When Elyna was rolled out, Cedric took the left side of the bed. Gaspard slid in on the right like it was no big deal.
Cedric didn’t start anything, but what really ticked him off was how Elyna looked at Gaspard first.
His jaw tightened. It only loosened when Gaspard stayed behind and didn’t follow them into the room.
Still, he couldn’t help the jab. “Look at him–more emotional than the actual dad.”
Elyna’s smile cracked. ‘Don’t be ridiculous. He’s my oldest friend. We’ve been tight since kindergarten. He’s just happy for me.
Cedric stayed quiet. She always played that card whenever he got even a little jealous.
And if he pushed it? She’d throw Reine in his face.
Just thinking about her made his chest tighten.
How long had it been since she vanished? No calls. No texts. Just–gone.
He was stuck in that memory spiral until Elyna’s voice yanked him out. She had to call his name more than once.
Her eyes were red, chest rising with every angry breath.
“Cedric, who else are you thinking about? It’s Reine again, isn’t it?”
