“Exactly!” Penny stepped forward, hands on her hips. “Kaia is right. You have zero proof. This whole ‘kept woman‘ nonsense is nothing but wild guesses from you and your family. When you want to accuse someone, you’ll always find an excuse.”

Penny retorted, “Andrea, stop trying to argue. You came here and immediately asked if Kaia was being kept by K&B’s senior executives. Nobody was even thinking along those lines until you brought it up. And now you claim you’re innocent? Did you lose your memory, or do you think we
all did?”
Every time Penny heard Andrea speak, she was extremely baffled.
Louis stepped forward. “Penny, Andrea is my fiancée. When you bully her, you’re disrespecting the Ross family. Kaia has nothing to lose, but you… Is the Sharp family looking to make enemies of us? Have you even weighed your worth? Do you even measure up?”
Donald’s face darkened. He didn’t like being addressed so rudely by a junior, but he had to admit, the Sharp family’s strength really couldn’t compare to the Ross family.
Louis mocked, “That’s right, keep quiet. If you offend the Ross family, your family will pay the price. The Ross family is determined to get the collaboration with K&B. I assume the Sharp family is here to compete for it too. Stop dreaming. Thinking you can work with K&B? Dream on.”
“You!” Penny wanted to step forward and argue, but Donald pulled her back.
She snapped, “Dad, don’t hold me back. What he said was just too much! I can’t take that!”
Donald just shook his head at her, his expression one of helplessness.
Kaia’s face was already cold as ice. She hadn’t wanted to make a scene before, but now…
She turned toward the place where Conrad was standing, half–hidden. Conrad instantly understood her look and stepped forward.
Louis spotted Conrad the moment he appeared and rushed forward, all smiles.
“Mr. Dorsey, what an honor! I’m Louis Ross, the eldest son of the Ross family. Our proposal for this partnership is guaranteed to impress you.” Louis gushed, practically falling over himself to please.

“Really?” Conrad sounded indifferent.
“Of course, of course! If it’s not taking up too much of your time, please take a look now.” Louis turned to Andrea. “Andrea, bring me the file.”
“Alright.” Andrea walked over sweetly. But the moment she saw Conrad in person, she felt something she shouldn’t.
He was handsome, even more than in magazines and on TV. And he was the CEO and chief designer of K&B, the kind of man countless women dreamed of marrying!
Compared to him, Louis beside her instantly looked like a clown.
She had no choice. A man like Conrad, standing at the top of the food chain, was far beyond the reach of a young lady from a small–time, wealthy family like hers.
Conrad finished glancing over the proposal, and his expression darkened.
He said, “What is this? You call this a proposal? This is garbage. Did a beggar on the street come up with it?”
The words made Louis so embarrassed that he wished he could disappear.
By now, quite a few company representatives had arrived, most of them here to compete for the project. They were all watching with amused, mocking expressions.
Louis’s mouth opened and closed before he forced a smile. “I… Mr. Dorsey, could point out specifically what’s wrong?”

“Why are you so dense? No means no. Still asking what’s wrong? Do you want me to teach you? I’m here to find a partner, not to take on a student.” Conrad’s tone was laced with impatience.
Louis’s face burned. He wanted nothing more than to dig a hole and bury himself.
The other company reps watching the drama unfold were glad that they hadn’t been the first to stick their necks out like Louis. They’d all thought about rushing Conrad with their proposals, but now they were seriously glad they’d held back.
Kaia turned to Penny. “Show Mr. Dorsey our proposal too.”
Penny blinked, staring at Kaia. “Are you sure?”
‘Did you not just see Louis get totally wrecked? And now you want me to hand my proposal to Mr. Dorsey? What if he roasts me too? That would be beyond humiliating,‘ Penny thought.
“Just go for it. Trust me,” Kaia said, giving Penny a little push that landed her right in front of
Conrad,
Facing the imposing aura of Conrad, Penny’s brain promptly shut down.

Louis stepped aside. After being humiliated like that, he was amused to see someone else daring to step into the fire. Misery loves company, after all
“I…” Penny was so nervous she could barely form words
She thought she was going to be even more embarrassing than Louis
Just as she was lost in panic, Conrad’s voice sounded above her.
“You got a proposal for me too?” Conrad said.
Penny hadn’t expected him to speak to her first, and with such a gentle tone. Completely different from how he’d treated Louis. She felt herself relax a little.
She replied, “Yes. I’m the Sharp family’s representative. This is our company’s proposal. Please take a look.”
“Alright, I’ll have a look.” Conrad took the proposal, silently thinking, ‘Great. Working for Kala means not only managing a company, but also designing, and now apparently acting, too)
Penny stood there nervously, her heart pounding. She was terrified he’d declare their proposal garbage as well.
Donald, on the other hand, was much calmer. He kept glancing between Kaia and Conrad, brows furrowed, eyes lowered, clearly deep in thought.
Louis could hardly wait to hear Conrad trash the Sharp family’s proposal, hopefully in even harsher words.
He believed the small–time Sharp family couldn’t produce something better than theirs.
Besides, he’d seen it earlier. Kaia had made some edits to the Sharp family’s proposal.
‘Unbelievable. Are the Sharp family really that clueless? Letting an outsider like Kaia tinker with their proposal? What a joke, Louis thought, rolling his eyes.
Andrea was also waiting for the show, eager for the chance to mock Kaia in front of the Sharp family.
