“H–How should I know what you’re like?” Rosie stammered, her expression changing.
She hurriedly turned her head away, but not before shooting a sharp glare at the man who’d just spoken up. The man immediately looked aggrieved.
From that one look, it was like something exploded in Zina’s mind. If she remembered right, this was the same guy she’d seen getting into it with Rosie before.
Back then, she’d just been sitting in the car and only caught a glimpse, so it barely registered with her.
But now, thinking back, the whole scene was suddenly much clearer.
Zina smirked, her eyes twinkling with mischief as she looked at the man in front of her.
“Wow, are you two about to tie the knot or something? I remember catching you together before.
“Honestly, I always thought Rosie would end up marrying into the Carter family, but it seems like you two have your plans, huh?” Zina teased, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
“And this guy here really does look mature and dependable. You two actually make quite the pair,” she added with a sly grin.
At her words, the man’s small, beady eyes lit up instantly. He even started to think that maybe Zina wasn’t as much of a pain as Rosie had made her out to be.
Completely lost in his own little world, he didn’t even notice that Rosie was clearly freaking out right next to
him.
“W–What kind of nonsense are you spouting?” Rosie blurted out, her cheeks flushing bright red.
She anxiously scanned the room, only relaxing a little when she confirmed Kyle was nowhere in sight. But she still shot Zina a fierce glare.
Zina looked the man up and down with obvious amusement, her eyes full of interest.
‘So he’s just a backup guy, she thought, a smirk playing at her lips. ‘Now this is getting fun.
Zina put on an exaggerated look of surprise. “Oh, so you two aren’t actually a thing like I thought? What a pity.”
“Shut up,” Rosie snapped, her cheeks burning with embarrassment. She’d clearly realized she’d just made way
too much of a scene.
But at this point, all Rosie could do was stand there, face flushed and tongue–tied, shooting a pleading look at the man beside her, hoping he’d back her up.
But after Rosie’s earlier reaction, the man had gone completely stone–faced. He acted like he hadn’t seen a thing and just turned his head away.
