Chapter 203
Chapter 203
JESSICA
“Shh… It’s okay, Jess. I’m going to take care of you.”
I flutter my eyes open, the room tilting around me. “…Where…?” I try to sit up, immediately regretting it “Ugh… my head…”
Memories from last night hits me in pieces and moon goddess, what the fuck did I just do?
“…Fucking Kirill,” I rasp, dragging the back of my hand over my mouth, touching my tender lips. No, it couldn’t be right? That didn’t happen… did it?
Knock.Knock.
The door swings open and Kirill is there, leaning against the doorframe. Amber eyes catching the first light like molten gold.
“Do I have to fetch you for every training?”
Panic claws at my chest. I lurch upright, hands fumble at the sheets–and horror blooms as I realize the weakness of my state. I am bare, vulnerable, naked infront of him.
“…I… I’m sorry!” I gasp, eyes averted, burning.
His gaze does not falter. It scorches, probing, ancient, indifferent.
“Get dressed. Now. We train at dawn.”
Then he is gone.
Stupid, Jessica.
Thirty minutes later, I arrived at The Cradles with everyone warming up with their partners. At first, everyone’s gaze flicked on me until I managed to find Kirill.
Standing across the field, every inch of him exuding danger, command, heat. Fingers twitching in some idle, cruel signal, his gaze locks on mine.
“I’m sorry I was late and I’m….sorry for last night.”
Kirill doesn’t so much as blink at my apology. He lifts a single hand, and calls out someone from the crowd.
“You’re partnering with Cid.” I look up, shock burning in my veins, eyes wide. My throat opens, a protest dying before it can form. “But…he wants to kill me.”
“Then don’t let him. Cid!”
Is he fucking kidding with me?

Before I can protest, he’s already walking on the side, watching as Cid makes his way on me.
He’s three times larger than I was and I bet he won’t give me so much mercy.
“Are you scared?” Cid’s shadow fell over me, larger than the sun rising behind him.

“Of you?” My gaze fell upon Kirill and he’s showing nothing. “Why would I? So how do you want me, Cid?”
“Probably under me.”
The words had barely left his mouth when he lunged. Shock burned hotter than fear. My mind spun, scattering, but I managed to roll through his momentum and avoid his punch.
“You cheating—“I come up, and I drive my knee up under his jaw. “Bastard!”
He snarls, surprise and fury in the same breath. For a moment he stumbles.
“You’re going to pay for that.” Cid spits, before he drops to all fours before my eyes.
Moon goddess.
How does he shift so effortlessly, as if flesh and bone bend to his will?
Shock blooms like wildfire, scorching veins, burning thought to ash. My breath shatters in my chest. He is no longer a man, no longer merely a beast.
A snarl tears from his throat, jagged as broken glass, and I’m sprinting for my damn life. Weapons clatter underfoot as I stumble, hands clawing at stone and dirt, desperate to keep the nightmare at bay.
That beast–Cid, hurls forward with terrifying grace.
“Shift! On your wolf form, Jessica!” Kirill’s voice is not really helping me right now. “He’s going to swallow you whole!”
“Very helpful!” I shout, scrambling up to another wall.
I need to shift. I have to shift.. Wake. Wake, you bastard, I roar in my mind. Now!
Cid snarls beneath me, fur black as midnight, eyes molten with hunger.
My wolf flickers at the edges of consciousness, a faint ember against the wind, but she refuses to rise.
Cid clamps onto my pants, catching the fabric in a brutal bite. I shriek as gravity drags me downward. I am sure I’m going to fall but the pain never lands.
Kirill.
His amber eyes catch mine, but he quickly turns his fury toward Cid.
“Shift. Now.”

Chapter 203
I stare at him, disbelief and terror knotting my gut. Does he truly think he can command Cid to shifte
Slowly, impossibly, as if Kirill’s will is a god’s hand pressing down on him, Cid’s frame ripples, contorts, and folds upon itself.
He… he just commanded a goddamn wolf to obey.
“You cheated, Cid.”
Cid glances at me, rage still smoldering in his eyes, jaw flexing, “I’m just disciplining her, Alpha,” he spits, voice rough with humiliation.
Me?
“She’s mine to discipline.” Kirill took a deep breath. “Do you understand that?”
Cid’s shoulders quake. For a heartbeat, I think he’ll defy him. Then his head dips, low and stiff. “Yes,” he grinds out.
Moon Goddess… what is he?
My gaze on Kirill never falters even when Cid left with a sour face.
“Can you walk?”
My knees tremble, my palms sting from the stone. Still, I nod once, refusing to look away from him.
Amber eyes narrow. “Then stand. Follow me in my office.”
The hall seems longer than it should, stone archways rising like ribs, the light cold and thin. His office door looms at the end, carved with old runes that pulse faintly as his hand brushes the wood. He pushes it open without a glance back.
“Inside.”
I obey, still not over with what I just witnessed.
“Look at me.”
I do. My heart hammers like a trapped bird.
“I told you to shift,” he says, voice low, almost a growl. “You did not.”
“I–I tried-”
“You failed.” His gaze flares, molten, unreadable. “You can’t control your wolf,” he says, each word a blade drawn across my chest.
“She’s… she’s dormant. She won’t come. You don’t understand.”
“I understand exactly. You’re hiding from her. You’re afraid of what you’ll become.”

“I’m not afraid,” I hiss, but the protest feels thin, brittle.
“You are,” he says, almost a growl. “I can taste it on you.”
His eyes drop–slowly to my neck, looking at the spot where Grayson has marked me. “One day you’ll fall, and your wolf won’t come, and nothing will save you. Not even me.”
My breath catches. My body sways toward him without permission. “Then… then teach me,” I breathe. “You throw me to wolves–literally. You push, you break, but you don’t teach. I’m here because you’re supposed to help me control her.” My voice falters, softer. “Help me… control me.”
“Control isn’t given, little wolf. It’s taken.”
My stomach coils, and I shiver, though the fire inside me demands more. “Then take me,” I whisper. “Pull her out. Make me shift. Isn’t that why I am here? To train me? To teach me?”
He steps closer, shadows clinging to him like loyal wolves, his presence eclipsing everything. “Do you even know what you’re asking, little fire?”
Fingers hook beneath my chin, Kirill tilts my chin up, locking my gaze. “When I do this,” he whispers, “there is no turning back. Your wolf will rise. She will be merciless… and so will you.”
My pulse roars. “Then do it,” I breathe, equal parts dare and plead. “Break me open.”
His fingers press lightly, almost torturously, over the mark Grayson left. “He should’ve known better than to mark you.”
