Chapter 77
Tobias extended an invitation to Kaia.
Kaia froze for two seconds. “I… can’t go…”
He asked, “Why? Don’t you like racing?”

“Well… I… don’t feel very well…” After struggling for a long while, Kaia finally came up with that
excuse.
Tobias’s eyes darkened, and he tensed, reaching out to feel her forehead.
“Where exactly do you feel unwell? You don’t seem to have a fever.” As he spoke, his up and down Kaia’s body, making her feel distinctly uncomfortable.

If she’d known, she wouldn’t have used that excuse.
“It’s a woman’s issue, inconvenient to explain. Just a small issue, you don’t need to worry.” Kaia spoke wearily.
Tobias’s eyes dropped to her lower abdomen. “This is no small issue. This is where my future sons and daughters will be nurtured. You must take good care of it.”
Kaia was stunned.
Completely ignoring her death glare, Tobias continued staring at her abdomen. “Does it hurt? My mother told me that women usually suffer a lot during this time. Let me massage it for you.”
“You want to lose your hand?” Kaia’s face twisted. “I’m too lazy to argue with you. I’m going upstairs to sleep.”
“I’ll carry you upstairs,” Tobias said, straightening up.
“Thanks, but I’m good,” Kaia replied, turning to leave.
But out of nowhere, Tobias moved lightning fast and scooped her up from behind, cradling her in his arms like a princess.
Kaia gasped. She had never been held by a man in such an intimate pose before. Her cheeks flushed red without her consent, and her heart started pounding faster.
She demanded, “Put me down.”
“Don’t be stubborn. I’ll take you up,” Tobias said, striding toward the stairs.
“Tobias! I told you to put me down!” Kaia’s clear voice rose several notches.

Upstairs, Caden was tinkering with a robot. Hearing the commotion, he pushed his door open a crack to peek outside.
“Adults really know how to play!” he teased.
Hearing his words, both Kaia and Tobias looked up at him.
Caden made a “go for it” gesture to Tobias. “Tobias, go for it! I support you. You must marry her and make her my sister–in–law, or I’ll look down on you.”
With that, he slammed the door shut with a loud bang.
Tobias, smiling with his eyes, looked down at Kaia in his arms. “Did you hear that? My brother said if I can’t marry you, he’ll despise me.”
“What’s that got to do with me? Put me down first!” Kaia started struggling again.
Seeing that she was being too restless, which might be dangerous, Tobias lowered his head close to her ear, slowly exhaling warm breath. “Be good. Listen to me, and you’ll get a reward.”
Whether intentionally or not, he blew right at her most sensitive spot, her left earlobe. The sensation made her freeze like a kitten caught by the scruff of the neck, unable to move, cheeks burning hotter, and heart racing faster.
Noticing her reaction, Tobias’s smile deepened.
“So this is your weak spot, huh?” he teased.
Kaia’s pupils widened in shock. Flushed and indignant, she tried to make a big move to break free, but the man restrained her.
Tobias warned, “Really, don’t move anymore. Or else… I’ll just eat your earlobe.”
His deep, masculine voice brushed against her ear like a breeze plucking harp strings, sending shivers down her spine and making her blush red.
She also noticed him watching her shy face with obvious intent. Clearly, this man was doing it on
purpose,
Kaia had never suffered such a loss before, so she decided to get back at him.
Once inside the room, Tobias reluctantly set her down.
He had wanted to carry her all the way to bed, but he worried that if he pushed too far, she would
get angry.
“Rest well. If you need anything, tell the butler.” He hesitated for a moment. “The butler’s a man, though. Not convenient. I’ll tell the maids to take good care of you instead.”

“Don’t be in such a hurry to leave.” Kaia smiled as she walked toward him with graceful steps, drawing circles on his firm chest with one finger.
“I haven’t even had the chance to properly thank you for carrying me all the way up here,” she
added.
Tobias’s eyes were glued to her mischievous finger swirling on his chest. His body temperature spiked, Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallowed, feeling like a little kitten was tickling him from the inside.
Right now, he wanted nothing more than to devour her.
Just as he was about to act, Kaia suddenly pushed against his chest and, with a face that turned cold in an instant, said, “I’m tired and want to rest. You can leave now.”
Tobias went silent.
It was like someone dumped a bucket of ice water right on the fire raging inside him. That feeling was just brutal.
Out of the corner of his eye, he caught Kaia trying to hide a laugh. Tobias could only smile helplessly. He had no choice. He had to indulge her.

Later that night, after Tobias finally left, Kaia grabbed her racing suit and headed for the track.
“Tobias, finally! Took you long enough. Hey, where’s your girl? Didn’t you say she’s crazy about street racing too? With all this hype tonight, how come she’s not here?” Russell teased.
“She’s not feeling too well,” Tobias replied.
“I see,” Russell said, nodding in understanding.
After speaking, Russell glanced at the racer Tobias had brought and whispered, “Is this guy really up to it? Our biggest opponent this time is Vulture.”
“He has to be Tobias’s eyes narrowed.
Russell knew him too well. One look at his expression, and he could tell something was going on.
He asked, “You always wanted to win, but never with this much intensity. What made you so determined this time?”
Tobias turned to him. “Because Kaia likes Pioneer Retreat.”
“That was an unexpected answer,” Russell muttered, then looked toward the K&B camp.
He said, “I heard Conrad found an incredible racer. I’ve been looking for a while, but I don’t see

who it is.”

“Doesn’t matter. Whoever it is, we have to win today. I already told Joseph, as long as he wins, I’ll grant him any request.” Tobias’s calm voice carried an air of supreme arrogance.
Russell just gave a little smirk and stayed silent.
On the other side, Conrad was pacing anxiously. All the major forces‘ racers had arrived, except his.
Kaia had told him to chill out and that everything was under control, but now he couldn’t help reaking out. ‘Did Gale get cold feet and decide not to come? Or did something happen to her on the way here?‘
Upward Entertainment’s president, Gideon Fowler, walked over. “Mr. Dorsey, where’s your racer? I don’t see them.”
Conrad sneered. “What, are you here to laugh at me?”
How could I? I’d never laugh at you. I even suggested before that my sister marry you. Though you refused, I still see you as family.” Gideon smiled.
He added, “Besides, everyone knows my archenemy is the Moreno family, not you.”
Then why are you here?” Conrad’s tone was curt. He clearly didn’t want to waste words on Gideon.
Gideon replied, “Don’t be so hostile, Mr. Dorsey. I just wanted to let you know my racer is Vulture. Unless Gale shows up, you don’t stand a chance. So why not just skip the race this time? Once I secure the development rights to Pioneer Retreat, I’ll give you a 20% share.”
