Chapter 134
On the stage, Owen began to introduce the last item. “I believe that you already got the news. The last item is a house call from Dr. Miracle, who once cured the mother of SR Alliance’s boss.”
Lincoln and Ruth became thrilled. They had come for Dr. Miracle because Melvin was on his deathbed.
Owen continued. “It is said that Dr. Miracle can bring the dying back to life. She cured the mother of SR Alliance’s boss and helped a patient, who had been tied to his wheelchair for more than twenty years, get back
on his feet.
“Her current treatment of Mr. Moreno’s grandmother is effective. I love to bid for this opportunity against you. However, my family doesn’t need it for the time being, and Dr. Miracle forbids me to do so.”
The participants knew that Owen was telling the truth. A house call from Dr. Miracle was like a safeguard because life was unpredictable.
Kaia looked at Owen on the stage and clicked her tongue. She knew him well, so the last condition was her precaution against his selfishness.
She had been friends with him for years. She would love to help if he or his family needed her medical skills.
“Let’s begin. The starting price is 15 million dollars, Owen added.
“20 million dollars!”
“30 million dollars!”
30 million dollars? Lincoln and Ruth became agitated. Their budget was limited though Melvin was in critical
condition.
“36 million dollars.”
*60 million dollars, Gideon shouted.
Kaia looked back at Gideon, and he gave her a smiling face as his response.
Lincoln stood up anxiously and shouted, “100 million dollars.” Instantly, his heart ached. Then, he bowed to his competitors with tearful eyes.
He said, “I am the head of the Bennett family, Lincoln. My dad is in critical condition, and many doctors told me to prepare for his funeral. Dr. Miracle is my last hope. I sincerely wish for this precious opportunity.
“We, the Bennett family, aren’t that influential, but you have the word that we won’t say no if you need our help in the future. Please help my poor dad.”
Then, Lincoln bowed again, tears streaming down his face. Andrea and Ruth bowed too,
“Please help my poor grandfather,” Andrea said with tears all over her face.
It was only after Lana finished yelling that Leo finally dared to look up and mutter, I thought, after all these years with the Lamberts, Lydia wouldn’t end up like this.”
“You’re my son. How can you be so clueless?” Lana snapped. After scolding him, Lana let out a heavy sigh.
Either way, the Lamberts were no longer an option, and the Turner family was hanging by a thread. She needed to figure out a way out of this mess–fast.
Outside, the moon had come and gone, and morning was breaking with the sun shining on the ground.
–
Zina had expected the Turner family to cause trouble, but she didn’t think it would happen again so soon- only three days later.
After finishing some errands and returning home, Zina walked in to find Yvonne brooding on the sofa, a feeling of confusion rising inside her.
Normally, even when Yvonne was angry, she would just put on a cold face, but this time her emotions were written all over her face. Something had clearly happened that made her lose her composure.
“What’s wrong? Did something happen today?” Zina asked.
Zina even wondered if it was related to the paparazzi photos of her and Kellan from a couple of days ago. But she had already handled that, so it shouldn’t have been making the rounds anymore.
Just as Zina was still puzzled, Yvonne burst out angrily, “It’s the Turner family again. I knew they’d try something after they left, but I never thought that one from the Turners would actually approach the Sinclair family.
Yvonne’s anger grew as she spoke. Thinking about seeing Lana and Avery laughing and chatting together while she was out shopping today made her furious.
Zina finally understood what had happened as she listened to Yvonne vent.
While Yvonne was shopping, she had seen Lana and Avery together, chatting and laughing. It seemed like they had even been talking about things from when Zina lived with the Sinclair family.
Zina rubbed her temples, finally understanding why Yvonne was so upset. With Avery’s temper, there was no way she would say anything nice about Zina, and with Lana stirring the pot, they were bound to say things that would upset Yvonne.
Zina sighed helplessly, looking up at the still–angry Yvonne, and tried to comfort her. “Mrs. Lambert, you really don’t need to care about what people say. Besides, the company is doing better than ever. We don’t have the time to waste on rumors.”
“Of course, I know that. But I just can’t let this go. Why should my well–behaved daughter be treated like this by them?” Yvonne said, her voice trembling.
Yvonne’s eyes were red from anger, and she just sat there, pressing her lips together in frustration.
At that moment, Andrea became a good granddaughter in the eyes of the public.
“I’ll pray for you forever,” she added. Instantly, she got a lot of praise.
She killed two birds with one stone. Besides her good reputation, her position in the Bennett family would be secure if Dr. Miracle cured Melvin.
To be honest, Kaia couldn’t help but admire Andrea. ‘Andrea wouldn’t be favored by the Bennett family if she weren’t so shameless, she thought.
She could beat Andrea if she didn’t mind playing dirty tricks or becoming shameless like Andrea.
Moved, the others let Lincoln win since they or their family weren’t in desperate need of Dr. Miracle at that
moment.
The auction was over. Kaia and Tobias left together. “I’ll go get the car, and you wait here,” Tobias said.
“Okay,” Kaia responded. No sooner had Tobias walked away than Andrea strutted toward Kaia.
“Kaia, what do you think of my show just now?” Andrea asked.
Kaia gave a thumbs–up and said with a serious face, “Brilliant! I didn’t know that you were so shameless.”
Instantly, Andrea was lost for words. She had come to show off, and she wanted to tell Kaia that she could stop Kaia from returning to the Bennett family forever.
“Humph! You must be jealous! Dr. Miracle will visit us tomorrow. Once she cures Grandpa, he will be grateful to me. My position in the Bennett family will be secure.” Andrea held her chin high.
Amused, Kaia failed to hold back her laughter.
“Why are you laughing?” Andrea shouted.
“You’ll find out soon. All of a sudden, Kaia looked forward to the visit to the Bennett family tomorrow.
Just keep pretending!” Andrea felt frustrated and indignant because Kaia always stayed calm before her tricks.
Kaia silently thought, “Tomorrow, we will know who is pretending.
“Kaia, Mom wants to know how you got acquainted with Mr. Fowler from Upward Entertainment.” Andrea was curious about the answer too.
Kaia shot one impatient glance at Andrea and replied, “None of your business, isn’t it? Who am I to you? To me, you are just passersby. Will you stick your nose into a passerby? So rudely?”
“You! You answer me now!” Andrea shouted.
Kaia pulled a long face. “No, I don’t want to.”
“Fine, fine! You win!” Andrea stormed off.
Zina, feeling helpless, sat down on the sofa just as her phone buzzed. Looking down at the screen, she saw a
new message.
When she looked up again, her expression had completely changed, and she looked much more cheerful. “Well, if that’s the case, we can take care of the Sinclair family first. It’s the perfect time to settle some old scores I have with them.” Zina said.
Yvonne froze, completely caught off guard. When their eyes met, Yvonne felt a wave of emotion rise in her chest.
“Zina’s so different from what I imagined. And there’s something about her that really reminds me of Richard. Am I just imagining things?‘ Yvonne wondered.
Yvonne quickly shook her head, leaned forward, and looked at Zina. “So, what are you planning?” Yvonne asked.
“It’s nothing serious. But if you trust me, Mrs. Lambert, would you mind lending me something?” Zina replied.
Yvonne grew even more hesitant at these words, but still asked carefully, “What exactly do you need?”
The next moment, Zina spoke slowly. “The Bradley family’s bodyguard team.”
After a long wait, there was still no sight of Tobias. It was weird. The parking lot was not far away, so what took Tobias so long? Then, Kaia decided to go find Tobias.
At the parking lot, she saw Bianca pestering Tobias. Bianca seemed to be drunk, and there were several times that Tobias had dodged Bianca when she threw herself into his arms.

“Toby, why are cold to me? Any shortcomings on me? What is good about Kaia? Why did you choose her over me?” Bianca gazed at Tobias with tears and indignation.
Tobias had a cold look in his eyes, and his tone was chilly. “To me, Kaia is so perfect that you are unqualified to compare with her.”
