18 years ago, on a snowy day.
It was the same day Mom and Frederick were celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary.
Mom had ordered a 15 centimeters strawberry cream cake from a popular local bakery.
On the way back home from the bakery, my mom met my biological father, who had been hungry for several days and was kneeling on the street begging in thin clothes in the cold winter.
Mom had grown up loved by her parents, and after marrying Frederick, she lived like a white rose, cherished and
adored.
She always had the kindest heart.
Seeing him kneeling there, freezing and begging in the snow, she not only gave him several hundred–dollar bills but also warmly took him shopping for the best winter coat and clothes.
But that beast took advantage of her kindness. Pretending to have a stomachache, he lured her into a secluded re- stroom in the mall. There, he kicked her to the floor, raped her, and then viciously beat her up.
Three days later, Frederick discovered Mom was missing and brought the police, who found her covered in blood.
The case moved quickly. Four days after Mom woke up, my biological father was arrested.
Mom still had the man’s bodily fluids in her body. When questioned by the police, he confessed everything and said brazenly, “So what? I admitted my mistake and turned myself in; the judge will give me a lighter sentence.”
Hearing this, Mom collapsed completely 18 years ago.
It wasn’t until the court sentenced him to 18 years in prison, and with the support of Frederick and Timothy constantly by her side, that Mom barely managed to step out from the shadow.
To cheer her up, Frederick and Timothy set aside work and school, deciding to take her on a trip to relax.
But the night before they planned to leave, Mom suddenly couldn’t eat. She clung to the toilet, throwing up until she was pale and dizzy.
Frederick wanted to take her to the hospital for a physical examination, but she refused to go no matter what.
A terrifying thought flashed through her mind, and she was afraid that it would really be as she imagined.
To ease his worries, she forced herself to buy a pregnancy test from the pharmacy.
The test results were exactly as Mom had guessed.

Chapter 8
But pregnancy tests could be wrong.
Clinging to the last glimmer of hope, she went to the hospital.
The final test results confirmed she was pregnant with me.
She became pregnant with the child of the man who had hurt her.
