Chapter 205
…you won’t even make it.”
Make it? Make it to what, exactly?

I had a mate. Grayson. And Kirill… well, he could keep his arrogance. I had no intention of giving him the satisfaction of worrying me.
“Fuck!” I throw another punch on the bag and chase for my breath.
Thwack! Thwack! Thwack!
I stagger back, hands trembling, knuckles raw, and the bag sways like it’s mocking me. And maybe it is. Maybe everything about this place mocks me.
I’m a prisoner of the Triad and I’m a fool believing that they are here to be kind to me.
Sweat drips down my spine, stinging my eyes, but I don’t stop.
“That punching bag is going to have a hole if you keep punishing it.”
Cid.
“What do you want?”
He steps out of the shadow, the dim light catching the angles of his face. Calm. Smirking.
“Kirill wants me to let you know your supplies are delivered in your room.”
“Okay.”
“Okay?” Cid’s tone lifts, sharp, teasing. His smirk deepens. “Just… okay? You’re not going to fight me on this? Complain? Curse him out? Something?”
I glare at him, chest heaving, knuckles still raw. “I said okay. That’s enough. Supplies delivered. Big deal.”
“Are you hurt because of how he insulted you?”
My laugh comes out short. “Hurt? By him?” I swipe the back of my wrist across my mouth. “Please. I’m loyal to Grayson.”
“Hmm… About that. If you want, you can always ask to see him after your training.”
My eyes widened. “I can?”
“In theory. You’re not a prisoner, right?” His tone turns almost mocking at the last word. “You just… have to
survive first.”
“I’m well trained.”

“Physically, yes. Mentally and controlling your wolf is the problem.”

I roll my eyes and drop down to the floor, stretching out my sore arms. “Says the beast who almost mauled me earlier.”
His laugh is low, dangerous. “That was me being gentle.”
I snort. “If that’s gentle, I’d hate to see what you call rough.”
Cid crouches down just enough to meet my eyes. “You really pissed the alpha, do you know that?”
It’s not good for me.
“What does he want now?”
“I’ll personally train you. How well do you know your wolf, Jess?”
“I… I know her,” I say cautiously. “But she obeys Grayson because of the bond.”
“Then that’s your first mistake.”
I blink. “What?”
“She isn’t his wolf. She’s yours. If she only listens because of some mark, then she’s not your wolf. Did you let him do that?”
“I’m not sure.”
My wolf hisses faintly inside of me and I know Grayson was able to tame her.
“Get up.” Cid offers me his hand. “We’re going to visit someone.”
******
When Cid said we were going to visit someone for answers, he didn’t mention that “someone” would be this.
A woman stands at the center of a dimly lit room, tall and enticing.
“Sorry,” I blurt, realizing I’ve been staring too long. “You’re so beautiful. I mean—”
She chuckles. “You’re not the first to say so,” she murmurs, “Cid reminds me everyday, right honey?”
Oooooh.
“We’re not in a relationship.” Cid snorts.
“Why?”
My question made him roll his eyes as he kept on sulking on the corner of this place.
“Alright, lay on the bed for me, okay?”

My body goes rigid. “… Why?”

“Because you came here for answers,” she says softly, stepping closer. “So I’m going to examine your wolf
I glance at Cid, then at her. “I cannot shift so I don’t know how you will do that.”
“Oh, little one… I don’t need you to shift. I need you to submit for a heartbeat.”
“I’m not-”
“You’re not submitting to me,” she interrupts smoothly. “you’re submitting to her. The one clawing at the inside of your chest right now.” She tilts her head, the glint in her gaze feral. “You feel her, don’t you? She’s awake, even if she’s caged.”
Heat floods my veins, my palms slick against my thighs. “I… I feel her,” I whisper.
“Good.” She gestures to the bed. “Then lie down. Close your eyes. Breathe. Let me in.”
I shoot a glance at Cid. He’s standing rigid, arms folded across his chest, jaw clenched. “She’s not ready for this,” he growls.
“She’ll break before she bends,” she replies without looking at him. “That’s the point.”
A flicker of anger rises in me, hot and sharp. “I won’t break,” I hiss.
“Prove it.”
“Lie down, Jessica.”
My heart pounds and one nod from Cid made me climb onto the bed, the linen cool against my overheated skin. “Fine,” I murmur, my fists clenching at my sides. “I’m going to punch you for this Cid.”
She places her hands over my heart, her fingers warm and oddly electric. “Breathe in,” she whispers. “And when you exhale… let go.”
I inhale, shaking, eyes squeezed shut.
“Let go, Jess. Let her go. Make her control you.”
“I…” My breath shudders. “I can’t.”
“You can,” she murmurs, her thumbs circling just over my heartbeat. “You’re not afraid of Kirill. Don’t be afraid of her.”
Inside me, the wolf’s growl rises.
“Jess,” her voice sharpens, commanding now. “Stop fighting her. Stop caging her. Let her touch you.”
A flash behind my eyelids–claws, teeth, a pale moon hanging heavy in a blood–colored sky. My heart stumbles, then races.

Chapter 205
“1…” The sound rips out of me more growl than word. “She’s–she’s too much”
“Good,” the woman breathes, and her hands press harder. “More. Give me more.
She’s…breathtaking.

First, there’s darkness filling my mind until I see her–floating under a blood–red sky, hair streaming like liquid shadows. Her eyes burn amber, pupils slit and feral, and I realize with a jolt that this… this is my wolf.
Her.
“Hello, Jessica.”
Her hands reach toward me, fingertips brushing my face.
“You’re so brave.”
“W–Who are you?”
“I am you, Jess. My name is Leticia. I’m your wolf and I’m very happy to finally meet you.”
“You’re… my wolf?”
“Yes.” Her eyes flash gold, brighter now, burning. “Leticia. The part of you that refuses to bow. The strength you locked away for Grayson. The rage you buried for Kirill. I am yours, Jess. Not theirs.”
“What do you want from me?” I whisper.
Her lips curl in a feral smile. “To stop hiding. To let me out. To become who we were always meant to be.”
For the first time, I feel it—her strength pouring into me. Leticia leans closer, forehead touching mine. “Together, we’re unstoppable. But only if you let me.”
“We are?”
Leticia nodded. “You have mistakes to correct, Jessica. You committed a sin to your own pack and left a train of bodies behind.”
“W–What?”
says, voice
Leticia’s eyes flash silver, her form blurring at the edges. “This is not only me speaking,” she echoing like thunder over a mountain. “The Moon Goddess watches. And she has a message for you.”
I can’t move. My heart hammers against my ribs.
―
“Do not resist me,” the voice says not Leticia’s now, but something celestial, shimmering with power. “And do not resist him.”
“Him?” My pulse spikes. “Who-?”
“You are meant for one wolf, Jessica,” the Moon Goddess intones, each word a blade sinking into my skin.
