Chapter 191
JESSICA

“It’s the Triad, isn’t it?” Trying to get Grayson to talk is useless, so I snuggle closer into his chest, studying his expression. He thinks I haven’t noticed why he’s acting like this. “They got to you?”
He doesn’t reply.
“It’s okay. I know how you’re protecting me from them.”
His head quickly snaps into my direction. The irritation is very evident at some point but he manages to groan and pull me closer until I’m practically pressed against him. “Don’t worry about it.”
“What do they want, Grayson?”
Grayson only peels my embrace from him and turns his back. “I said don’t worry about it, Jess. Go to fucking sleep.”
I’m not an idiot or some weak omega anymore but somehow the way he’s treating me right now makes me feel so much smaller than how he’s been treating me before.
I did not push the conversation anymore hoping he’ll come around but the morning after I woke up empty bed. Grayson must’ve woken up earlier to compensate for his asshole behavior.

I’m excited and jumpy heading straight towards the kitchen but he’s not there. In fact, he’s nowhere to be found.
Is he for real?
I swallow a lump and decide if he’s not going to tell me what’s going on then I’m just going to find it out by myself. So, hours later, I found myself inside Kade’s house. Except Kade is not there.
“You know how to make a good breakfast.”
Bella.
What is she doing here? I don’t mean to eavesdrop or anything but I just cannot help it. Besides, it’s Kade. He’s not exactly a good person. I was just about to reveal myself when a familiar laughter made me freeze on the spot.
Grayson.
“Open your mouth and you’ll find out.”
I’ve always known Grayson is a damn asshole but him sharing a bed with me last night and sharing a breakfast with his whore is definitely not on my checklist.
My eyes trail back to where the voices are coming from and I shatter. There he is, my mate, my alpha leaning over the counter while Bella is on top, laughing.

Chapter 191
You’d think that’s what hurts me the most? No. It was him laughing too and staring at her like it’s been hier all along.
“Don’t look at them.” Someone put his hands to cover my eyes but the image is forever branded into my mind. “What are you doing here, Jess?”
I stare at Kade, tearing up. “Why…Why is Grayson…”
“Okay, calm down.” Kade says, shaking his head and picking my wrists so he can sneak at us outside. I don’t know where he’s taking me but my mind is in chaos and so is my heart. I couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t believe what I had just seen. ” Do not fucking cry on me Jess.”
Kade sneaks me into some lake house and I noticed that some of the alphas are not around. That’s why it’s such a quiet morning. “The others have returned to their respective packs.”
I think he’s trying to get me away as much as possible. Just as I was about to ask him where he’s taking me, we stopped near the lake and he gave me a concerned look.
It’s funny ‘cause Kade never looked at me like that.
“So….it’s just us here?” I should ask him to let me go and not stop me from going back inside his house and kill that bitch but I haven’t.
“Yes and Jack who is out patrolling the woods.”
I frown, trying to stop myself from sobbing. Jack is an alpha but I doubt he can patrol the area all by himself.
Grayson is cheating on me.”

“You don’t know that.”
“Don’t,” I warn, shaking my head. “I know what I saw Kade.”
I could close my eyes and still vividly see their image at the back of my mind. It’s a cycle, repeating itself in ever more painful turns. My vision blurs again as Kade sighs and pulls me down to sit on the docks.
“Do you think he can cheat on you? He marked you as his mate.”
Exactly. When an alpha marks an omega, the power shifts entirely to him. It isn’t a promise of love or a mutual bond. Marking is submission made visible, a signal to everyone that I, Jessica Wilkinson belong to him.

‘Grayson loves you.”
It doesn’t feel like it.
“I’m a hybrid and that’s exactly what this pack needs to establish its dominance and stop the war.”
Kade could tell me I am wrong but he hasn’t. He’s just listening as if he’s trying to let me figure things out,
“The war stopped because he already marked me.”

Chapter 191
Kade’s jaw tightens, and for the first time, I notice the hesitation in his eyes. “Or maybe… it stopped because he wants you to think that.”
“So it’s not over?”
“You should go and talk to him, Jess.”
Annoyingly, Kade will never give me any hints. It looks like he dragged me here to stop me from attacking them earlier. “So you knew all about this?”
But he’s Kade’s friend and he will forever be his friend. Everyone here is his allies and I’m just an omega he brought here to protect. No one ever asked me about what I need. They always answer to him as their alpha.
Kade’s brows knit together and instead of giving me an honest answer he decided to look far ahead where we saw Jack running in our direction.
“She’s a Triad.”
“What?”
Kade stands, alert, as Jack emerges from the shadows, panting. I’m too stunned by Kade’s words to move.
Jack shakes his head, sweat glistening on his brow, the wind tugging at his hair. “Fancy seeing you two here.”
Kade steps slightly in front of me, his stance rigid, protective. “I told you to patrol the woods.”
Jack smirks, wiping sweat from his forehead. “I did. Don’t worry about anything. What are you doing here with Jess?”
The way he says it sends a shiver down my spine. His gaze lingers on me a moment too long, as if he’s trying to figure something out
“Where’s Grayson?”
With his whore of an adviser.
I rolled my eyes and decided–if Grayson’s going to whore out, then I’m going to do it too. Kade and Jack watch me as I boldly strip off my shirt, leaving me in my brassiere, standing at the edge of the lake.
“What? There’s a lake. I want to swim,” I say, smirking at their stunned expressions.
Before they can react, I step in–and the water hits me like a wall. Cold, shocking, icy fingers that steal my breath for a second. I gasp, but laugh through it, splashing back at them.
Kade frowns, stepping closer, protective as always. Jack just shakes his head, smirk returning, clearly entertained by my audacity.
“Is she high?”
Well, I’m pissed but Jack doesn’t know that. “Come on, Jack! Join me.”

Chapter 191
“Jess, don’t”
I laugh, splashing the water toward him, defiant. “Relax! It’s just a swim!”
Jack shakes his head again, exhaling sharply, but I can see that spark of intrigue–or maybe mischief–lighting his gaze.
“Fine,” he mutters, tugging at the hem of his shirt. Within seconds, he peels it off, revealing lean muscles glistening with sweat in the wind.
Ooooh… he’s hot. I’ll give him that.
I can’t resist smirking, letting my eyes roam just a little too openly. “Well, well… looks like someone’s been working out,” I tease, flicking water at him with a sly grin.
Jack chuckles, low and amused. “Grayson is not going to be very happy about that comment.”
I grin wider, tossing my hair back. “Oh? And what’s he going to do about it? Come here and stop me?”
As if I’d spoken a magic word, Grayson appeared. His eyes were already burning with hatred the moment he found mine.
“Enjoying yourself, Jess?”
He’d been enjoying himself too with Bella so what is he fussing about? I ignored him and splashed some water on Jack.
Jack yelped, laughing, while Grayson’s heavy footsteps thudded against the wooden dock.
“What? Don’t like it when I have a little fun?”
