped up on her phone.
“Hello? Who’s this?” she answered.
“Is this Kaia Bennett?” Issac asked.
“Yeah, that’s me. Is there something you need?”
Issac replied, “I’m Rita’s father.”
At those words, Kaia understood instantly.
She said. “So, you’re here to pick a fight? Trying to stand up for your daughter?”
Issac said, “That can wait. First, I want to ask you something. Was it you who meddled and caused K&B to cancel their cooperation with my company?”
Kaia’s brows arched slightly, amusement glinting in her eyes, and she admitted without hesitation, “Yes, it was me.”
Issac hadn’t expected her to be so blunt. For a moment, he actually doubted himself. Was it really her? Or was she deliberately saying that to warn him she wasn’t someone to mess with, so he’d back off from avenging his daughter?
He snapped, “You? You have that kind of pull? My deal with K&B is worth millions of dollars, and my company put together a thorough, detailed proposal for the project. You claim you did it? On what grounds?”
Kaia smiled. “On what grounds? And why should I tell you?”
Issar’s face turned red with anger. “I’ll ask you one last time. Was it you or not?”
“No” Kala’s tone was pure mockery.
Issac was stunned again. “You, you
“What? You want to keep asking? If you do, then sure, I did it Kala smirked, amusement dancing in
her eyes.

“Are you fucking with me?” Issac was about to blow a gasket.

Lincoln and Ruth exchanged a look. This was exactly why they had hesitated to give Issac her number. They were worried Kaia would just drive him mad. Sure enough, this was how it ended.
Issac said, “Fine. Very fine! Looks like we won’t get to the bottom of this today. But you did bully my daughter. What are you going to do about that?”
Kaia said, “Whatever. Not my problem.”
“You…” Before he could finish, the line went dead with a sharp beep.
“That little bitch!” Issac was so furious that he threw his phone against the wall, shattering it into pieces.
The air went dead still. Sensing the tension, Lincoln quickly said, “She’s always been like that. She’s arrogant, lawless, no sense of propriety. Probably spoiled rotten in the countryside. Don’t think it’s just you, Mr. Parsons. My wife and I are often furious at her too.”
He was making it clear that they were not on the same side as Kaia, but rather suffered from her behavior just like Issac.
Issac had been ready to scold the couple, but hearing that, he decided not to. In fact, he even felt a bit of sympathy.
He said, “You really are unlucky to have a daughter like that.”
“Actually, we’re fortunate. We have Andrea, so at least she brings us some pride,” Lincoln said with relief.
“Donald is letting his daughter stay close with Kaia… Just wait, he won’t end well either!” Issac said coldly.
Meanwhile, Penny looked at Kaia with concern.
“Was that the Parsons family giving you trouble?” she asked.
“No big deal. Not worth mentioning,” Kaia shrugged it off.
“Man, too bad my family isn’t as strong as the Parsons family. Otherwise, I’d love to go up against them‘ Penny sighed.
Kaia thought to herself. ‘Not yet. But soon enough, the Sharp family will surpass them
After a full day of shopping, Kaia returned to Moreno Manor. It was already completely dark
outside.
When Tobias saw her come back, the tight, stern lines of his face eased noticeably. He really had
been afraid she wouldn’t return.

He asked, “Hungry? I’ll have the kitchen make dinner right away.”

“No rush, I’ll just go to the bathroom first.” Kaia set her phone down on the coffee table and walked
into the restroom.
As soon as she was out of sight, Russell came bursting in.
He said, “Tobias, did you hear? The Pioneer Retreat project has just been decided. It’s going to be settled by a street race. Whichever faction’s driver wins gets the project.”
“I heard about it not long ago myself,” Tobias said evenly.
“So who are you going to send to race?” Russell asked curiously.
Tobias frowned slightly. “If only we could find Gale.”
Russell frowned. “You mean the legendary racer Gale?”
Tobias nodded. “If we could get her to compete, we’d have the win in the bag.”
“Of course! If my idol shows up, she’s guaranteed to win!” Russell said, excitement creeping into his
tone.
He added, “By the way, I heard your family’s archrival has found Vulture. He’s a real savage! He’s become a household name lately, and he’s even bragged that even if Gale showed up, he’d still beat her.”
Russell scowled as he spoke. “Vulture’s just some newcomer who popped up recently. Sure, he’s undefeated so far, but that’s only because my idol’s been retired for years. If she were still around, she’d shut him up in no time!”
“Enough. No need to get so worked up. Besides, Gale’s been off the radar for two years. She’d be hard to find,” Tobias said, sounding a bit disappointed.
“Yeah…” Russell sighed. “I need a couple of games of League of Legends to cheer myself up. I wonder if Dr. Bennett has time to team up. I’ll send her a message.”
Kaia’s phone chimed from the coffee table.
Russell blinked, looking toward it. “Huh? Kaia’s phone?” He didn’t think much of it.
“She went to the bathroom,” Tobias said, glancing that way.
“Oh. Why hasn’t she replied to me yet?” Russell sent another message. [Dr. Bennett, you there?]
The phone chimed again.
Russell made a curious sound, eyes fixed on the phone. From where he stood, he could only see the screen light up, not the contents.

Russell didn’t dare think too much, giving a little laugh. “Tobias, who do you think’s messaging Kaia? Could it be your romantic rival?”
Tobias could hear the teasing in his tone.
“Want to check?” Russell suggested.
Tobias narrowed his eyes slightly, gaze fixed on Kaia’s phone.
Russell urged, “Don’t just stand there. What if it really is your rival? Besides, she’s in the bathroom. You can take a quick look without her knowing.”
Russell’s words tempted Tobias. After another glance toward the bathroom, he reached for the phone.
