Chapter 127
Chapter 127
Zina bit her lip, her eyes full of hope as she looked at Kellan. But the moment their eyes met, he immediately turned his head away.
‘So this guy didn’t hear a single word I just said? Zina thought, feeling utterly defeated.
Just as she was trying to figure out a simpler way to explain things to Kellan, he suddenly looked at her. “Are you really mad at me? I get it now, I just didn’t expect you to know so much. You’ve really impressed me.
“But there’s one thing I don’t get. Whether you’re Miss Sinclair or Miss Lambert, it doesn’t seem like you’d ever need to get involved with this stuff. So, what else are you hiding from me?”
Kellan leaned in closer, his eyes never leaving Zina, as if trying to uncover her secrets.
But Zina didn’t give him any of the expressions he was hoping for. Her calm and distant demeanor seemed to make him more uneasy, causing him to frown.
Zina finally looked up at him, locking eyes without flinching. After a few seconds, she sighed softly, a hint of helplessness in her gaze.
“I’m really not as capable as you think, Mr. Carter. This is just some random stuff I messed around with when I was bored. If you really like this kind of thing, I can hook you up with some people who know more about it.
“But honestly, your network is far bigger than mine, so you probably don’t need my help at all, right?” Zina replied.
Kellan, who had been frowning the whole time, finally looked up at her, his expression serious. After a few seconds, he sighed. “It’s nothing. I guess I was just overthinking it.”
Zina, relieved she hadn’t given herself away, quietly lowered her gaze. Once she calmed down, Zina looked back at Kellan.
“Everything’s packed up. Do you have any other plans for today? If not, why don’t you come back to the Lambert family’s villa with me?” Her face reddened as she spoke, and she trailed off, looking up at Kellan, feeling unsure of herself.
If she hadn’t run into Yvonne earlier today and dragged Kellan into this to avoid trouble, she wouldn’t be so frustrated and in need of his help.
The silence stretched on, and Zina was starting to lose hope when Kellan finally spoke.
“Alright. Actually, I’ve already discussed some collaborations with Mr. Lambert. Going over today would be a good opportunity to talk more about it.” Only then did a hint of a smile finally appear on Kellan’s face.
Rosie was clinging to a man’s arm. When the elevator doors opened, she froze in place. “Why are you here? Kel-*
Kellan’s presence was so overwhelming that even though Rosie had started speaking, she froze, her eyes filled with complexity as she stared at him.
