Kaia’s eyes instantly widened, and when she raised her hand to push the man away, her strength completely
faded.
Tobias noticed this. In the past, she would have pushed him away without hesitation, but now she didn’t. It seemed that his efforts had not been in vain.
Thinking of this, Tobias couldn’t help but curl his lips, his eyes filled with smiles.
He took the girl’s hand, kissed it, and looked at her with affectionate eyes.
“Kaia, how about we get re–engaged? The grand, spectacular kind. I want the whole world to know that I am engaged to you, Kaia.”
The gentle voice lingered in Kaia’s ears, and her heart beat faster involuntarily.
Kaia spent a lot of effort adjusting her breathing and pulled out her hand at the same time.
“Let’s go. Let’s go back.”
“Huh?” This turn of events stunned Tobias. He had clearly felt that the girl was still a little moved by him.
Kaia grinned at Tobias, revealing a mouthful of white teeth, “Go to bed early, maybe we’ll get engaged in our dreams.”
Tobias chuckled helplessly, “So, are you willing to come into my dream tonight and get engaged to me?”
‘How can you relate it to this?‘ Kaia was speechless.
Speechless as she was, she was still in a good mood.
“Let’s go, it’s almost 12 o’clock. It’s too late. Be careful not to sleep too deeply, or you won’t have any dreams.”
“You’re right.” Tobias said, taking Kaia’s hand.
Kaia looked down at their hands, and before she could say anything, the man spoke first.
“Just let me hold it. Have you forgotten that I’m cold?”
Kaia felt the burning palm and rolled her eyes at Tobias.
But she didn’t let go.
“August 14th, do you have time?” Tobias asked.
Kaia looked up, “What for?”
“I want you to go shopping with me.”

With that, she sent over all the files in one click and looked back up at Kellan.

“Now, let’s talk about our deal. My goal is to reopen the car accident case from five years ago. I want to settle the score with the Sinclair family.
“But as for Sean, I’m counting on you, Mr. Carter, to make sure he can testify for me,” she said.
Kellan bowed his head, his whole demeanor showing he was seriously considering Zina’s proposal.
A few seconds later, he looked up, a flicker of admiration passing through his eyes.
“I agree. Miss Lambert, you truly embody the spirit of the Lambert family. I’ve witnessed it firsthand today,” he said. Kellan stared right at Zina, a playful glint flickering in his eyes.
Zina smiled as she closed her laptop, shooting Kellan a sidelong glance. “Oh, don’t flatter me. My skills are nothing special. But when it comes to clearing my name, you bet I take it seriously.”
“Of course, you do,” Kellan replied, his gaze lingering on her with obvious interest.
Zina had never seen Kellan so serious before, and for a moment, she was completely mesmerized by him.
Her fingers unconsciously traced over her heart, and as she lowered her head, she thought she heard the ghost of a sigh whispering in her ear. ‘It was supposed to be like this,’ she thought.
“There are still guests outside. Aren’t you going to go down and entertain them?” Kellan finally couldn’t help himself and asked.
He watched as Zina just sat in her chair, fiddling with her phone, and couldn’t resist speaking up.
Zina snapped back to herself, looked up at Kellan, and gently massaged the spot between her brows before speaking softly.
“I’ll
go
down in a bit. Someone’s probably handling things for me right now,” she said.
With that, Zina reopened her laptop, and with a few taps on the keyboard, the entire feed from the hall’s security cameras was displayed for Kellan to see.
This was supposed to be a time for everyone to talk business and clink glasses, but there was one person who just didn’t fit in, making herself conspicuous in the middle of the business forum.
Lydia was dressed up like a butterfly, a wine glass in hand as she flitted from place to place.
Her white dress was especially eye–catching among the crowd of nearly all black and gray suits.
But Lydia seemed completely oblivious to everything around her, twirling back and forth as if she were in her own little world.
“Ethan, you haven’t visited our house in forever. You finally showed up for Zina’s recognition party. I was starting to wonder if you’d forgotten all about me,” she pouted, her voice soft and a little sulky.
Right now, Lydia looked adorably aggrieved, staring up at him with wide, pleading eyes.

“Shopping?”
“Yeah, to buy you clothes.”

Kaia stopped, her brow furrowed with even more confusion, “Why would you suddenly want to buy me clothes for no reason?”
Tobias lowered his eyes and replied, “Because that day is my birthday.”
Kaia was surprised to get this answer.
“Why do you want to buy me clothes on your birthday? Shouldn’t I be buying them for you?”
“Okay, deal. Then it’s settled. On August 14th, you’ll accompany me shopping,” Tobias said with a smile.
Kaia was speechless.
“Am I being played?”
Tobias laughed heartily.
Kaia couldn’t help but raise the corners of her mouth as she watched the man laugh so happily.
This feeling was quite nice.
Two days later, Kaia sat in the Sharp family’s car. Donald was driving, and Penny kept talking to Kaia.
“Let me tell you, since we partnered with K&B, the Sharp family has become highly sought after. Rita used to look down on me, always holding her nose high in the air and raising her chin to the sky. Now, when she sees me, she’s so jealous she wants to bite me.”
“Do you remember when we were in the mall a while ago, and Rita showed off, saying they were going to partner with K&B? In the end, the partnership failed, and the good opportunity fell to Sharp family. You don’t know how good that feels! It feels so good that I can laugh out loud in the middle of the night.”
“I heard your company is doing very well now, and your dad was even on the financial channel,” Kaia said casually.
“Ah! You saw it! I thought you didn’t care about this.” Penny got very excited when she talked about this.
“Conrad from the financial channel invited my dad for a full half–hour exclusive interview, and it was broadcast during prime time. So honorable! Kaia, all of this is thanks to you, thank you so much!”
Kaia smiled and said, “That’s your own effort. What are you thanking me for?”
“Dare you say that you didn’t contribute to this? I won’t believe you if you don’t admit it.” Penny said, holding
Kaia’s hand.
Donald observed Kaia’s expression through the rearview mirror.
Although her face was still indifferent, there were some subtle changes.

Ethan’s breath caught for a second, a dazed look flickering in his eyes as he gazed at her, then he quickly shook his head, trying to snap himself out of it.
“How could I possibly forget you? It’s just that I haven’t found the right opportunity to visit.
“You know, Mrs. Lambert and my mom get along pretty well, but if she doesn’t invite me, it’d feel a bit too abrupt for me to just show up on my own,” he explained.
As Ethan spoke, he shook his head again, making it obvious just how troubled he felt.
Lydia’s fingers clenched tightly around her wine glass, the only sign of her tension being the faint tremble running through her body.
A few seconds later, Lydia managed to compose herself, fixing her gaze intently on the man in front of her. “It’s fine, as long as you still remember me.
“Ethan, you have no idea what it’s been like for me at home lately. Sometimes I just feel so lost. I don’t even know what I’m supposed to do anymore.”
She continued, “Ever since my sister came back, it’s like I don’t belong in my own house anymore. Mom doesn’t really care about me, and my brothers are never around. I—”
By the end, Lydia’s voice was thick with emotion, on the verge of breaking.
But she still looked up at him earnestly, as if she were trying to etch Ethan’s face into her heart forever.
Ethan instinctively reached out to Lydia, his breath quickening, a subtle heat rising between them.
“Lydia, how could Mrs. Lambert and Mr. Lambert treat you like this? You’ve been part of the Lambert family for over twenty years. There’s no way they don’t care about you,” he said, his voice full of concern.
“Yeah, I’ve been wondering the same thing. Maybe Zina just doesn’t like me, but there’s nothing I can do about it.
“All I want now is to just live peacefully with the Lambert family,” Lydia replied softly, her tone tinged with sadness. She pouted, her clear eyes glistening with unshed tears.
Almost instantly, Ethan was utterly entranced, standing there without moving a muscle,
Lydia caught every move he made and just lowered her head, smirking to herself where Ethan couldn’t see.
What Lydia didn’t realize was that, right then, someone was glued to the security cameras, watching her every
move.
All those little gestures of hers were caught on camera, clear as day.
And at that moment, the three people in front of the laptop were watching with great interest, tsk–tsking in
amusement.

“I just said a few words to Conrad and mentioned your Sharp family.” Kaia was not completely lying. She did say a few words to Conrad.
As for the main points of the content, she avoided mentioning them.
“See, I was right, so this is mainly thanks to you. When we get to Splendor Hotel later, my dad and I have to thank you properly.”
Today, Penny brought Kaia here to thank her.
Soon, the car stopped in front of the Splendor Hotel gate.
“Look! Dining at Splendor Hotel is super expensive. I used to come here with my dad only on special important days.” Penny said, pulling Kaia inside.
After arriving at the reception desk, Penny asked the staff, “Is there a private room available?”
“There’s only one left,” the staff replied.
“Then give it to us-” Before she finished speaking, she was interrupted by someone walking up behind her.
“We’ll take the last room.”
The voice was familiar. When they turned around, it was Rita, whom they had been discussing, accompanied by her parents, Issac and Sophia.
“What are you looking at? We’re taking the private room.” Rita said, with her hands on her hips, being outrageously bossy.
“Hey! We clearly came first, okay? Don’t you even know first come, first served?” Penny retorted, stepping forward.
“It’s true you came first, but you didn’t ask for it first. We asked for it first, so the private room is ours.”
“I’m speechless. Rita, do you always have to take things from others? You stole clothes at Kaye, and now you’re stealing a private room at Splendor Hotel. I’ve never seen anyone so shameless like you!” Penny’s chest heaved with anger.
Rita’s face flushed red. “You’re the shameless one! You didn’t pay for that dress last time, and you didn’t ask for this first. Why should it be yours?”
“I… I…” Penny realized that arguing with shameless people is a waste of breath, and it only mede her angrier.
Just then, Kaia’s voice suddenly sounded in her ear.
Kaia said to the staff, “This is the deposit for the private room.”
Rita stepped forward to pull Kaia. “How can you be so shameless? The private room is ours! Ours!”
Issac and Sophia also stepped forward, blocking Kaia on either side.

“Kaia, I haven’t settled the score with you for bullying my daughter last time, and now you dare to be arrogant!” Issac looked at Kaia with dangerous, narrowed eyes.
Sophia glared at Kaia with her eyes wide open. “I’ve heard about your problematic character before, and seeing you today proves the rumors are true. We clearly asked for the private room first, yet you dare to snatch it from us. Take a good look at yourself. How could a country bumpkin like you dare to offend our Parsons family!”
Seeing the family of three bullying Kaia, Penny immediately stepped in, along with Donald, standing in front of Kaia to protect her.
