Kellan had rarely seen Zina gritting her teeth like this, and for a moment, he found it a bit odd.
His hand hung loosely at his side, and his fingertips tapped the phone beside him, each tap landing with perfect precision.
As the evening grew darker, Zina had no intention of keeping Kellan any longer. She spoke in a low voice, “Alright, you should head back now. It’s getting late. I’ll think about the rest later, and if I hear anything, I’ll let you know right away.”
Kellan didn’t say much. He turned and left, with Zina watching him go.
However, after leaving the Lambert Villa, Kellan didn’t head straight back to the Carter family estate. Instead, he turned and headed to the hospital.

The private office on the top floor of the hospital was always a quiet place. It belonged to Hayden, and hardly anyone ever came looking for him. No one was allowed inside without his explicit permission.
Kellan gave a slight frown at the “Authorized Personnel Only” sign on the door, then pushed it open and walked right in.
“Didn’t I say this place is off–limits to unauthorized personnel?” Hayden’s angry voice echoed from inside. Almost immediately, a glass came flying, shattering into pieces at Kellan’s feet.
Kellan’s frown deepened, and he spoke in a cold voice, “Since when do I need to give you a heads–up before coming to your office?”
Hayden’s head jerked up at the sound of that familiar, icy voice. He found himself staring straight into Kellan’s frosty gaze. He instantly went pale.
He awkwardly scratched his head, desperately trying to make excuses. “Well, I didn’t expect you to come. I didn’t mean what I said earlier,” he stammered.
