Without giving Louis any time to think, Conrad began counting. “One, two, three.”

He snapped at the guards, “Someone, throw him out. Roger, post an announcement on the company’s official account. From this day on, K&B will never cooperate with the Ross family. Furthermore, any company that cooperates with the Ross family will not be able to work with K&B
either.”
These words were essentially a death sentence to all of the Ross family’s connections in Morganburg. After all, no one would risk offending K&B for the sake of the Ross family.
Louis’s face went pale. He hurried to beg for mercy. “Mr. Dorsey, I never said I wouldn’t apologize! You just counted too fast. I didn’t even have time to react!”
Andrea’s heart was pounding with unease. She had chosen to be with Louis because of his family background. If the Ross family collapsed, she would have a hard time.
“So now you’re blaming me?” Conrad said coldly.
“No, no, no! How would I dare blame you? Fine, I’ll apologize!” Louis walked over to Kaia and bent at a 90–degree angle.
Even if he was unwilling, he had to put on a show of sincerity.
He said, “Kaia, I’m sorry. What I said earlier was wrong. Please forgive me.”
Andrea watched Louis bow and scrape to Kaia, and her heart sank. She felt the sting of humiliation.
Kaia’s gaze was cool as she turned to Conrad. “Throw him out. He’s an eyesore.”
Conrad beckoned to the security guards. “Throw him out.”
“No! Wait! I’ve already apologized!” Louis shouted desperately, struggling, but the guards dragged him out by force.
Kaia’s eyes shifted to Andrea.
Andrea’s face was filled with fear, sweat beading on her forehead, caught between anger and fear.
Kaia said, “Why are you still standing here? Do you want to end up like Louis and have the security guards escort you out?”
“No, no, no, I’ll go myself.” Andrea fled with her tail between her legs.
“That was so satisfying to watch!” Penny muttered, wishing she could applaud.
Donald lowered his gaze, his eyes flicking between Kaia and Conrad just like before.

Penny whispered in Donald’s car, “Dad, I’m telling you, there’s definitely something between Kaia and Conrad. I don’t believe she’s just an intern. What kind of CEO would go this far for an intern?”
Donald nodded. “Yeah, I think so too.”
Penny asked, “Dad, do you think the person who came to pick Kaia up in that Maybach the other day was Mr. Dorsey?”
“Could be,” Donald replied.
“In my opinion, it’s certain. In Morganburg, there are only a handful of people who can drive a car like that. If it’s not Mr. Dorsey, who else could it be?” Penny analyzed confidently.
She continued, “At first, I thought Mr. Dorsey, being fifteen years older, was a bit of a loss for Kaia. But seeing how protective he is of her, being with him is actually a great match.”
When Penny looked at Kaia now, her eyes held a trace of blessing.
Kaia turned and caught Penny giving her a weird look. ‘Seriously, what’s her deal?‘ she thought.
Her phone chimed. Tobias had just texted: [I’m at the K&B entrance.]
When she left home this morning, Tobias had messaged her asking where she was going. No doubt the butler had tattled.
She was too lazy to make up an excuse. After all, one lie usually needed many more to cover it. So, she simply told him she was going to work at K&B.
Tobias assumed she was interning there and didn’t press further. He had only replied, [Why don’t you intern at my company?]
His tone was a little sulky.
Kaia: [I’ll be right out.]
After sending the message, Kaia said to Penny, “My friend’s here to pick me up, I’ll get going.”
“Oh, okay” Penny glanced toward the company entrance. When she saw the black Maybach, her eyes nearly popped out.
“Dad! Dad! Look at that car! What’s going on?” she blurted out.
Donald was equally stunned. “Could we have guessed wrong? The Maybach owner who picks Kaia up isn’t Mr. Dorsey?”
The father and daughter looked at each other, baffled
A few days later, Kaia received a call from Conrad.

He said, “Miss Bennett, tonight’s the race at Pioneer Retreat. You must get Gale to come!”
“Relax, she’ll definitely be there,” Kaia replied with a laugh.
Conrad replied, “Alright…”
“Oh, by the way, how’s the house hunting going?” Kaia asked.
He responded, “The ones you sent me before didn’t work. Either the location was bad or the layout and decor weren’t to my taste.”
“So you’re saying I’m too much trouble?” Kaia raised an eyebrow.
Conrad said, “I wouldn’t dare! Just venting a little. I’ll keep looking. Let my assistant do a more thorough search.”
Tobias had already walked in and overheard the part about her looking for a house.
He asked, “Still haven’t found a good one?”
Kaia shook her head, a little weary.
Suddenly, Tobias sat down close beside her. “What do you think about Pioneer Retreat?”
Her eyes
lit up at the mention.
“Pioneer Retreat is both a summer retreat and a luxury tourist destination. The scenery is breathtaking year–round, with flower fields in every season, and there’s even an orchard behind the hill,” Tobias said slowly.
‘Wait, Pioneer Retreat! How did I not think of that?‘ Kaia thought, a little stunned.
She chuckled to herself. Conrad had been urging her to invite Gale to the Pioneer Retreat race, and she’d completely overlooked what a great place it was,
Tobias said, “The crown jewel of Pioneer Retreat is its set of eight villas with the best views. If you like them, once I win the race, I’ll give you one.”
Because of Kaia, Tobias was even more determined to win the development rights to Pioneer
Retreat.
He had noticed just now. When he mentioned it, Kaia’s eyes lit up. Clearly, she liked it.
“What? You’re also joining the Pioneer Retreat competition?” Kaia asked, amused.
It was said that the development rights to Pioneer Retreat had attracted the fiercest competition among Morganburg’s elites. As the top–tier Moreno family, of course they would join in.
“Also?” Tobias frowned slightly.

“Oh, I’m interning at K&B right now, and I overheard employees saying that K&B will be competing for the Pioneer Retreat development rights too,” she explained casually.
Her explanation was calm and seamless, giving him no reason to suspect anything.
“It’s just a pity.” Tobias frowned.
Kaia asked, “Pity about what?”
“We couldn’t get Gale to show up,” Tobias replied.
Kaia’s lips twitched ever so slightly.

“You’ve raced before, so you’ve probably heard of Gale, right?” Tobias asked, looking at her.
Kaia nodded awkwardly.
He explained, “If our Moreno family could get Gale on our side, winning the Pioneer Retreat project would be a sure thing. But… there’s nothing we can do now. Anyway, come with me to watch the race tonight.”
