If not for all the lies and betrayals between me and Zayn, maybe we too could have grown old together. Unfortunately, life did
not grant us those kinds of ‘what ifs‘.
The couple noticed I was alone and struck up a conversation. When they learned I planned to raise my child on my own, they
sighed with sympathy.
“My dear, you’ve had such a hard time,” said the old woman. “But you’re brave, and you’re strong.”
“Thank you,” I replied with a smile. “I’ll take good care of my baby.”
“Come, let’s make a wish under the Christmas tree. They say if you wish with all your heart, it’ll
come true.”
I followed them to the town square, where a towering Christmas tree stood. It was glittering with lights and ornaments. I closed my eyes, pressed my palms together, and made a heartfelt wish.
“I hope my babies are born healthy and safe. I hope I can give them a happy future.”
When I finished, I turned to leave, only to spot someone.
It was Zayn
I was stunned for a moment. The last person I expected to see here was him. My first instinct was to walk away, but he
rushed after me
“Yvonne, don’t go“” Zayn called out.
I stopped, turned around, and met his eyes with a cold stare “What are you doing here?”
His eyes were pleading as he looked at me. “Yvonne, I was wrong. Please forgive me. I never loved Whitney. I had her child aborted and kicked her out of the Levine family. You’re the only one in my heart. Please, come back to me.”
I gave a faint smile when I heard that “Zayn, do you really think the rift between us is just because of Whitney? The pain you caused me isn’t something a simple apology can erase. And besides, I don’t have feelings for you anymore. Do not interfere with my life again ”
Then, I pulled my hand free and turned to leave.
He refused to give up, however. He grabbed my hand and pleaded desperately, “Yvonne, I was wrong. Please, just give me one more chance I promise I’ll treat you well from now on, I’ll eat the child well ”
1 looked at hun with toy detachment, feeling nothing but compuness inside
