Conrad smirked. “Giving me twenty percent? Are you trying to throw me a bone?”
“Now, what are you talking about, Mr. Dorsey? You hardly need charity. I just thought we could form an alliance and take on the Moreno family together,” Gideon said with a mocking tone.
Conrad replied, “Take on the Moreno family? The Moreno family is the richest clan in Morganburg, and their family has been rooted here for over a century. Sure, our company is also one of the city’s largest conglomerates, but facing them directly wouldn’t be easy.”
He continued, “Besides, the Moreno family and K&B don’t have much business conflict. And you think giving me twenty percent of Pioneer Retreat development rights will make me use K&B as your shield? Mr. Fowler, you’re really cunning!”
Conrad sneered, then added, “And besides, just because you have Vulture, does that mean I don’t have Gale?”
Gideon’s eyes
widened a bit at that.
He said, “Gale? With you? Impossible. Gale has been off the radar for quite some time now. Not just my family, but even the Moreno family hasn’t been able to find her. How could you possibly? Oh, I get it. Mr. Dorsey, you’re just bluffing to save face. There’s no need. I won’t laugh at you.”
Gideon’s words said one thing, but his expression was openly mocking.
Nearby families who overheard their exchange also began snickering quietly, amused at Conrad’s supposed desperation to preserve his pride.
Just then, a striking silver–and–red Formula racing car came into view.
That Formula is gorgeous! It’s gotta be worth a fortune!”
‘Hey? Doesn’t that car look kind of familiar?”
“Wait! I remember! That looks just like Gale’s Formula racer!”
The words hit like a thunderclap. Everyone was stunned.
Tobias, Conrad, Gideon, and others instantly turned their gaze toward it.
“Is that really Gale’s car?”
“Not necessarily. It could just be some show–off who made a replica.”
“True. By the way, has anyone here actually seen Gale in person?”
“I haven’t.”

“I have, but every time she had her helmet on.”

“Same here. Now that you mention it, I don’t think anyone’s actually seen what she really looks
like.”
While they were talking, the Formula car rolled to a smooth stop right in front of Conrad. Under the crowd’s fixed gaze, a girl stepped out, her helmet matching the racer’s colors.
Her racing suit was crisp and sleek, her figure graceful and curvaceous.
Everyone had the same thought. ‘Is this Gale?‘
Conrad opened his mouth first. “You’re Gale, the one Miss Bennett invited?”
Kaia nodded. “Yeah. Miss Bennett sent me.”
Conrad froze for a moment. Her voice sounded familiar. And those words…
He thought, ‘Is she Miss Bennett?‘
His eyes widened, scanning Kaia up and down again and again, each look making him more certain. The figure, the looks… and that little hint she had dropped earlier…
Conrad exclaimed in his heart, ‘Holy crap! Seriously?‘
Gideon also gave Kaia a once–over. “Mr. Dorsey, is this the real Gale you brought here? Or just an impostor?” He asked exactly what everyone else was thinking.
Conrad secretly savored the moment but kept his expression neutral. “Real or fake, you’ll see soon enough.”
He was certain the face under that helmet was exactly the one he thought it was.
“Alright, let’s not waste time. Everyone to your positions,” Gideon said dismissively, clearly not taking Kaia seriously. In his mind, it was impossible that Conrad had brought the real Gale. She was likely just a stand–in for the show.
Kaia was about to get in the car when she felt a searing gaze on her back. She turned and locked eyes with Tobias in the crowd.
He was staring intently at her, making her feel a flicker of unease.
‘Did he recognize me? There’s no way. I’m wrapped up tight, she reassured herself.
It didn’t surprise her that Conrad recognized her. She had deliberately given him a hint earlier.
“My goddess!” Russell was almost bouncing with excitement. “Tobias, I finally get to see my idol again! But you’re done for now. If Gale’s here, the Pioneer Retreat rights are as good as gone.”

“You’re sure she’s really Gale?” Tobias frowned.
“Absolutely, no doubt about it!” Russell insisted.
“How do you know?” Tobias asked.
“You wouldn’t get it. It’s a man’s intuition!” Russell declared confidently.

Tobias twitched the corner of his mouth, speechless. ‘I don’t get it? So I’m not a man now?‘
Still, his eyes never left Kaia.
“Doesn’t she remind you of someone?” he asked.
Russell turned to him. “Who? Your fiancée, Kaia?”
Tobias was speechless again. “What makes you think that?”
“How else am I supposed to think? You see someone for two seconds and say she looks like your fiancée. You’ve barely been away from her, and you’re already seeing things,” Russell teased.
Tobias gave him a look that told him to think harder.
Then, after a pause, he said, “Don’t you think the way she’s completely covered up, her figure, her posture, her aura… It’s a lot like Dr. Bennett?”
“Wait, what?” Russell blurted out, genuinely stunned by Tobias’s words.
Russell mocked, “Tobias, you really know how to drop a bomb. How have I never noticed your wild imagination before? You’re saying she’s like Dr. Bennett? You mean the legendary racer Gale is actually the nation’s top scientist, Dr. Bennett herself? Do you believe that?”
I only said they look alike. I didn’t say they’re the same person,” Tobias replied.
Russell said, “Of course they’re not the same person! Dr. Bennett spends all her time buried in research. She’s an irreplaceable scientific leader! How could she possibly find time to race cars? Even if she did, are you telling me she could just casually become a legend in the racing world?”
“Besides, with her status, would the authorities even let her do it? Racing is high–risk. If she got hurt, the loss would be… Unimaginable.” Russell shook his head, clicking his tongue.
Kaja sneezed just as she fastened her seat belt.
‘Someone must be talking about me, she thought.
Through the rearview mirror, she caught Tobias still looking her ways

Conrad walked over and, in a voice only the two of them could hear, asked quietly, “Miss Bennett… you’re really Gale?”
“Yeah.” Kaia nodded.
Conrad sucked in a sharp breath. He had guessed it, but it still left him stunned.
He said, “So that’s why you’re never at the company. You’ve been out racing all this time.”
Kaia raised an eyebrow. She actually wanted to reply, “I’m not racing, I’m doing research.” But she let it go.
