Her sudden kneeling instantly drew everyone’s attention. In that moment, countless eyes landed on Zina.
“Is the Lambert family really this messed up? I never noticed before,” someone whispered.
“Yeah, I never realized the Lamberts couldn’t even keep things straight. For a daughter they’ve raised all these years to end up like this, she must have been really desperate,” another person commented.
“It’s just sad. She was perfectly fine, and now look at her,” someone else added.
The room was suddenly filled with gossip, the voices surrounding the three of them.
Richard clenched his fists, staring coldly at Lydia. “You’ve already caused such a scene. I suppose you were prepared for the consequences, weren’t you?” he questioned.
“Dad. I… Lydia’s face turned pale, her hands trembling. Still, she fought to keep her emotions in check, pretending to look even more innocent and pitiful.
“Since you say Zina pushed you, and we have security cameras here, let’s check the footage,” Richard said coldly. He closed his eyes, making it clear he didn’t want to look at Lydia anymore.
“But Dad, I think the cameras here might be broken,” Lydia whispered.
“They’re not broken. They were fixed just yesterday,” Zina replied nonchalantly from the side.
Lydia’s face immediately fell, her expression paling. Her lips quivered as if she wanted to speak, but no words
came out.
Richard watched it all, shaking his head slightly. He let out a deep breath before saying, “Copy the security footage over
“Wait, Dad, there’s really no need for that,” Lydia blurted out in a panic, cutting him off. “I just remembered, maybe it wasn’t Zina who pushed me. Maybe I wasn’t paying attention.”
Lydia knew deep down that after this, Richard probably wouldn’t trust a single word she said anymore. She was deeply unwilling to accept this and blamed everything on Zina.
“That’s enough Co upstairs, Richard said. He couldn’t even be bothered to say anything nice–he just told Lydia to head upstairs.
Lydia didn’t dare meet his eyes. She didn’t even get a chance to speak before the bodyguards, hidden among the crowd, moved forward, blocking her way and signaling for her to leave.
“Miss Lambert, please go upstairs, one of them said, his voice firm but still polite.
Lydia was escorted upstairs without a chance to glance at Richard.
