Chapter 88
JESSICA
“Grayson?”
“Grayson?”
Where is he?
I check the front door Unlocked. Slightly open. A gust of early morning air rushes in and my grip on the blanket tightens.
Did he… go back to the pack village?
I drag the blanket around me tighter, clumsily stepping back inside. My body still hurts from last night. A blush creeps up my cheeks, stupid and stubborn. We really… outdid it.
He was feral last night. Brutal. Gentle. All of it. I didn’t know you could be worshipped and devoured in the same breath. I didn’t know someone could touch you like they’re starving and still somehow make you feel safe.
I press my fingers to my throat and feel the faintest trace of a bite. Not a full mark. But close. So close it makes me dizzy.
I wander toward the kitchen, dragging the blanket along the floor behind me. It catches on the corner of a chair and nearly yanks me off my feet.
“Grayson?” I call again, quieter this time.
Still no answer.
The silence is starting to get… heavy.
And that’s when the front door slams open.
I jolt.
A cold burst of wind blows in–and then Riot steps inside with some bruises on his face.
I quickly went and tried to touch it but he rejected me. “W–What happened?”
Riot drags a breath in through his nose, jaw clenched so tight I hear it crack. “Don’t do that.”
“Do what?”
“Look at me like I’m the one who needs help.” He spits the words like venom, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. “You slept with Grayson?”
“I…” My throat camps shut. I clutch the blanket tighter around my body. It’s still warm where Grayson’s skin touched mine last night.
“You what?” Riot steps closer, limping slightly. His boots drag over the floor like it hurts to walk but he doesn’t care. “Didn’t mean to? Didn’t plan it? Or did you forget we were mates while he was fucking you into the goddamn walls?”
I reel back like he punched me. My heel knocks against the edge of the sofa. The blanket slips, baring one shoulder, and I yank it back up like that’ll somehow erase everything.
“I didn’t forget,” I whisper. “It’s not like that.”
He scoffs. “Oh, it’s exactly like that.”

Chapter 88
I shake my head. “You don’t understand-”
“No, Jess. You don’t understand.” Riot’s voice cracks. His hands tremble, fingers curling into fists at his sides. “You think I didn’t feel it? Every time he touched you–I felt it. It’s like someone dragging claws through my ribcage while I just stand there and take it.”
My stomach knots. My skin burns. I glance at his mouth–split, swollen, red–and wonder if it was Grayson who did that.
“I didn’t ask for the bond,” I say, voice low. “You know I didn’t.”
“Yeah?” His voice turns sharp. Cold. You just asked for him, didn’t you?”
“Stop it,” I choke out.
But he’s not done. He’s barely started.
Riot was a dangerous man but he was never rough with me. My breath catches. His fingers are cold–calloused, angry–as they grip my chin and force my
gaze up.
“Look at me, Jess.”
I don’t want to. I can’t. Because if I look at him, really look, I’ll see everything I ruined.
His jaw is tight. One side of his mouth is cracked and crusted with dried blood. I don’t know if it was Grayson’s fist or his own damn pride that did it, but it hurts to look at him like this.
“You didn’t even fucking hesitate,” he snarls, voice low but trembling. “Did you?”
“Riot-”
“Don’t.” His grip tightens. “I trusted you,” he mutters. “You were mine.”
“I’m not,” I whisper.
He shoves me back. Not hard. But fast. I hit the edge of the counter with a gasp, blanket slipping, clutching it tighter around me. His body is already there
-close, too close–and I see it in his eyes.
He’s breaking.
And this is how he does it. With pain. With possession.
“You smell like him,” Riot snarls. “Fucking stinks in here.”
“Get out,” I snap, but my voice wavers. “Just–go. You don’t get to do this.”
“Oh, I don’t?” His hands slam down on either side of me. I flinch. His nose brushes the shell of my ear. “You let him ruin you, Jess. And now you think you’re safe from me?”
I shove him, arms braced, panic flooding my limbs. But Riot trained me. He knows me. He taught me how to break an enemy’s stance, how to twist out of a chokehold–but he also taught me how to submit.
And my body remembers that too.
He catches my wrists like it’s nothing. Spins me, back pressed hard against the counter. One hand pins both arms above my head, the other grips my thigh through the blanket, forcing it aside, lifting.
“No–Riot–stop-”
I kick at him, desperate. My heel lands hard against his shin and he snarls—not in pain, but in warning.

Chapter 88
“Don’t,” he growls. “Don’t make me hurt you.”
His thigh wedges between mine, forcing them open. My blanket slips. I’m so terrified of what he’ll do to me.
“W–What are you going to do?” I whispered, fear spreading through my nerves. Even if my heart’s pounding. Even if my body’s frozen and all I want to do is run. “Whatever this is–you don’t want it,” I force out. “And I sure as hell don’t.”
But Riot is not listening
I whimper as I feel his breath hot against my neck, his fingers tangling in my hair, yanking my head back.
“I’ll fuck you hard too, Jess,” he hisses, lips brushing against my ear. “First slow, then so hard you’ll forget everyone who came before me.”
His hand snakes under my shirt, cold fingers tracing circles on my stomach. “Right here,” he says, pressing down. “This is where I’ll leave my mark. Where I’ll plant my seed so deep you’ll never be rid of me.”
I try to pull away, but his grip tightens painfully.
“Do you know what happens to she wolves who run from their alphas?” His teeth graze my earlobe, sharp enough to remind me what he is. What he becomes under the full moon. “They get caught. They get claimed.”
