“Grayson it hurts!” I bit my lips looking down at him kneeling infront of me. I don’t think I can do this.
His hands are warm, too warm, as they trail up my thighs, pushing the fabric of my dress higher.
“Look at me,” he commands, and I do. His eyes are dark, almost black, and they’re locked on mine like he’s trying to see straight through me. “You can handle it,” he says, his voice rough, but there’s a softness in the way his thumb strokes the edge of the wound.
I want to argue, to pull away, but I can’t. His touch is grounding, even as it sets me on fire.
“I shouldn’t have tried to copy them,” I whisper, my voice trembling.
“You never should’ve,” he murmurs, dabbing the wound with a cloth. His jaw tightens, like he’s holding back something more—anger, frustration, maybe even guilt. ” Now, look at that. It’s a big wound, huh?” he adds with a smirk, trying to lighten the mood.
I glare at him, but he just chuckles, leaning in closer. “You’re lucky it’s just a scratch,” he teases, his breath warm against my skin. “Next time, maybe think twice before jumping into something you’re not ready for.”
I look away, my eyes burning with unshed tears.
“You are so mean!”
“Yeah, I’m mean,” Grayson says with a grin, leaning back on his heels. “But you’re the one who’s dumb enough to think you can pull off those moves. What were you even trying to do? Impress someone?”
I flinch, my face heating up. “I wasn’t trying to impress anyone,” I mutter, fumbling with the hem of my dress.
“Sure, you weren’t,” he drawls, his tone dripping with sarcasm. He tosses the bloodied cloth aside and reaches for the bandage. “I mean, who doesn’t want to look like a total badass, right? Too bad you ended up looking like a clumsy idiot instead.”
“Grayson!” I snap, my voice cracking.
He smirks, wrapping the bandage around my thigh with a little too much force. “Relax, princess. It could’ve been worse. You could’ve broken something. Or, you know, died.”
“Wow, thanks for the comfort,” I huff, glaring at him.
He leans in, his face inches from mine. “Anytime,” he says, his voice low and teasing. “But next time, maybe stick to what you’re good at. Like… I don’t know, staying out of trouble?”
I shove him away, but he just laughs, standing up and offering me a hand.

I think that’s the first time that Grayson has ever been so kind to me. That’s also the exact moment I became sure of what I am feeling for him. And the moment I decided to hate him just so I cannot like him more.
“Baby, please,” I whisper, my voice cracking as I kneel beside Grayson. His face is a mess–blood trickling from his lip, his cheek already swelling. Kade stands a few feet away, chest heaving, his fists still clenched.
“Grayson, wake up,” I beg, my hands trembling as I try to reach for him. The moon goddess, please, if you’re listening, don’t let him die. Not like this.
I don’t even realize I’m saying it out loud until Kade snorts. “Praying won’t help him now.”
But then Grayson groans, his eyes fluttering open. He’s dazed for a moment, then his gaze locks onto Kade. And just like that, he’s on his feet, lunging at him with a roar that sends chills down my spine. The shock on Kade’s face is priceless–he didn’t expect Grayson to get back up so fast.
Grayson’s fist slams into his gut, knocking the air out of him. Kade stumbles back, but Grayson doesn’t let up. A vicious right hook to the jaw sends Kade sprawling, and he doesn’t I get back up.
Grayson stands over him, breathing hard, his fists still clenched. Then he turns to me, and for a moment, the anger in his eyes softens. But it’s gone as quickly as it came.
He stepped over Kade, his boots crunching against the dirt. Kade groaned, trying to push himself up, but Grayson was faster. He slammed his foot down on Kade’s shoulder, pinning him.
“Stay down,” Grayson growled, his voice low and dangerous.
Kade twisted, trying to wriggle free, but Grayson leaned in, pressing harder. The color drained from Kade’s face as he hissed in pain.
“I said *stay down*,” Grayson repeated, his jaw tight. He looked like he was barely holding himself back from doing something worse.
Kade’s eyes flicked to me for a second, almost like he was asking for help. I didn’t move. Couldn’t. My heart was racing.
Grayson straightened up, his shoulders back, and his eyes swept the crowd. Every alpha around seemed frozen, like they’d just witnessed something they couldn’t wrap their heads around.
“Anyone else?” he growled. He cracked his neck, still staring down the pack. “Thought so.”
A few of the alphas shifted uncomfortably. One muttered something under his breath, but Grayson’s glare shut him up fast.
“You got something to say?” Grayson took a step toward the guy, his tone daring him to speak up. “Now’s your
chance.”
The alpha shook his head, taking a step back, Grayson smirked, rolling his shoulders like he was just warming
- up.
“Good,” he said, turning back to the rest of the pack. “Because let’s get something straight. I don’t need prayers, I don’t need help, and I sure as hell don’t need anyone thinking they can challenge me. You want a

No one moved.

Grayson’s smirk widened, and he stepped closer to the crowd, his boots crunching against the dirt.
“I am your alpha,” he declared, his voice low but carrying. No one dared to breathe.
One by one, the alphas knelt. Heads bowed. Eyes down. Grayson stood tall, his gaze sweeping over them, testing their loyalty.
Then his eyes landed on me. I froze, my heart pounding. I could feel the weight of the pack’s stares.
“She’s my luna,” Grayson said, his voice softer now but still firm. He stepped closer, ignoring the whispers that rippled through the crowd.
“Your luna,” he added, his gaze locking onto mine.
I hesitated, my legs trembling. But before I could kneel, Grayson was there. He cupped my face, his touch rough but gentle.
“You don’t kneel to me,” he murmured, his breath warm against my skin.
Then he kissed me–hard, possessive, but there was something else in it too. Something that made tighten.
my chest
When he pulled back, his eyes softened for just a second. “You’re mine,” he said, like it was the simplest truth in the world.
The pack stayed silent, but I could feel the shift in the air. Something had changed.
Grayson turned back to the crowd, his voice firm again. “Any objections?”
No one spoke.
“Good,” he said, a hint of a smirk playing on his lips. “Let’s make one thing clear. I lead. She’s by my side. Got it?”
The pack nodded, but I could see the tension in their eyes.
Grayson didn’t seem to care. He wrapped an arm around my shoulders, pulling me close.
“Let’s go,” he said, his voice quiet but leaving no room for argument.
