Zina froze for a second, then quickly furrowed her brows, looking at Kellan in confusion. “What do you mean?” she asked.
“You’re trying to track down Sean, right? I have some influence in Springvale and can help you with the search,” Kellan said, raising an eyebrow, his eyes sparkling with confidence.
Zina felt a flutter in her heart. She quickly lowered her head and quietly nodded.
They quickly agreed and decided to head out immediately. But just as Zina opened the door, she found Yvonne lurking outside, looking suspicious.
“Mrs. Lambert?” Zina stared at Yvonne, who stood there with an awkward look on
her face–Zina couldn’t hide her confusion.
Yvonne awkwardly scratched her head and managed to pull out a strained smile. “Honestly, this was an accident. I just wanted to check on you two, but I didn’t expect you to still be here,” Yvonne said awkwardly.
Zina clearly didn’t buy it. She frowned and just looked at Yvonne without saying a
word.
After a few seconds, Yvonne slowly lowered her head. “Okay, fine, I admit it. I just wanted to see what you two were talking about. Well, are you heading out now?”
Yvonne mumbled.
Her face turned bright red, and she didn’t know what else to say, so she just kept
her head down.
Zina didn’t want to continue pressing the issue and simply nodded in agreement
with Yvonne’s words.
Yvonne sighed in relief, quickly flashing a smile and stepping aside to make room for them. “Hurry up and go. Don’t waste any more time,” she said, her voice warm.
“Okay,” Zina replied, giving Kellan a quick glance before the two of them headed out together.
