Chapter 12
Chapter 12
There was a knock on the door even before Olivia could try to process what she had just heard Bryan say to her a few seconds ago.
Without saying anything, Bryan walked towards the door and opened it,
n
“Dr Bryan. The director is here to see you.” The young nurse in a white gown and long braided dark hair informed, still standing at the entrance of the room.
“What? Where is she right now?‘
“She’ll be here soon.” The lady responded, and Bryan immediately turned his head back into the room to meet Olivia staring at him,
“Okay, thank you.” He responded and when the lady walked away, he closed the door,
“I heard she’s your grandmother. She must be really worried about you.” Olivia said and Bryan nodded his head,
“She’s more worried about the lady that got hurt I presume. So tell me, have you thought about what you want as compensation?”
Olivia let out a small smile, which faded as soon as she was done concluding with her mind,
“Nothing.” She started, which left him confused,
“I can’t take anything, Mr Bryan. It wasn’t your fault either, so if I’m to be compensated, it should be the culprits. compensating me. You never knew this would happen either.” Olivia concluded even though it hurt her so much to say it. But it was the right thing to say even if it meant her losing her one opportunity to get the job that she desperately wanted,
After all, he was offering her a one–time opportunity to ask for anything and she could have just asked for a job in the biggest hospital in Australia
He simply nodded his head and tucked his hand into the blue pocket of his uniform pants,
“I insist.” He uttered again, but Olivia shook her head in negation,
“No, but thank you. I’m just glad my baby’s fine, that’s all.”
Bryan cleared his throat out loud and nodded his head as he stared at Olivia. She was really an interesting woman, especially with the character she had just displayed right here. After he brought her to the hospital last night, Stella had told him everything and this was even more reason he wanted to help her out, her selflessness,
“You should be discharged before tomorrow, Ms Olivia…” he paused so she could state her last name,
“Rowan.” Olivia answered, and he nodded,
“You’ll be discharged tomorrow, but since you don’t want anything, I’m going to have to make the offer to you myself. It you’re planning on being a single mother, then you’re going to need a means of survival. How about we check your skills afterwards? The hospital could use a few more hands on deck.” Bryan stated, leaving Olivia in shock as she stared at him,
What was happening? This couldn’t be some sort of dream could it? Because right now, Bryan was offering her an opportunity without Olivia having to say a word,
Still trying to process everything she had just heard, Olivia cleared her throat almost in silence and was about to say a word when Bryan picked up the file from the small table close to her bed,
“Stella explained how perfect you are. Now if you don’t mind, I have a meeting with the managing director.”

Chapter 12
As soon as the door closed behind him, Olivia let out a small shriek of joy, trying so hard to control her breathing. If this was a dream, then it had to remain a fucking dream. If anyone had told her it would be this easy to get the job, she would have laughed at their faces especially because all her life, nothing had ever been easy.
“Mommy’s going to make you super proud and happy, my little angel.” Olivia muttered as she lowered her gaze down to her stomach and began to rub her belly. There was no need to hide her precious angel anymore, especially not from the one family who had turned her life around.
SIX YEARS LATER:
“300 Joules.”
The room filled with so much panic, and more tears rolled down Olivia’s eyes as she stared at the patient. He was this close to his death already, and while she tried so hard to keep herself calm, she could help but think about the man’s family desperately waiting and earnestly praying,
“Please fight this.” Olivia muttered with a mask on her nose,
“350 joules…” She instructed even though it was clear that chances of the patient surviving was close to nothing,
“Doctor…”
“Again.” She yelled trying to discard all possible thoughts of this man dying under her watch from her mind,
“Again!”
“He’s back. The patient’s heartbeat started again.”
Letting out a very long deep breath, Olivia finally shut her eyes to release the tears that were gathered at the base of her eyes. She did it! She saved the man’s life, and even more proved everybody standing at the operating room wrong. She had never been one to give up on someone’s life,
“Doctor Stacy, please wrap up here, I need to go” Olivia uttered and averted her gaze to the wall clock,
It was almost 10pm, and her son must be earnestly waiting for her or maybe he could be asleep. She stepped out of the room, and began heading back to her office,
In a hurry, she found her bag, and brought out whatever she was looking for. It was a gift, his favorite kind of book,
As fast as she could be, she stepped out of the ward, and began heading towards the elevator. When the elevator door opened, Olivia took her left turn, and opened the huge two doors leading to the VIP ward section of children,
Room 205. She halted immediately and rasped a gentle knock on the door before twisting the handle to open it,
“Nurse Gina,” Olivia called almost in a whisper, but instead, she heard her son’s voice,
“Mommy,”
She chuckled and rushed towards him, ” You’re still awake, baby? It’s way past your bedtime, Noah.”
“Nurse Gina was reading me a bedtime story Mommy. The little girl was just like me, Mommy.”
Olivia arched her brows as she stared at her son. She had no idea what he was talking about and so she sat down next to him, gently rubbing his little brown hair,
Everything about Noah was a constant reminder of his father, his biological father. His eyes, his nose, and even his hair.. Olivia couldn’t deny that he had taken most of his traits from Ethan, but that didn’t matter after all because as long as she
