Chapter 130
Zina froze, unsure of how to respond. She honestly had no idea how to describe Kellan–his way of thinking was just way too out there for her. “I don’t really think that’s necessary, Zina muttered.
“No, you
don’t understand,” Kellan replied. “Men can be very particular about the little things. Especially when it comes to elders, they really value the thoughtfulness of their children.”
For the first time, Kellan’s expression turned serious, and he focused intently on Zina. Zina felt like Kellan was more like a member of this family, someone who truly cared about the elders of the Lambert family.
After hesitating for what felt like forever, Zina finally spoke up. “Actually, well, I just got back to the Lambert family, you know?”
As she looked into his eyes, Kellan froze, caught by the sparkle in her gaze. He let out a relieved breath and gave a slight nod. “Alright,” Kellan responded.
Seeing Zina suddenly relax, Kellan ruffled his hair and unlocked his phone. His fingers flew across the screen with lightning speed–even Zina was a bit taken aback, craning her neck to try and sneak a peek.
But from her angle, she couldn’t see a single thing. She felt a bit frustrated.
A few minutes later, Kellan finally finished what he was doing and looked up, only to see Zina sitting on the couch, looking bored as she stared blankly out the window.
“Is something on your mind? You don’t seem very happy,” Kellan’s voice suddenly broke the silence.
Zina jerked her head around, met Kellan’s concerned gaze, and quickly shook her head. “It’s nothing, I just think it’s probably about time. Why don’t we go see what’s going on in the kitchen?” she suggested.
“Alright,” Kellan said, getting to his feet. He glanced at his phone, which had lit up again, pursed his lips slightly, and added, “My people are here, so the gift for your father should be ready now.”
Zina froze for a moment. “So that’s what you were up to just now?”
“Yeah, I brought some good coffee for your father,” Kellan replied. He noticed the conflicted look on Zina’s face and asked, “What’s wrong? Do you think the coffee I picked isn’t good enough?”
“No, no,” Zina quickly waved her hand. But seeing Kellan in such a manner still left her feeling uneasy. “I didn’t prepare anything, and compared to you, it kind of feels…
Zina couldn’t even find the right words to explain it, and her face scrunched up in confusion as she looked at
Kellan.
But instead of offering any suggestions, Kellan just chuckled. “There’s no need to worry about that. This is your home. You shouldn’t act like a guest here. Leave everything to me,” he said.
Zina’s expression finally softened. Kellan’s words cut straight to the heart, and her furrowed brow relaxed.
Just as they reached the kitchen door, Kali came out carrying a plate of food. “Miss Lambert, dinner’s ready! Mr. Lambert just called–he’ll be here soon, and most of the dishes are already out. I was just about to come
