Bianca caught on to what Cecelia was trying to do and started acting all heartbroken.
She cried and said, “My bracelet! It’s the only thing my grandma left me. She loved me so much. I was devastated when she passed away, but at least I had this bracelet to remember her by.
“Kaia, how could you do this to me? I only said a few things because I wanted you to treat Toby well. You could’ve yelled at me or even hit me, but breaking my bracelet? That’s too much.”
Cecelia rushed over to Tobias, pointed at Kaia, and said, “Tobias, you have to do something! She broke Bianca’s precious bracelet and messed up my hand. Look, it hurts so bad!”
Tobias looked at Kaia. “Did you break her hand?”
‘Sort of. It’s not broken, just dislocated. I went easy on her because of Mr. Keaton Moreno. Otherwise, it really would’ve been broken,” Kaia said, as casually as if she were talking about the
weather or lunch.
Cecelia’s face turned red with anger. “Tobias, did you hear that? She’s hurting people, breaking things, and not even a little sorry! She’s out of control. You need to teach her a lesson–break her arms and legs and throw her out!”
‘I admit I hit her. She had it coming. As for Bianca’s bracelet…” Kaia turned to look at the crying Bianca. “You tried to bribe me into leaving the Moreno family with something your late grandma
gave you.
“That’s lower than what an animal would do. Actually, that’s insulting to animals–you’re worse.”
Bianca was so stunned that she couldn’t get a word out.
Cecelia jumped in to cover for her. “What are you talking about? Bianca never gave you the bracelet. You tried to snatch it from her, and when she didn’t give it to you, you broke it out of spite.
Kaia
gave a cold laugh and turned to Tobias. “So, who do you believe–me or them?”
“You, Tobias said without a second’s hesitation.
Kaia blinked, surprised by his quick answer.
“Tobias, you can’t believe her! She’s a nobody. She’s not good enough to marry you,” Cecelia snapped.
But Tobias’s eyes turned cold. Before she could react, his hand came down hard across her face.
The whole room froze. Even Kaia was caught off guard.

Cecelia clutched her cheek, her eyes wide in shock. “Tobias, you hit me, huh? Why?”

“Why? Kaia’s my fiancée. That makes her family. It’s bad enough you don’t respect her, but now you’re calling her names, huh? As her future husband, I have to set you straight,” Tobias said. His voice made the air in the room feel heavy.
Cecelia’s jaw dropped. Bianca shot Kaia a look full of jealousy–Tobias had never defended anyone like this before.
Even Kaia hadn’t expected him to keep siding with her.
After a long silence, Cecelia burst into loud sobs. “Tobias, I can’t believe you’re taking her side! She’s not my family, and I’ll never accept her. You didn’t even want to marry her before–so why now? Why defend her and hit me? I’m telling my parents about this!”
“Fine. You’re not okay with it, huh? Derek, go get the security camera footage,” Tobias said to the butler standing nearby.
“Yes, sir,” Derek replied and left.
Cecelia’s eyes went wide, and she glanced at Bianca, who was looking uneasy.
“Toby, let’s just drop the camera thing,” Bianca said quickly. “Kaia is Mr. Keaton Moreno’s favorite. Even if we don’t care about her, we should at least show respect to Mr. Keaton Moreno.
“The bracelet’s gone, and that’s that. My grandma’s already passed away, and having the bracelet back won’t change that. I’ll let it go for Mr. Keaton Moreno’s sake. I won’t hold it against Kaia.”
With that, she tugged on Cecelia’s arm. “Cecelia, let’s go.”
But Tobias’s voice stopped them cold. “Who said you could leave?”
Bianca and Cecelia looked at each other, confused. They couldn’t figure out why Tobias wouldn’t just let it go. In their minds, someone like him could never actually like a country girl like Kaia.
Tobias walked over to them. “Apologize to Kaia.”
“We didn’t do anything!” Bianca tried to argue,
“Fine,” Tobias said flatly. “Then I’ll send the camera footage to the whole family.”
That made both Bianca and Cecelia go pale.
“Apologize properly,” Tobias said in a voice like ice. “Or I’ll make sure this gets dragged all the way.”
The two of them looked like they were being forced to swallow poison. Apologizing to Kaia was humiliating in their eyes.
“I’ll count to three,” Tobias said, giving them no time to think. “One. Two-”

Cecelia and Bianca’s faces were almost purple from holding back their rage. They’d never been so embarrassed in their lives. But one look at Tobias’s face, and their courage caved in.
“We’re sorry,” they both said at the same time, even bowing to Kaia.
“You can go now,” Tobias said, his voice void of emotion.
They turned and left in a hurry.
Kaia walked up to Tobias. “Thanks for backing me up. I didn’t really need it, but I guess I owe you now. I don’t like owing people. How do you want me to pay you back?”
Tobias pointed upstairs. “Chess.”
Kaia nodded. “Alright, but I have to head out soon. How about tonight?”
“Fine,” Tobias agreed.
“Come to my room tonight. I’ll be waiting,” Kaia said casually–but to Tobias, it somehow sounded a little flirtatious.
By the time he shook off that strange feeling, Kaia was already gone.
“Where’s Kaia?” Tobias asked Derek.
“She just left,” Derek replied respectfully.
Tobias frowned and went into his study. He planned to work, but his attention wandered, and he found himself looking out the window. He spotted Kaia getting into a Rolls–Royce–with a man.
Tobias’s brows drew together as he thought that the man was Joel, Dr. Bennett’s bodyguard.
