Chapter 133
At Lana’s words, Yvonne’s expression changed instantly. “What do you mean by that?” Yvonne asked.
Lana chuckled, covering her mouth as she quickly walked over to Yvonne, taking her hand more earnestly.
speaking even
“Yvonne, you have a good opinion of my son Leo, don’t you? I brought him along today. I already know that Leo and your daughter have feelings for each other.
“Our families have always had a strong relationship, and it would be even better if the kids could get married,” Lana said.
After a quick glance, Lana noticed Zina standing next to Yvonne, and for a moment, her eyes widened in surprise at Zina’s beauty.
She almost immediately let go of Yvonne’s hand and hurried to Zina’s side, her eyes roaming over her with open admiration. “Miss Lambert, you are truly a beauty. No wonder my silly son is so taken with you,” Lana added.
Seeing that Lana was completely caught up in her own plans, almost ready to settle the marriage herself, Yvonne couldn’t take it anymore. She walked over and positioned herself between Lana and Zina, clearly stopping the conversation from going any further.
“Mrs. Turner, you must be joking. Marriage is something that should be up to the kids themselves–it’s not for you and me to decide. Besides, this is my newly acknowledged daughter, Zina.
“I believe you were actually talking about Lydia. Lydia is busy in Raynesse right now and won’t be back. anytime soon. Maybe you could go find her there?” Yvonne said.
Yvonn subtly moved Zina behind her, making it clear she didn’t want Zina involved any further.
Lana froze in place, turned around, and stared at Leo in disbelief as he kept his head lowered. Seeing her son like this, Lana instantly understood what was happening, and her smile quickly faded,
She had thought her son had finally wised up and chosen a capable, refined girl who seemed like she could help the Turner family through their mess.
But no, Leo had fallen for Lydia, who was completely unsuitable. She couldn’t forget how terrible Lydia’s reputation had been. She was willful, headstrong, and completely unreasonable.
Lana couldn’t even imagine what would happen if someone like that actually married into the Turner family -she doubted they could even keep things together as they were now.
Thinking this, Lana clenched her fists, took a deep breath, and forced herself to calm down. She reached out to take Yvonne’s hand again..
“I was in such a rush to get here that I didn’t confirm things beforehand. But I remember you saying you wanted to set up Leo and Zina. So, is there some misunderstanding here?” Lana said.
Lana leaned in closer to Yvonne but in the brief moment she looked in. she shot a sharp look at her son.
