Chapter 123
Chapter 123
“We didn’t offend anyone!”
“If it were just one incident, it might be a coincidence. But when multiple things happen simultaneously, it’s no longer a coincidence.” Louis analyzed.
your
“Uncle Isaac, think carefully, have you offended anyone? Speaking of which, I remember that cooperation with K&B was supposed to be a sure thing, but K&B suddenly informed you that you had offended someone you shouldn’t have, and canceled the cooperation.”
Hearing this, Issac’s heart skipped a beat.
The day K&B canceled their cooperation with them was the same day Rita had a conflict with Kaia.
At the time, he flatly denied that this matter could be related to Kaia.
And just now, so many things happened, and he also felt that it was impossible to be related to Kaia.
But just like Louis said, with the combination of the two incidents, how could there be so many coincidences?
Could it really be related to Kaia?
Thinking of this, Issac suddenly turned to look at Kaia, his scorching gaze seeming to pierce right through her, desperate to see if things were really as he suspected.
Kaia turned her head back to Issac with an indifferent smile.
Seeing Kaia like this, Issac became more and more alarmed.
He spat out a name after a long while, “Kaia.”
“What?” When Louis heard this name, his expression was obviously stunned for a moment. “Uncle Isaac, you just said Kaia, could this matter be related to Kaia?”
“I don’t know, I-” Before Issac could finish his words, Sophia received a call from K&B.
“I couldn’t get through to Mr. Parsons‘ phone just now, so I had to call you.”
Sophia didn’t understand what K&B was calling them for at this time.
“May I ask what’s the matter?”
The voice on the other end of the phone said, “You have repeatedly troubled K&B. Just now, Mr. Dorsey spoke. In Morganburg, there can’t be both the Parsons family and K&B. If there is K&B, there’s no Parsons family,”
Sophia’s phone was on speaker, so Issac heard everything she said clearly, including Louis, who was on the phone with Issac.
With the troublemaker gone, the guests who had been watching understood Richard’s stance and quickly fell silent. The hall, once filled with tension, now seemed as peaceful as it had been at the start.
Zina felt she had wasted enough time that day. She relaxed her shoulders and was about to find a quiet place to rest when she bumped into Kellan, who was walking toward her.
“I didn’t mean to stay out of it earlier,” Kellan said. “There were just so many people here, and it wouldn’t have been right for me to show up unexpectedly.”
“I understand,” Zina replied sincerely. “After all, we don’t have an official engagement yet. If you had stepped in for me, it wouldn’t have been worth it for you.”
She truly meant what she said, but for some reason, Kellan’s expression only grew more troubled.
Zina really couldn’t read what Kellan was thinking, so she just kept quiet.
After a long moment, Kellan finally spoke. “It’s nothing. As long as you get it,” he said quietly.
The farce finally came to an end, and by the time all the guests had left, no one mentioned what had happened again.
After seeing off the last guest, Richard’s forced smile, which he had worn all evening, finally disappeared.
Upstairs, Lydia kicked at her door in frustration, but it didn’t budge. The bodyguard outside spoke lazily, “Miss Lambert, you’d better behave yourself. Most of the guests have already left.
“Mr. Lambert said he’ll be up soon. You’d better start thinking about how you’ll explain things to him.”
Lydia froze mid–kick, and a wave of icy dread washed over her, making her tremble uncontrollably. “Let me out!” she shouted. “You’re just a bunch of bodyguards who can be bought off with pocket change! What right do you have to lock me in here?”
“They might not have the right, but what about me?” Richard’s deep, authoritative voice boomed through the door, full of command.
Lydia froze, completely still.
The door opened, and Richard stepped out, his face dark and cold.
Lydia’s knees buckled, and she almost collapsed from fear. “Dad, I only said those things because they were bullying me. You have no idea–they locked me in here, and I was really scared,” Lydia pleaded.
“Scared? So now you know what fear feels like?” Richard said, his voice filled with disbelief. He looked at Lydia as if seeing her for the first time, his gaze heavy.
“When you said all those things downstairs, when you framed Zina, you weren’t afraid of the consequences. You’ve made so many mistakes and still haven’t shown any remorse.
“I should’ve listened to your mother. I never should’ve let Adrian bring you back,” Richard said, his voice heavy with regret,
“Could it really be because of Kaia? Conrad actually mobilized so many people for an intern at K&B?”
Hearing this, Issac quickly asked, alarmed, “You said Kaia is an intern at K&B?”
“Yes, some time ago, Andrea and I went to K&B to compete for a project, the project that K&B terminated with you. As a result, we ran into Kaia at the company. It was because of Kaia that K&B chose to cooperate with the Sharp family. It was also because of Kaia that Conrad had the security guards throw me out,” Louis said through gritted teeth at the end.
Issac’s mind was buzzing as he stared blankly at Kaia.
Louis continued, “You said Kaia is next to you now? What conflict do you two have?”
Issac felt bitter inside. Now that things had been said to this point, if he still thought this matter had nothing to do with Kaia from beginning to end, then he might as well be dead.
“I’ll explain this to you in detail later. I’ll get through this crisis first.”
After hanging up the phone, Issac gritted his teeth and walked up to Kaia.
“Kaia, you don’t have any deep hatred for our family. Why do you have to be so ruthless and drive our whole family out of Morganburg?”
Penny and Donald had lost count of how many times they had looked at each other. At this moment, both of them saw extreme shock in each other’s eyes.
They realized all of that was really Kaia’s doing.
‘Oh my god! How did she do it? What unknown background and identity does she have? The more we know, the more mysterious she seems.‘ They thought.
Kaia’s gaze shifted gloomily to Issac. “Saying I’m ruthless? That’s interesting, Mr. Parsons. Let me ask you, if I didn’t have this ability, would I have been bullied by your daughter back then? If I didn’t have this ability, would it have been right for you to snatch the private room from me just now?”
“And your whole family keeps calling me a country bumpkin, with that look of contempt as if you were looking at an ant. You even deliberately set the tone just now to have the people around me attack me and insult me as a mistress who seduces people.”
“Letting you get out of Morganburg is already my kindness. I’m just too lazy to cause you trouble, otherwise I can put your whole family in jail for defamation alone.”
Issac’s face turned pale, and Sophia also gnashed her teeth while looking at Kaia.
Rita was young and couldn’t hold back her temper.
“Kaia, don’t push your luck. My dad has already apologized to you in a low voice, yet you are still being so aggressive. How can you be so vicious?”
Kaia was really fed up with this family, and her tone was a little impatient.
Hearing this, Lydia completely lost it. She shouted desperately, “Dad! You can’t do this to me. I’m your daughter! Dad, I know I was wrong, okay? I promise I won’t use the Lambert family name like that again.”
“So now you know exactly what you’ve done, huh?” Richard said slowly, shaking his head. “From now on, you’re going to Corfield. There’s a Lambert family house there. Focus on your studies, and unless absolutely necessary, don’t come back.”
With that, Richard slowly closed his eyes, his fingers clenching tightly. But for some reason, he couldn’t calm down anymore.
He wasn’t made of stone–he had feelings too. Sending his daughter away hurt him deeply, but sadly, he couldn’t keep making the same mistakes.
“No, Dad, please! I really know I was wrong,” Lydia cried out desperately, her voice trembling as she struggled. But Lydia’s weak resistance was no match for the bodyguards‘ strength. Soon, she was dragged away.
Her desperate cries still echoed down the hallway, each one pounding painfully against Richard’s heart.
After dealing with Lydia, Richard turned to leave, but as he did, he saw Zina walking by. Zina, who resembled Yvonne in her youth, was his daughter, having inherited his depth and strategic thinking.
Although he hadn’t spent much time with Zina, he knew that she was the one in the family most similar to him in personality.
With that thought, Richard spoke decisively. “Zina, do you have a moment to talk?” he asked.
Zina paused and turned, her face filled with confusion. When she met Richard’s sincere gaze, she nodded and walked inside.
“So according to you, when you mess with me, I deserve it because I’m worthless, but when I deal with you, I’m being vicious? Since when does the world’s justice belong to your family?”
Rita was so angry that she wanted to say something more, but Sophia stopped her in time.
Although Sophia stopped Rita, the look in her eyes towards Kaia was extremely vicious.
Issac also had a look of forced restraint, preparing to retaliate when he had the chance in the future.
Kaia knew very well that arguing with such a despicable family was not as quick as throwing a punch directly.
“I’m telling you, you’d better get out of Morganburg tonight, or I’ll definitely send you to court tomorrow.”
“You’re so disgusting! I’ll tear you apart!” Rita was about to rush up.
“Rita! Don’t be impulsive!” Sophia and Issac pulled Rita together.
“Let’s go.”
Penny felt so good watching the Parsons family leave in a disheveled manner, and she didn’t take her eyes off them until they had completely left.
“Kaia, now you have to admit that all those things just now were your doing, right?”
Kaia nodded, “I admit that I informed Conrad to do it, but I had nothing to do with the sudden excavation of cultural relics at the construction site. I just sent a message to Conrad to ask about it, and he was also very surprised.”
Penny was stunned for a moment, and then burst out laughing.
“Wow! It seems to be a natural disaster! I guess it must be God who can’t stand their family, so He took action.”
Kaia also found it funny, this was too coincidental.
“By the way, Kaia, my mom is coming back from a business trip, and she has always wanted to meet you. Why don’t you find some time to come to my house? My mom wants to cook for you herself.”
Kaia had no way to refuse Penny’s warm invitation, so she had to agree.
Rita and her family were sitting in the villa, looking disheveled and embarrassed.
“Dad, are we really just going to leave Morganburg in such a dejected manner? I don’t want to leave!”
“Oh! I hate it too! But Conrad has made such a big show for Kaia now. If we continue to drag on, our family will definitely go bankrupt.”
Sophia echoed, “I really didn’t expect that Kaia’s sugar daddy would be Conrad.”
Now that things have come to this, they would be fools if they still couldn’t guess who Kaia’s sugar daddy was.
Rita suddenly had a flash of inspiration and thought of a good idea.
