“It’s okay. I’m used to it.” Kaia shrugged and said with a nonchalant smile.

Willa lovingly smoothed Kaia’s hair. “If we hadn’t come to Morganburg this time, we wouldn’t have known this happened.”
“Andrea is just after the Bennett family’s wealth and glory!” The more Scott thought about it, the angrier he became. Then, he suddenly looked at Willa and Solomon. “Mom, Dad, you didn’t express your opinion just now. You don’t really believe what Andrea said, do you?”
A look of pain appeared on Willa’s face. “I watched you and Kaia grow up. How could I not understand you? But just now, in front of Mr. Bennett and Mrs. Bennett, if I had exposed Andrea, how would she have handled herself?”
“Your mom is right. Since Andrea is after wealth, and Mr. Bennett and Mrs. Bennett treasure and dote on her so much, we might as well fulfill her wishes. But…” Solomon changed the subject, frowning and looking at Kaia with guilt. “But it’s unfair to Kaia. Kaia, we are sorry. We…”
In his heart, Scott felt that his parents were being a bit biased towards Andrea, but he could also understand their difficulties.
Kaia also understood and said with a smile

In his heart, Scott felt that his parents were being a bit biased towards Andrea, but he could also understand their difficulties.
Kaia also understood and said with a smile, “Andrea is your own flesh and blood. Even if she’s completely unbearable, she still has your blood in her. What you’re doing is what real parents would do.”
How many people in this world would deliberately harm their own interests? Kaia also stood up for people she cared about, helping family instead of strangers under certain principles.
“As for Mr. Bennet and Mrs. Bennet…they are odd.” There was no grievance in Kaia’s words, only the calmness of standing from an outsider’s perspective.
The more sensible Kaia was, the more Willa and Solomon felt sorry for her.
Kaia asked, “By the way, Mom, Dad, have you found a place to live? What are your plans next?”
“We plan to go home in a couple of days. Scott has been admitted to Morganburg University. He won’t be going back.” Willa said.
Scott said, “I want to stay in Morganburg, find a part–time job, and earn some extra money to ease the family’s burden.”
Kaja took out her phone. “I’ll transfer some money to you.”
Solomon’s expression changed. “Kaia, I’ve told you before, the money you earn is your own. We haven’t reached the point where we need money from our daughter. Your mom and I are capable. Although we don’t earn much from farming and raising pigs, it’s enough for our daily expenses.”
Kaia had offered money to her family before, but Solomon and Willa insisted on not taking it.
“That’s right, Kaia. We’re not vampires. It’s not easy for you to earn money, and Mom and Dad aren’t old yet. Besides, I’m a man, and I need to earn money with my own hands” Scout also refused.

“So, do you have any plans right now? You called me back in such a rush. Did something happen here again?” Asher asked.
“As usual, you’re right,” Kellan admitted.
Kellan paused, then sighed, “Kyle’s become a problem we need to deal with. Got any good ideas on how to handle him?”
“Kellan, you want me to figure out how to deal with your nephew? Isn’t that asking a bit much?” Asher’s eyes went wide in disbelief as he said. “You really expect me to do everything, huh? Nope, not happening. Count
me out.”
Kellan looked up at Asher, who was shaking his head crazily, and his eyes grew even colder. “You don’t get a say in this,” he said, his tone leaving no room for argument.
“How could you-” Asher stammered, shooting to his feet, his face full of misery. “You’re totally throwing me under the bus. I actually thought you missed me, and that’s why you dragged me back here.”
Asher let out a long, regretful sigh, wishing he’d never come back, then shot Kellan a look full of frustration and helplessness. He was this close to cussing Kellan out.
Kellan, meanwhile, looked completely unfazed as he met Asher’s gaze. In the end, Asher ended up losing this round, as always.
“Whatever, have it your way. Just don’t pile on any more trouble for me, alright?” Asher grumbled.
Asher picked at his food, sulking the whole time, brooding over the sudden trouble that had landed in his lap. He had no idea that, right at that moment, a steady gaze was locked onto him.
“Oops, wrong room, sorry,” someone blurted out. The door suddenly swung open, and an unfamiliar face popped in. His eyes swept around the room, and he hurried to back out.
But before he could slip away, he suddenly froze, eyes wide with fear as someone appeared right in front of him. “What do you-” the man stammered, his voice trembling.
“Well, since you’re already here, why not tell us who sent you?” Asher drawled, a playful glint in his eyes.
He reached out, grabbed the guy, and yanked him into the room, shutting the door behind them with a practiced flick.
The guy’s eyes darted around the room in panic, and he couldn’t stop begging for mercy. “Hey, everyone, I swear I didn’t mean to walk in here by mistake. Aren’t you guys being a little harsh?” he pleaded.
“This place is pretty out of the way. Unless someone brought you here on purpose, I’d really like to know how you managed to find it. You don’t actually think I’m that gullible, do you?” Asher shot back.
As Asher finished speaking, the man looked up in terror, coming face–to–face with a cold, unfeeling stare.
Those sharp, bright eyes seemed to see right through him, like they could lay bare every bit of darkness hiding in his heart.

:
Kaia opened her mouth. She wanted to tell them that making money was really easy for her.
Not to mention, she had just earned three billion dollars from Gideon.

“Kaia, put your phone away and don’t mention giving us money again. When we’re old and can’t move, we won’t refuse if you give us some money to show your filial piety,” Solomon continued with a straight face.
“Okay.” Since they both said so, Kaia had to give up.
“Let me arrange a place for you to stay. Don’t refuse this. Another refusal means you don’t treat me as your daughter.” Kaia pouted and said with a coquettish tone.
They nodded with a smile. “Okay, okay.”
Soon, Kaia arranged accommodation for them. In case they said she was wasting money, she did not book the best hotel in Morganburg, but found a medium one.
Even so, they were lectured by Solomon and Willa.
Kaia called Scott out, “What kind of part–time job are you planning to find?”
Scott shrugged. “I don’t have much work experience, so it is unlikely I can enter a big company. I chose a few small companies on the recruitment website, and I will go to the interview tomorrow to try.”
“Which companies did you look at? Let me see.” Kaia held out her hand.
Scott handed the phone to Kaia. “Here, just these.”
Kaia frowned after a glance. “These companies have no prospects. If you go in, you’ll only be pouring coffee, running errands, printing documents, and cleaning.”
“I know! But I have no other choice! Not to mention I have no work experience, I’m looking for a part–time job. Big companies would never want someone like me.” Scott looked helpless.
Kaia thought for a moment and said, “Do you want to join K&B?”
“What? K&B? Are you talking about the company of the famous designer Conrad Dorsey?” Scott’s eyes widened.
“Yes, I remember you used to like designing, didn’t you? When you had nothing to do, you would draw all kinds of clothes on the little figures in history books.”
Kaja’s words made Scott feel very shy.
He said with embarrassment, “Kaia, that was all when I was a kid. Can you not mention it?”
Kaia covered her mouth and smiled. “So, do you want to join or not?”
“Of course, I want to join, but the problem is that K&B is a top company in Morganburg. How could they want a student like me who has no experience?” Scott said to himself.

At that moment, the guy totally panicked, shaking his head desperately. “I–I really didn’t mean to. I didn’t think you’d make such a big deal out of it,” he stammered.
“So, which one of those old foxes from the Carter family is your boss?” As he spoke, Kellan walked right up to
the man.
Kellan pressed the tip of his shoe under the man’s chin, arched an eyebrow, looking rather pleased with himself.
“Oh, just look at you. You’re so pathetic. Shaking like a leaf and still not willing to sell out your master? Now that’s a loyal lackey,” Kellan sneered, his tone full of mockery.
“Don’t go overboard, Kellan,” the man finally snapped, glaring as he tried to get up.
But before he could even straighten up, someone behind him landed a solid kick, slamming him down so hard he got up close and personal with the floor.
Asher shook his head in exasperation. “What a hassle. I was hoping I could drag this out a bit longer, but now I’ve got to pick up after you and deal with this mess.”
As he spoke, Asher couldn’t resist giving the guy a few more hard kicks, just to vent his frustration.
Zina, who had been watching the whole thing unfold, finally stepped forward, her face full of confusion.
She said, “But something doesn’t add up. Even if someone from the Carter family could find this place, I doubt they’d have the pull to bribe the owner.
“And if they really wanted to go after Kellan, there are so many ways they could do it. The last thing they’d do is put themselves in such obvious danger, where they could get caught any second.
“Besides, you guys have a lot of contact with them. They should know by now that Kellan is way too sharp. If they tried anything, there’s no way it would slip past him.”
As she spoke, Zina glanced over at Kellan, looking to him for his opinion.
Kellan, who had seemed so confident just moments before, suddenly furrowed his brows, falling silent as he sank into deep thought.
A few seconds later, Kellan turned to Zina. “You’re right. As for this guy, deal with him,” he said coolly.
“Kellan, you’re a damn devil. Do you even know who you’re messing with? If you dare lay a hand on me, my boss will make you pay,” the man screamed, his voice raw with desperation.
Kellan just found him unbearably noisy and waved him off, not even bothering to respond, letting Asher haul the guy away.
A few minutes later, Asher straightened out his rumpled clothes and walked back inside.
Asher walked up to Kellan and held out his hand. “Take a look at this. It feels familiar, but I just can’t remember where I’ve seen it before.”

“Go tomorrow. I’ll give them a heads–up in advance. No problem.” Kaia said in a firm tone.
Scott was stunned, staring at Kaia for a long time, but couldn’t see a trace of joking on Kaia’s face.
He asked again, “Really?”
“When have I ever lied to you?” Kaia raised an eyebrow.
Scott hesitated, “But, but that’s K&B. How, how could you…”
“Don’t ask so much for now. You go to K&B tomorrow, and you’ll know when you get there.” Kaia didn’t plan
to explain too much to Scott. Just as she said, everything would be clear when Scott was there.
At that moment, Kaia received a message from Tobias.
[The butler said you went to the Bennett family?]
Kaia edited a text message and replied, [Yeah, I went there to get my things.]
Tobias: [Why didn’t you ask me to come along?]
Kaia: [I just went to get my things. Why would I need so many people? For a group fight?]
Tobias smiled helplessly.
Tobias: [Have them made things difficult for you there?]
Kaia: [Not really.]
Tobias: [Is it convenient to video chat?]
Kaia looked at Scott beside her and dialed a video call without hesitation.
Scott had seen the messages on Kaia’s phone. Now that he saw Kaia start a video call, he curiously moved closer at once.
The next second, her eyes lit up when he saw the handsome face on the other end.
He asked, “Kaia, is this your boyfriend?”
Tobias curved the corners of his mouth. “Hi, I’m your brother–in–law.”
Kaia was speechless.
“Really? Kaia, are you married?” Scott was shocked by Tobias’s words.
“Do you think it’s possible?” Kaia said with a helpless look.
Tobias didn’t dwell on it and shifted the subject. “Kaia, sweetie, is this your younger brother? When did he
arrive?”

Resting in Asher’s palm was a small, round badge marked with a strange totem. It looked strikingly old, almost as if it held some kind of mysterious power.

‘Sweetie? The way he addressed Kaia is so intimate, and Kaia doesn’t seem to show any disgust.’ Scott thought and guessed that there must be something between this man and Kaia.
He knew that because Kaia used to be chased by people, and every time she showed a very impatient look.
