Damien gently placed the sleeping Adrian in my arms, then turned to face the entire lobby.
The tenderness from a moment ago vanished, replaced by the absolute authority of the Alpha King.
“Now,” his voice wasn’t loud, but every word carried to every person in the room. “Someone is going to explain to me why my Luna was being treated like a thief.”
The hotel’s Alpha manager stepped out from the crowd, trembling, his forehead slick with cold sweat. “Alpha King, this… this is a misunderstanding. We had no intention of offending the Luna.”
“A misunderstanding?” Damien sneered. “I saw your guards lay hands on my mate.”
“And someone accused her of stealing a sacred artifact and kidnapping a cub. Is that a misunderstanding?”
The other Alphas, sensing the shift in the wind, immediately turned on the hotel staff.
“Outrageous! To be so disrespectful to the Luna!”
“This hotel’s management has serious problems!”
“Alpha King, we can all testify that their behavior was appalling!”
The same werewolves who had been jeering moments ago had completely changed their tune, terrified of being caught in Damien’s wrath.
The captain wiped away sweat, trying desperately to explain. “Alpha King, we truly didn’t know the lady’s identity. She… her clothes…”
“Her clothes?” Damien’s tone grew more dangerous. “So in your eyes, my Luna must be dressed in finery to deserve respect?”
“No, no!” the manager waved his hands frantically. “That’s not what I meant!”
The captain, trembling, also stepped forward. “Alpha King, we were truly negligent. But… the Luna’s scent was very faint. We honestly didn’t detect…”
“You didn’t detect it?” Damien’s gaze was as sharp as a knife. “A trained captain of the guard can’t sense the Luna’s scent?”
“Or did you choose to ignore it?”
The captain’s face went white. I did have a Luna’s scent, but I usually kept it suppressed, and it had been masked by the seawater and sand. But they had decided from the start that I was just a “lowly human” and never bothered to properly sense my aura.
“I’ll give you one last chance,” Damien’s voice was low and full of threat. “Apologize sincerely to my Luna.”
“Otherwise, I will declare that the Midnight Moon Pack is severing all ties with this hotel’s pack. And believe me, that is a consequence you cannot afford.”
The guard and the captain immediately fell to their knees. “Luna! We were wrong! Please forgive our disrespect!”
“We are willing to accept any punishment!”
The other werewolves who had joined in the jeering also knelt and apologized.
“I accept your apology,” I said calmly. “However, according to pack law, falsely accusing the Luna of theft is a serious crime. An apology is not enough.”
The captain’s face grew even paler. “Luna, what punishment do you wish? We will do whatever you say!”
“Follow the laws,” my tone was firm. “Whatever the sentence is, carry it out.”

The guard, desperate, started shifting the blame. “I… I was only repeating what someone else said!”
“Who?” Damien asked coldly.
The guard pointed a trembling finger at Seraphina. “It was her! Miss Seraphina told me that this woman must have stolen the moonstone and that we should handle it severely!”
All eyes snapped to Seraphina.
Her face was chalk–white, but she still tried to defend herself. “Nonsense! When did I ever say such a thing?”
“You did!” the guard insisted. “You said this woman was Alpha Liam’s ex–human girlfriend and that the moonstone in her hand must be stolen!”
Seraphina’s denials grew weaker. “I… I didn’t…”
“Enough.” Liam’s voice cut through the air. He stood up slowly. “Seraphina, stop talking.”
“Liam?” Seraphina stared at him, her eyes wide with disbelief. “What… what are you doing?”
Liam’s gaze lingered on me for a heavy moment, then he turned to face Damien.
“Alpha King, I can testify to what just occurred. It was Seraphina who falsely accused Elena first.”
